  1. Jahmyr Gibbs and Jameson Williams sure didn't need Bryce Young
  2. Let's go over the development and peak of an NFL QB again. 28 to 32 for QBs who get to their first conference championship game. 30 years or older for QBs who win their first SB. Darnold and Mayfield are just now entering this zone, and we'll likely see them play each other in the wildcard round. Drafting a QB in the top 20 picks is a luxury for teams that are already built for the playoffs like Roethlisberger and Mahomes. Rebuilding teams like the Panthers or Bears will just be farming up QBs for the rest of the league to insert when they near 28 years. The Colts didn't make it to a championship game with Manning until he was 27, and won a championship game when he was 30. The Panthers gave up on Newton at 29, Allen at 23, Bridgewater at 28, Darnold at 25, and Mayfield at 27. Jake Delhomme's peak was 28 to 33. Newton wasn't allowed to reach his peak. Young QBs need to be carried to win, and they will consistently lose out to the 30 year old veteran QBs in the playoffs. Build a contender around a 28+ year QB for 3 to 4 years, and then insert a 1st round QB if the the vet QB can't win in the playoffs. This lesson on the QB position has been a constant for decades.
  3. Tepper has cut out the talent, loaded up on failed projects, wasted a decade of draft capital, destroyed any semblance of culture, and devalued leadership. I have some hope for Canales, the OL, Coker, and J.Sanders. Thielen is nearing retirement & Hubbard is at his peak as a 1st down RB. Ian Thomas remaining on the offense since Tepper bought the franchise speaks volumes.
  4. Let me know when Young has a better season than Kyle Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield. The Raiders game is still the Panthers best offensive performance in 2024.
  5. Announcers keep saying floater & rainbow for Young's highlights. When did that ever result in consistent success at QB? I call his play sonce college as flash & crash for a reason. He needs perfect receivers like Thielen or crazy athletic acrobats. Young's receivers must have the best hands in the NFL too for him to be average. Asking way too much of an offense to carry Young
  6. But Bryce Young has had 2 GREAT drives! That's improvement, right? Just ignore the 3 consecutive 3 & out drives and the completion %. That wasn't Young's fault.
  7. Everyone comes around to my assessment after 2 or 3 wasted years. Evero's been a failed Capers' project before he joined the Panthers. Now, we just wait for the flash & crash QB play to wear on the fan base for another 2 seasons.
  8. He was a project & a reach. Can't blame XL for the GM mistake. McConkey was best available receiver at that point in the draft.
  9. Scripted drives are over for the offense. Lob balls aren't going to carry an entire game. Need QB consistency
  10. Both teams scripted drives win against soft zones. Now, which QB will be consistent against soft Ds. Both Ds look like they're waiting for the first offense to make a mistake.
  11. QBs like Cooper Rush are available in free agency. 4-1 in last 5 games. 9-4 record as a starter. 43% GWD. Only struggles against 1 team. This should be the baseline QB for any winning franchise. Starting in year one!
  12. No one is asking him to be Tom Brady. They're just asking him to be as good if not better than Cooper Rush, Jimmy Garoppolo and Carson Wentz. We'd like Young to be better than Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, but we're not even asking for that. No matter how you cut it he's going to be considered a bust for what was given up for him. He should be outpacing Cam Newton, Jake Delhomme and Kerry Collins game for game in their careers. He should at least be challenging the clutch level of Brady, Mahomes, Stafford, Goff, Garoppolo, Burrow, Hurts and Purdy. Remember that's based on the draft capital given up for Young, and not the extremely low bar Young has actually set for himself.
  13. You apparently don't pay attention to key QB metrics and you're just hoping for the team to be perfect for Young to but up a below average record. You realize the Cowboys & Saints are doing exactly what you're making excuses for regarding Young? Carr lost to the Panthers with the Saints defense gifting the Panthers a rushing TD drive in 4Q and a dropped pass when all they needed was a FG. Hold Young accountable for being at the bottom of his position. Your excuses for Young apply to the other QBs too. Young isn't earning his way and improvement to Minshew or Levis levels is nothing to qualify a QB as a franchise QB.
  14. That's the entire point with the correction of saying Bryce Young isn't even average for the league. Young won't approach the success level of those QBs. They're more consistent & reliable. Andy Reid and Sean McVay are not going to add Bryce Young to their rosters as a #2 if he's available. It's extremely easy to upgrade the QB position for the Panthers. Greatest improvement compared to any other offensive position.
  15. Tepper would have still wanted Bryce Young, Miles Sanders and DJ Chark over Cam, CMC and DJ Moore if that hit never happened.
  16. We can't expect Bryce Young to be better than the other bottom 10 QBs with their offensive weapons? Young needs a SB offense before he can put up average numbers? Cooper Rush, Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, Derek Carr, Jameis Winston, and even Anthony Richardson are all upgrades. Young is barely treading water in the league, and there are going to be 2 to 3 QBs in the 2025 draft that will surpass Young by midseason. 2 more seasons of this subpar nonsense and excuse making for Young is what I'm expecting. Canales likely won't survive Young. The Panthers could go with Cooper Rush, Carson Wentz and Jimmy Garoppolo for their QB room in 2025, and the Panthers offense will regularly put up 30 points while performing at a higher level in the clutch. Canales with a healthy Thielen, Coker, XL, Moore, J.Sanders, Hubbard, and Brooks can get the team to the playoffs with the above QB room. Not with Bryce Young. Sorry, but Young is the one holding back the offense, and he's the easiest piece to improve on with the greatest return.
  17. Why would the Panthers want a playmaking WR when they have a drive killing LT? Obviously the Panthers keep the player who makes for a worse passing game. Always take the player that will improve the offense. Panthers need to improve the QB and LT position regardless of the WR being Thielen, Coker, XL or Garrett Wilson.
  18. Canales didn't miss all those receivers he schemed open either. Blaming Canales when he has to lean on Young, Evero & Pineiro is madness.
  19. Which of these teams is worse? I can't believe the Cardinals had a winning streak.
