That maybe dated thinking, for years now most Offenses have been getting the ball out faster. Many teams shoot for less than 2.0 seconds form snap to pass. Of course QB has to catch the snap-start throwing motion-release. I member a old sport science vid on this topic. Just a adjustment has been made to counter elite DLmen, you dont even have to block them, just impede their move path to the QB. Found it

Brady had the quickest release last year. It was 2,6 seconds. Just saying

  2. It is going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Do the Panthers just out and out release him, and save some money? Or do they figure out a way to keep him, by figuring out a way to make that contract more team friendly?

I believe Shaq is one of the best athletes on the team. And I think they will try to work something out to be able to keep him.

I said his play isn't worthy of his contract. It's not. He's a decent player paid like an All-Pro. That isn't disparagement.

Yup, that's all you said. End of message, the end, by by. For someone who believes his word should be taken as holy writ. You sure have a hard time remembering what you did say.

Again, take 10 minutes from you busy day, and read what @Icegewrote about Shaq in the Jermain Carter thread. It's on page 2, go for it.

Shaq is more valuable than most Huddlers realize. Because of that contract, and a bias from years ago. They can't see the forest for the trees.

I said Shaq was a decent starting LB. No more, no less. Then you came with... well, exactly what you're accusing me of.

If you truly believe that is ALL you said.

Hellz dude, you have 2 post in this thread alone where you disparage him, all because of the contract. You can't seem to separate the player from that God awful contract.

I can't continue this. You  will NEVER admit to anything.

If a player is under contract to the Panthers the other 31 teams are irrelevant.

Correct.  At some point hopefully a deal that's fair to both parties can be worked out...but if not keep tagging him.  I'd be interested to see the 3-year aggregate tag-numbers vs. a "4 or 5 year contract"...do you have them?

    Sure it is.

The rules of the game are clear and personally I don't care if a player "likes" being tagged or not.

I didn't say "I want" to tag Moton 3 times...but I am of the belief the team shouldn't be afraid to do so.  It's a complex negotiation and the team should be prepared to use all the tools at their disposal to help them secure the best possible contract to benefit the entire team.  This is exactly why the Patriots are so successful...

I don't believe Moton is a quitter who would dog it because he is unhappy with his contract, sounds like you do.

@Jon Snowsaid he would hate to lose Moton over a few million dollars. You said "Lose him to exactly whom.", I said any number of teams. Now you are saying something different. lol

You don't care if a player is happy or not? Fug em right?

Again, another Huddle staple of putting words in people's mouths.

There are a poo ton more players that have bitched about being tagged, players threatening to hold out, players actually holding out. Yeah those guys are happy. Doesn't make them quitters. That is from your own words.

The facts need to be laid out for you? These players have a history and it’s not starting caliber compared to the rest of the NFL. Paradis will be gone next year and he and Miller did not play well, he played average. All spots on the line have a history of below average play except Moton.

You’re saying get a group of below average players and a rookies together and assume they’ll gel all while fighting for the LT spot and all of a sudden they’ll become serviceable is more sweeping statement based on nothing that saying it appears based on their history of below average play their play will be below average.

Yada yada yada. None of that has anything to do with what I said. But hey, that's a Huddle staple.

The right side of our Oline did play better than the left. Which means, Paradis, Miller, and Moton did play well together. LAST YEAR.

Putting BChris at LG gives us only 1 spot left to fill. THIS YEAR.

We have Tremble to help whomever wins LT. THIS YEAR.

You saying that line has no chance, before they have even hit the practice field? Is just lazy.

It may fail. But I am at least willing to wait until they play to pronounce the line hit or miss.

Pot, meet Mr. Kettle. How about adding oh I don't know, maybe some actual content? I mean, other than Shaq contract bad, so Shaq bad.

I have an idea. Why don't you read what @Icegewrote about Shaq. It's on page 2 of the Jermain Carter thread. Maybe try educating yourself. Nah, that ain't your style.

I have been on this board for approx 13years. And I try my best to not give ill will towards anyone. But you and your ilk, who jump into threads throwing shade at posts, really have made it difficult. You act like your shitt don't stink. Well buddy, your shitt does stink.

There are only like 2 dozen regular fans left on this board. And it is because of you and your ilk driving them away with your snark, and ego driven posts, filled with holier than thou attitudes.

Hellz, the Trolls are at least entertaining.

This oline isn’t Moton away from competing. If he isn’t signed to be here long term the Panthers need to trade him, preferably this year.

See, this is the Huddle in a nutshell. Make a broad sweeping pronouncement, without a hint of facts to back it up.

This line hasn't even practiced together. And you are already calling it. With zero of the Precincts in, we are calling it a loss for the Panthers.

Paradis, Miller, and Moton played pretty well last year. Throw BChris at LG, and let the rest fight for LT. Throw in Tremble, and we may be able to go to war with that group. It is far from over, even if YOU happen to think it is.

  9. 45 minutes ago, Icege said:

Shaq is more than a decent LB. He's a very good LB that doesn't have to be downplayed to criticize a contract given by a GM with a history of overpaying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think you can find many, if any, folks that like that contract. But by the way some folks talk, half, if not more, of this board like it. Just one of the many "Facts" about Shaq that are based in opinion.

"He's just a jag, solid backup or STer at best, Shaq isn't tough enough, Shaq can't cover, Shaq is no TD, didn't live up to his #1 draft position, or my favorite "He never passed my eye test", and on, and on it goes.?

In the Jermain Carter thread, you put together a great rundown on what Shaq brings to the table. Do you think folks paid any attention to that? Heck no, that goes against their preconceived notions.

To too many folks. Shaq's contract bad, which automatically makes Shaq bad.

It truly appears that to the Huddle, opinion means more than facts.

You do realize there are 31 other teams out there. Many are looking for Tackle help. And many of them have money to spend.

The reality of this is tagging guys like Moton until you can't tag them anymore is probably the most cost effective (and prudent) way to retain said talent...

...Tepper &Co. should fully use the tools they are given.

You can only tag a guy 3 times. By then you will have paid 110%, 120%, and 141%. Way more than what a 4 or 5 year contract would pay.

DGAF about a player having hurt feelings when he's collecting $13.7M to play a game.

Absolutely it matters and every Sunday I want my guys coming out of the locker room super pissed off with an "I will show them" attitude and ready to rip the head off every person on the other side of the ball every play...

...unless you're saying Moton is a quitter?

    I don't think he is.

You do understand that Players do not like being Tagged? And yet, you not only want to tag Moton once, you want to do it 3 times? And then expect him to not only be happy about it, but play his ass off as well?

    Yeah, that probably ain't happening.

I agree 100% that Tepper is executing on a model that will almost certainly result in long-term and consistent success as defined by the single metric that really matters -- wins & losses.

That said, his model is a departure from that which is the norm in the NFL and Fitterer is not "the sheriff".

    Patience will be rewarded!! 💥💯🧨🇺🇸

Oh, I agree that this regime is heavy into analytics. Something that fans are going to have to get used to. As we seem to be trending upward, I would say they are off to a pretty good start.

And since I am the one that said we have a new Sheriff, I get to call who plays  the Sheriff. And that is Fitt.

And yet, even with the Hurndawg holding the reins of ruin for another organization, THIS organization is doing whatever it can to save present day nickels because they fear paying future $$$ to their young talent and anchors.

Except for a running back, of course.

Because as we all know, having the best and top paid running back in the league is the key to present-day NFL success.

But for sure, Carolina management, make sure you lock down your RUNNING BACKS to long-term, top dollar contracts and not your top young performers on OL!

God I missed your special brand of sarcasm. By the way. That was a Hurndog contract. He really doesn't have anything to do with the team anymore. You can't blame this regime for past mistakes.

    • Pie 1
  13. I know this isn't a popular opinion. But here goes. We have a new Sheriff in town. He hasn't been here a full year. Maybe we should hold off on projecting our fears of "He Who Shall Not Be Named" onto Fitt. Just yet anywho.

This is Fitts first big deal. Can we at least wait for it to be done? Maybe he is Hurndog 2.0, and that would suck, hard. But maybe he is just Fitt 1.0, and that may not be a bad thing.

tl;dr version: Let's give the Sheriff time. Then we can decide if he lives,or dies.

I just looked, there is no one with more yards than Smith. Who would you think I'm wrong about? Marvin Harrison? Reggie Wayne? Andre Johnson? Anquan Bolden? Torry Holt? Nope. 2 of them have 1 more TD catch and a few more catches on him but no one has the yards. Just saying. Steve has a pretty great resume outside of a Sb ring and no HOF Qb throwing to him for the majority of his career. If any WR stands a chance at first ballot its definitely Steve

A little while ago, someone mentioned Steve and the HOF. I did a little research and Steve did really well from what I found. I know we, as Panther fans, want to think it can happen. But from what I have read, and seen, I think he has a good shot.

    Same as it ever was!

Anyone catch the Spelling Bee last night? I watched for like 5 min. At one point a kid from NC had his turn. They showed a hype video package with a special message from CMC. You see, this kid is a HUGE Panthers fan. They mentioned it many times. They even said the team "sponsored him" as well as giving him a special jersey, and in the video package he was on the field. Go Panthers! Right?

Yeah ... after all that, he walks up to the mic for his first word ... and gets it wrong. See ya!

    Classic.

Take shots at the Panthers, they deserve them. Taking shots at a kid? Not cool.

And the JackHoles that followed your lead.

We had a lot of needs and cap issues when Rhule took over. It’s going to take some patience, but a lot of people don’t have very much. I understand it’s entertainment and we all want them to win and win now, but that’s not always realistic.

Yuppers. 2 years ago, most Huddlerz would agree that our roster was bottom of the league level.

Year 2 hasn't even started yet, and there are a lot of Huddlers whose fears of the past won't allow them to see just what might be ahead for us.

I mean, isn't this the time of year to look hopefully towards the coming year?

    • Pie 2
  18. Sooo...2 years ago Rhule went all D. Now that that same D looks like it just may be getting better. Folks seem to forget that Draft.

But...This year we attacked the O in the Draft. Including 2 Olinemen, and another -Moore- who may be our starting C sooner than later. And also grabbed a blocking TE. Yet, some folks are unhappy cuz we didn't do more.

Some folks want to discuss this, others just want to burn it down. Which is how it should be. Differences drive discussions. But being civil is what keeps discussions going.

Civility is needed for discussions to be effective.

Carolina has been overinvesting in running backs and linebackers for years through two different general managers. Acting like people criticizing now are being unfair is just ignoring history. Now we actually have a real pass rush developing but we have limited options surrounding that due to our two most lucrative contracts on the books being in you guessed it... an rb and a linebacker. But keep on keeping on singing that company line.

Dude, I mean this with all the sincerity I can muster. You are the bestest thing to happen to the Huddle in like for months, and months. Your use of hyperbole, mixed with just the right amount of imagination, is epic.

You could care less that your facts are a tad skewd. Or that your basic premises are out of left field. You just plow on. And the way you spin things to fit your stories...It is awe inspiring. It truly is. But my favorite? Is how you use condescension to drive your point home. Bravo dude, Bravo. Lets the little people know who the are dealing with. Hubby likey.

You just continue to be you. And I will continue to read your posts in stunned amazement.

Oh, and Marino never had a perfect season. And our D has talent all over the field, even with those 2 massive contracts constricting our growth.

Too simplistic a take.  Luke enabled us to reach a SB.  You cannot look at "just" his stats - and those are impressive enough.  You also have to look at how many times Luke put the players around him in position to win.  It was all the freaking time.  You cannot compare Luke to other MLB's.  He's just different sauce altogether.

This isn't to say Horn wasn't the correct pick.  Our need at CB was immense.  I suspect Horn will make a greater impact for us than a Micah Parsons would have.  Parsons is a great talent, and he'll make a ton of plays.  I just think that when you look at our needs and the relative talent you're taking and the positions . . . Horn was probably the better pick.

Did you read the post I was replying to? @CPcavedwellersaid "I'll stand by my pick projection, we should've taken Micah Parsons instead of Horn. Cornerbacks can affect the game but a Middle Linebacker of that athletic ability alters a franchise."

You agree with me, but call my response "Simplistic"? I don't think I''m ever going to get the hang of this interwebz thingy. I tell ya what.

Why would I hold my tongue for the highest paid running back in the nfl if he isn't bringing us wins? If the truth hurts your delicate feelings maybe it's time for bed uncle junior.

I'd be willing to bet. The reason you get poo'd on is not so much what you say. Well, to be honest, you do say some silly things. It is because of how you say it.

There is a whole lot of anger in your posts. You lash out at folks that don't agree with you. You have no compunction insulting people. You just come off as a Troll with a bad attitude.
