This assumes that you'll just be getting bodies by trading down. There is starting-caliber talent through the third round for OT and WR from several reports. And you may be able to get a starting-caliber CB or possibly EDGE by the end of round 2. I hear what you're saying though, but it's going to depend upon the dynamics of the draft. If there are fireworks in the first over QBs, then some definitive first round talent will fall.

Whatever the best player that's available, that's the position I want filled first, second and third.

I mean, if they believe that he can play center at a proficient level, then he probably can. Not sure why message boarders would think that they know more than Morgan or Canales (or Joe Gilbert or Brad Idzik), but if they draft a center or not, I'm sure they're doing what they believe is best for the team.

No he was not. You guys keep saying Smitty is high on these guys just because he gives you the positives or food for thought. Smith was "very high" on a day 3 receiver? Come on, man. Smitty acknowledges the positives and negatives, and offers a scenario where receivers might be successful. That's pretty much it. In this class, he's high on the top 3. I'd say he's very high on Nabers and Harrison. Outside of the top 3, questions abound, but he can envision a scenario where many of them can work.

Steve Smith already said that Legette is past where Metcalf was when he was drafted, so why limit him at this point? Shenault's biggest issue in my opinion is that he was never a good ball tracker. That's why he never took hold in the league as a starter. Legette is an excellent ball tracker, so I can't see it. It's nice to know that you will cheer for him. I wouldn't expect anything less.

Well, if they do take him at 33, obviously they do believe that they know who he is. The fact is, there are reasons why he didn't break out before year five. We may not know all of them or all of the specifics, but it's disingenuous not to acknowledge them, and it seems that many Huddlers want to use their lack of acknowledgement to drive a decidedly contrived narrative against him. But, that aside, once you interview him and acknowledge the reasons for his fifth year breakout, and then work him out within the plans and visions that you have for him within your system, then you have a decision to make regarding his value. I am fairly sure that we've done all of that, so I'm not going to scream "bloody murder" if we pick him at 33.

The reason for that, like most of the analysts that I've heard, is that they can't say for sure which Legette is the real Legette. Some have more conviction. Brett Kollmon said he believes Legette is the sixth best WR in this class regarding the draft.

If they take him, I'm comfortable with it. They've done their homework. If someone is your guy, sometimes you just don't play around, you take them. One thing I have learned over the years is that there is definitely a disconnect between the media and actual front offices regarding a player's worth. I don't care to be the victim of media-driven narratives pertaining to the draft, so I don't put too much stock into what I'm hearing unless I have a specific reason to do so. That being said, I'm not getting all hot and bothered by rumors. When we make our picks, hopefully they're good ones.

Which is another reason why some may want to dial those expectations back. I mean, I and others tried to tell people last year about setting unrealistically high expectations.

Earlier this year, before free agency, when our opponents were published, I saw our ceiling as two games. Granted, the disaster of a season and Bryce were still fresh. Now, I still can't reasonably say that we will win much more than that. I would like to think so, but I certainly wouldn't bet the farm on it. Until I see Morgan draft, Canales coach, and Bryce improve, my expectations aren't moving past three or four games.

Yeah we would, but that's for each person to decide I guess. It's their theory. For me, a certain amount of whether we should keep Bryce or not will be how he looks whether we win or lose. If he looks competent and growth is apparent, complete with good decision-making and processing, then I can see why we'd keep him. If he looks like the SOB (same ol' Bryce) by October---and I may not even last that long---then I am going to be looking towards the future amid varying degrees of despondency.

Yep, I was going to specifically bring up Shedeur, because I have seen that very line of thought somewhere on here weeks ago. For the record, I don't believe that Sanders is a legit first round talent, and I'd much rather take my chances with Penix or even Rattler.

Hell, for some people that was/is the whole reason to let Bryce take the reins this season. The premise is that he will suck again, and that as a result we will be in the position to draft the best thing (QB) smoking in 2025. Even if you don't expressly use the term, the meat and potatoes are still the same.

What I'm saying is that's decidedly lame sarcasm...
