  1. Check your facts, pal. Mahomes started the last game of the regular season his rookie year as the Chiefs benched their starters due to playoff position being locked in. And in that one game he showed significantly more than Bryce has shown in his entire career as a starter. Which is what my post was alluding to. Regarding Cam: Going into 2015 he had 50/1 odds for MVP https://www.cincyjungle.com/2015/8/11/9130505/nfl-mvp-odds-released-for-2015-season But going into 2014 his odds were considerably higher as he was coming off a season where he was clearly a top 10 QB before his 2014 was hampered by injury, a bad team and a down year in terms of his play too. Going into 2014 he was 25/1, tied for 8th best MVP odds in the league. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2014-nfl-mvp-odds-peyton-manning-the-obvious-favorite/ Bryce's odds right now are about 100/1. Again, Bryce is absolutely nowhere near the conversation or even the same stratosphere as those guys and putting any amount of money on him to win MVP would just be throwing your money away.
  2. I personally just don't see it on the field. He's had some nice plays, yeah, but overall my eye test says middle of the pick starter in the 15-17ish range. Which again, is completely fine, great for where he was drafted and the position is not a weakness for the team. But he's not a guy who draws significant attention from the D and helps open up the passing game. Not a factor at all as a receiver. He was 15th in scrimmage yards last year (2 WRs ahead) with high usage and an average at best yards/touch. He's running behind a very good OL lately too. Hopefully he continues to improve and proves me wrong and shows those flashes of elite play more consistently but I just don't see it yet. I like the Dowdle signing and think they will complement each other well. They are nowhere near Double Trouble. 1300+ scrimmage yards is honestly a pretty low benchmark these days and plenty of JAGs have hit it in recent years. Not saying these guys are JAGs (jury out on Dowdle) just that 1300 yards can easily be achieved by a JAG with high enough usage and in good offenses with good OLs.
  3. I still think Hubbard is about as average of a starter as it gets at RB, which isn't necessarily a bad thing especially for his draft position, but he's not a guy that teams will ever gameplan for. Every other player on that list was at least at times. I don't like investing a ton in the position but I would still try to keep upgrading. Maybe not next offseason as we already have Chuba locked up and will hopefully get to see what if anything Brooks can offer, but the year after that I'd start looking again for a potential game changer at RB. Not expecting to find one immediately but take some shots on day 3 or in FA. As for our career rushing leaders, yeah it's really not great overall even with the franchise being "only" 30 years old. Stewart and Williams both dealt with injuries AND having to deal with each other (and eventually Cam) taking carries for several years, otherwise could've seen either of them surpassing 10k. McCaffrey wasn't here all that long, was hurt a lot, and his receiving usage took away from rushing yards. Cam's numbers are pretty damn high for a QB whose career was ended pretty early due to injuries.
  4. nah it'd just be throwing money away lol. Cam had already shown he was a top 10 starter and Mahomes in one game his rookie year showed more than Bryce has shown his whole career
  5. Idk maybe. Guys like Favre, Rodgers, Brees also only having 1 kinda takes the heat off the Colts only getting 1 with Manning. And none of those QBs had to deal with the Pats dynasty or Steelers/Ravens mini-dynasties (no they are not dynasties but both those teams were in the mix pretty much every year in the AFC and both won 2 SBs in Manning’s career). Honestly think if the Manning Colts were in the NFC they’d have won 2-3. An elite QB is a big deal but you still have to build a team around them. They could’ve been like the Dolphins with Marino.
  6. He seemed like a somewhat cool dude, much cooler than Tepper or JR. He did bring Indy a team and a Super Bowl (largely due to timing of getting Manning, but still), but I didn’t think he was a great owner, has had the drug issues, etc. RIP. Wonder if his family will sell his sweet guitar collection
  7. nah just get rid of the lottery and make it like the NFL. On the organizational level tanking already exists and scrapping the lottery wouldn't make it any worse. On the coaching/player level tanking does not exist and never will. The lottery system is dumb as fug.
  8. That Pats game in 2013 is possibly my favorite non-playoff game in the last 15 years. A few other candidates that year including 49ers and Aints and of course several in 2015. But I don't really see the parallels or comparison here. Cam was setting records in his first career game and everyone knew he was 100% the real deal from the start. Him getting benched in year 2 was about as farfetched of a scenario as anyone could dream up. The Pats game I did not view as a turning point for him at all, he played an amazing game but he had amazing games before that too. Honestly, I don't even think Cam was all that much better in 2013 than his first 2 seasons. 2015 was his big breakout year before injuries impacted his prime way too soon. That game was more of a statement win for the team and organization than the QB but we had also beaten the juggernaut 49ers on the road the week before as a statement too. Bryce is no Cam Newton and almost certainly never will be, unfortunately.
  9. Still it’s unfair, the massive markets will be able to spend way more than teams like the Hornets. Lakers, Celtics, etc. have a huge advantage
  10. That and the lack of a hard salary cap makes the league an absolute joke.
  11. As always guys will come available that no one expects as other teams go through their cuts too. I think we'll pick up a cheaper vet edge later in the summer. I'd have liked to just keep Clowney but I get the reasoning behind cutting him and I don't think it's gonna hurt the team much at all.
  12. can we sue tepper for continued emotional distress over a long period of time, as well as PTSD
  13. I hope that DC makes his son pay him back the $100k
  14. I think about 11 for me, not quite the old timer some of y’all are but not that far off
  15. My man. I’m with ya, as long as the huddle exists I think it’s the best option for panthers discussion and news. I’ve definitely become much less active since Tepper turned the team to poo and if I lived in NC and had panthers fan friends and acquaintances to talk panthers with maybe I wouldn’t be on much but for an out of towner it’s a great resource for discussing the team and despite some of the clowns here there are plenty of good dudes and discussion
  16. Yes without a doubt especially after investing so much in the offense lately despite all the bullshit from Tepper and co about how he’s a point guard and doesn’t need help yada yada
  17. I’m still not convinced Bryce is the guy but I don’t think there have been any great options for us to bring in for competition. Bryce is the guy this year unless he shows he isn’t then we have Dalton, but in that case we are realistically looking at 2026 QBs anyways.
  18. You’re top dawg!?!?!? poo bro I thought you were just gone
  19. Considering our season was already over we probably should’ve just held him out his whole rookie year. I honestly can’t complain about that pick, I like the idea of trying to get an elite talent at RB on day 2 it just stinks he got hurt again immediately after debuting for us. Teams can get starters on day 2 obviously but more often than not those picks do not wind up working out, so comparing him to a starting LB is silly as it could easily go the opposite way and the other guy we pick could be a scrub not even worthy of being a backup. Brooks could still contribute to this team positively in a year and a half, he’s a talented kid
  20. I’m fully expecting to get poo’d here but at what point do we consider him as Bryce insurance?
  21. It’s a shame they didn’t just keep camp at Wofford indefinitely
  22. I've been out to lunch on this draft cycle but I love the idea of an elite tight end prospect. They really can change an offense and have an extraordinary impact. I like Sanders and think he could still develop into a legit above average starter but it absolutely would not hurt to have 2 really good TEs
