I love Kollmans' stuff.  Kollman put one of our picks in his 5 favorites of the entire draft:

I wonder why Terrace isn't talked about more often around here? I mean, he has to know Brady's system already. No reason not to believe the kid can't hit the field running.

There is a real good possibility the kid could have a great year. Yet, he appears to be an after-thought among Huddlerz.

Then don't do it. Also, I doubt a safety that gets cut is going to get a ton of money on a 1 year deal.

There are plenty of reasons a player could get cut. Money, team wants to go younger, bad attitude, bad play.

Also, if we did happen to find a FS that was cut. Why does it have to be a 1 year deal?

Great OP.  As some has said, he has the possibility to have a Ramsey effect on the D.

I don't care if people call me a homer, I just feel like we are going to tear up.

"Homer" is just a word folks use when their argument is ineffective. The irony is, they believe it has negative connotations. When in fact. It is a badge of honor to most "Die Hard" fans.

Agreed, but what if a FS that we liked became available? Wouldn't we just cut Burris and the money would offset?

What if that FS wants more money than what Burris makes? What if he wants way more that what Burris makes?

Sam is a seasoned NFL veteran, period.  In game #6 this season he will have already played for an amount of time equal to the length of the average NFL career.

Stop with the excuses....and FYI, you only make him look worse by suggesting "he's still a rookie" after he's already played 3 full NFL seasons --- calls his intellect into question.

He's already been given a "fresh start" and a "fair chance" by the only people who matter -- Tepper & Rhule. (and "given" is the operative term, handed to him on a silver platter!  NO competition for Sam and his fragile psyche!!)

In the meantime "we" don't owe him anything.  "We" can hope for the best for him while simultaneously having and expressing an opinion about how he may or may-not perform...including, but not limited to, "bashing him".

America is a great place, free country it is...

You claim everyone has an opinion. Yet your first sentence kinda goes against that. But yeah, ain't it a great country?

Anyone we add at this point is a 1-year rental who will not impact the cap beyond this year.

Yes, in theory that is true. However, if the right player, in the right cicumstances were to become available? Then maybe we make a run at him. But yeah, let's not mess up this years Cap unnecessarily. Basically, the stars would have to align perfectly for us to spend bigish type money this year.

  7. 11 minutes ago, Jared Patterson said:

Agreed. Wouldn't mind if one came available though, but that's the only position I would add if the right one came available.

I know we still have some issues. And, we do have some money. It's like, yes, I want that guy. Or, yes, I like that guy, too bad we have to be responsible. Damm, I hate being responsible.

It seems pretty obvious that you rate Fields way more than our coaching staff did. I was pretty excited at the prospect of getting Lawrence or Fields heading into last season myself. But many teams clearly cooled down on Fields. Two relatively small school QBs went ahead of him.

My point is you can lose sleep at night comparing Fields to Horn for the next three seasons but it doesn’t appear our staff was all that interested in him. Whether it was Horn or someone else, it’s likely we were taking someone other than Fields regardless. So comparing them all season is pointless. We clearly didn’t want him. Whether that is was the right or wrong opinion remains to be seen. But he wasn’t ever coming to Carolina.

I know fans can get upset at the draft. I mean, I can get a bit upset myself. But after a while, you just gotta let it go man. I mean, after so long who cares. I just don't get it. For us fans harping on the past has no bearing on the future.

I guess it's all part of being a fan. It takes all kinds. I tell ya what.

Not really. He hasn't been healthy since he's gotten to the league. If he can stay healthy though he is a beast. Right now I have heard Sam Franklin took all the first team reps at mini camp. He shows a lot of potential. Still wouldn't mind adding more of a ballhawk though.

About those injuries. I was trying to be kind. I would prefer we not waste time on him.

I'm like a lot of Huddlerz where it comes to S. We have Chinn, and question marks. Finding a ball hawking S would be nice. Not sure how we can get that done this year. I would hate to put money into almost any position this year. Save that Cap, and let's go to battle.

I hope we don’t. That’s a terrible list of players to blow $17M on this year. We aren’t contending for a title so let’s stop talking about throwing away a bunch of cap space on one year deals for depth. If Dix was great, he’d have a deal in place so unless he’s not bad and playing at a minimum contract, no thanks.

This should have been our mantra last year when Tepper preached patience with the process. If the guys we sign aren’t possibly part of the next 3+ years like an Okung or Short, then we have no business wasting money on them, surely not $17M worth. You can rollover unused cap into the next year and we’ve got DJ and Burns coming up soon.  No, just no.

@Michael G said "I doubt we spend any of that money on anyone that's available now. IMO our D-line is pretty set." He did not say anything about spending money on them. Only on FA cuts at OL, or S. But more than likely just bottom of the roster stuff.

And you jumped on him for spending money he didn't want to spend in the first place.

You don't need to make up excuses to rant about past mistakes. Penty of real opportunities elsewhere.

I'm married.  I know how to do it.

    @LinvilleGorge I'm sorry if I upset you,

and if I didn't upset you but am upsetting you by saying you're upset, then I'm sorry for that too.

That's not how I have to do it. And I don't want to discuss it. At all.

I mean, is it really our fault he got all upset? Kinda?

Is it our fault he couldn't take a joke? Not really.

So, it's 50-50 on whose fault it is. Imma wait until the lawyers get involved to make a final judgement. lol

I would like to add. I used a bunch of lol's at him. Does that not count?

Yeah, I see where you could get that.

I meant you're projecting on the emotional stuff.  I'm not mad at you or upset.  At the point you used the "white knight homerism", and your responses to @iamhubby1, its clear you're perturbed.

Meanwhile you're telling us we take it personally and getting emotional.

    You're projecting.

I have seen you have countless discussions with countless Huddlerz. I know I have had countless discussions, with countless Huddlerz. I am going to go with. Who doesn't have a clue for $1,000 Aaron.

What started off as a civil discussion. Devolved into this. I wonder why? I mean, @LinvilleGorgedid lose his cool. And that was great. But we did tease him pretty goodly. Which was fun. Maybe we should apologize?

I think I frustrate people here sometimes.  I enjoy the engagement and disagreement.  I learn a lot from it.  I thought that is why people came here...to share their opinions, disagree, discuss...and in the end cheer on the Panthers.

Before I joined I read this post:

Why Darnold won't be bad - Carolina Panthers - Carolina Huddle

And when I read some of responses, I was like wtf.  Is this still a Panthers board?

So I decided to finally join, be vocal, and share my opinions.

It's like I told you back in the day. Have fun, stick to your guns. And never give up, never surrender. lol You seem to being doing well. So I have no more knowledge on which to pass. The student has become the master.

Yep, I'm obsessed with the Panthers getting a legit franchise QB. It's the only way to be relevant year in and year out in the NFL. Sorry, not sorry.

See, even in that short little post. You just had to be snippy. And you call us emotional? Oh sweet irony. Thy name is...well, you know.

You do realize that there are a whole lot of Panther fans that are worried about Sam not making the grade? Yet, for some strange reason only Zod knows. You decided to lead the brigade. Sing it to the hill tops. Shout it down every valley. Bring it into every stinkin thread that mentions Sam, or Rhule.

It's like @Toomerswho never seems to miss an oppotunity to let us Panther fans know what the Pantherz are doing wrong. Especially where it comes to the Cap.

    See where I'm going?

It's the dead period of the off-season. There's literally nothing to do but speculate. You just seem to take it personally when someone has a different opinion.

First, when did the phrase "you just get emo" make its way onto the Huddlez? I think I know, but best let sleeping dogs lie.

Second, dude, you really are defending this "If Sam fails, Rhule may only get one more shot" hill hard. You're willing to bring it into any, and every thread where Sam, or Rhule are mentioned.

We get it. You didn't like Teddy, and it showed. You don't like Sam, and it show. You just have to realize we all see the obsession.

Lastly, just because we don't believe for a minute that Rhule is in any danger. Does not mean we are emotional dammit. lol

No chance as long as Jordan is majority owner and in charge.

The light at the end of the tunnel is 2 smart guys from New York bought a chunk of the team from MJ and hopefully will wrest control from him at some point.

2 smart guys from New York also own the Bucks and have done a masterful job of properly managing that franchise for success --- Mike Jordan has zero chance of competing with Wes Edens and Marc Lasry.

I did not know you could own pieces of 2 teams in the NBA. Sure increases your odds for success. lol

Lot's of things have me excited for the comint year. He is defiantly at the top of that list. It sounds as though he is working on his hands as well. If that comes to fruition. Watch out folks. lol
