Adam Thielen interview with Pat MaCafee...
Zaximus replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
It feels like we've went from being a minor league team to an actual major league team this offseason. -
Yeah this really sucks. I've enjoyed his acting since Oz and then The Wire was just amazing. Loved Fringe and the Wick series. Also, Bosch on Amazon. He had a range of acting abilities, could do it all. I always wanted to watch something he was in. That recent Resident Evil on Netflix was TERRIBLE but Lance was the only good thing in it and he was great. RIP.

That seems cheap. I just hope we aren't sitting on a ton of short yardage situations next season that can't get converted.

Frank Reich has NO EXCUSES… playoffs or bust in 3 seasons
Zaximus replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
The franchise has never had back to back winning seasons so I would hope building some kind of sustained success is the top priority. -
This is good. Someone that knows he's the backup to a rookie to mentor and help him. We don't need QB controversy while the rookie gets experience.

Carolina willing to move Corral. Cost won’t be high.
Zaximus replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah unless we get a really good pick (we won't) I don't see the point of this. Just a bad pick from a bad coaching staff that we are stuck with. We'd be better off letting him compete and learn and be a backup potentially. -
Yeah Weiland was pretty unique in his vocal ability and the band musically has always been really really good. I can't believe we lost so many from that era, unique voices.

Jalen Carter may be dropping after this
Zaximus replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is an interesting point, from a legal standpoint at least. He was obviously speeding but he was behind that car and they caused the crash. Legally I'm not sure he had to STAY but could be wrong. Now, morally and character wise, it's majorly messed up to leave people behind like that that were in an accident. -
I mean a lot of grunge copied Neil Yong's 80's stuff too, it's all good. Pearl Jam's Ten was such an amazing record that they didn't feel they could fit Yellow Ledbetter on it which is like a B side from that album and now a staple at concerts (and a lot of people's favorites). They are still making good records. Pearl Jam smartly has evolved over the years. They couldn't make albums like Ten or Vs forever, as they got older they changed and their fans and they didn't try to recreate the early albums at all. Not many bands would do that. Some of their later career stuff has some of my favorites, especially Avacado album for instance. I love that era of music though, easily my favorite. Nirvana may be one my least favorites honestly. I personally don't like them as much as PJ, AIC, STP, Soundgarden, Blind Melon, etc. PJ's Ten, STP's Purple, Soundgarden's Superunknown are some of the best front to back rock albums ever. And AIC's Unplugged album is one of the best live albums, easily. I also think Nirvana's unplugged is great too.

There is a lot of good metal it's just not on the radio or anything you have to find it. All genres. Personally I've been really digging the doom metal resurgence with Pallbearer, Khemmis, Sleep coming back with an album a couple years ago etc. Elder is good too but it's more pysch in these latest albums but still good. Also the new wave of traditional metal like Spirit Adrift and some stuff. Basically all genres have something going on. I was really sad about Power Trip and what happened there, if you haven't listen to Power Trip's last album it was one of my favorite in recent years if you like the chug.

It really does seem like Grohl is actually as awesome as all the headlines. There are too many stories to not believe it. I hope we never find out the contrary (minus regular being a human type things). Foo Fighters have been one of my favorite bands since the 90's (though the last few albums are only OK). We must protect him at all costs.

How Often each team in the NFL went Run-Run-Pass
Zaximus replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
We'd still be pretty high if you took the last 20 years. That's how it has been it feels like. -
Me too. The fanbase needs some excitement honestly. New coaching staff is a good start, but bringing in Carr at a fair price will give a nice jolt. He's not a top 5 QB but people comparing him to Darnold or Baker are just crazy.
-
I wouldn't mind Carr, at a fair contract, I don't expect cheap, but fair. Then draft a QB at #9 if there is one we like and if not get best player at that spot.
-
I mean, Carr hasn't been a top 5 QB but I think it's pretty unfair to compare the guy to Darnold or Baker etc. He was doing pretty well with the Raiders considering what he had to work with for years. He's older but we are in a league where QBs are playing in their late 30's. He's also been pretty healthy as well. Not to mention he's one of the best 4th quarter comeback QBs in the history of the league.
-
Carr has 28 fourth quarter comebacks. We sure could use some of that around here.

I thought this was one of the best episodes of a show I've seen in a long time. It felt like a mini movie. I think it was important not only for the already mentioned reasons but it fleshes out the world a bit more. It shows a little bit of hope in a world where there really isn't. It's just possible the game doesn't have enough content for what they are going for and they needed to come up with some good stories to tie in. I think Offerman is such a fantastic actor, in almost anything I have watched him in. Comedy, drama, etc. This performance should open up even more roles for him. The show IS called "The last of US" so it isn't crazy to see some stories like this etc.

When the two organizations are literally entertainment companies it's an OK comparison. But you are comparing a state of mind which is just dumb between the two.
-
I think this is a pretty bad comparison when pro wrestling fans have known about how things are for decades. Thousands of interviews with wrestlers and promoters on how things work.
-
I don't know if people talking about this are really "upset". In contrast, I think most accept it and watch the game for what it is.... entertainment. Just like a wrestling fan would watch Wrestlemania. I think we still route for the players and coaches who I think are trying their hardest to win and it does annoy when the calls are so bad but I haven't been "upset" in a long time. It's just something to discuss about on a ...discussion board. Why are you so upset people are talking about it?
-
I am not saying they aren't to blame. But they didn't commit late hits and helmet to helmets that were not called in a year where QB safety was prio #1. They didn't bat a fumble that wasn't called. I'm not going to say Rivera and them did a great job ever but they can't do anything to hold a ref from throwing a flag.
-
Read the post you quoted.
-
Try reading. I said I do not believe influencing always works. I think they are good at it, but I do believe a team can still win despite that, it is just much harder to do obviously. But the NFL also really likes Burrow aka "Joe Cool" and they need more than one face.
-
Well for the 10th time, I think it is heavily influenced by the head ref. I think rigged would include a broader range of folks which I don't really think is happening because too many things could leak. These things really became apparent around the time Goodell took over and maybe shortly before. The NFL was not like this in the 90's or before.
-
I don't know, for proof, maybe the reports of 20+ missed calls in the Panther/Denver SB that went Denver's way? The late hits in that game on Cam, helmet to helmets, battled fumble, etc? I think that is the game where it was pretty obvious something was up. Then just watch around the league. If it isn't influenced, then the league is OK with bad refs year to year and muddied rules, for some reason, which also makes the game product pretty terrible.
