Washington is the place to go for any of these HC candidates. You'll have your pick of the top QBs in the draft and almost 6 picks in the top 100.

I still will totally be floored if the Bears don't draft Caleb #1, but Drake/Daniels is a hell of a consolation prize. Either would have gone #1 last year I think. I know Drake would have. Three phenomenal QB talents (and I liked Bryce perfectly fine coming out you can find my post history I was a big fan)

  2. If what Leaky Faucet says is credible and Evero has a real shot if we don't get Johnson (which we aren't) how would you guys feel about that? He seems crazy respected in league circles. I think there's definitely a scenario where if he were coaching a playoff defense he's considered a top 4-5 candidate right now. I also totally understand those who want to purge this entire regime instead of promoting from it. But he's definitely gotten the wonder kid label from some. I could talk myself into it I think.

Vrabel is still on the table then. Do it tepper. This team needs some grit

I think the quickest path to getting watchable on offense again is to find a new LT, kick Ickey inside, find a power back to go with Chubba and build a run heavy scheme next year. Whoever takes this job, I hope they consider it at least for the short term.

Have we even requested Moore lol

If you’re looking for the wildcard it’s either Monken or MacDonald.

Betting markets don't know a thing when it comes to this sort of thing lmao. Maybe for some jobs, but not most of them.

Teams with open GM slot are more attractive than just an open HC slot

Again, you are fooling yourself if you don't believe that Ben Johnson and his agent aren't picking the GM for the Panthers. It will be a package deal

    We can only hope.

I've also hard the Peters/Slowik pairing for the Commanders which makes sense considering each have ties to SF/Shannahan.

I will say, I think Seattle, LAC, and LVR have different coaching types in mind compared to us so there's really 4 other teams vying for the same crop as us.

NE also seems like they have a plan so I'm unsure if they're really pursuing the OC crop.  Mayo or Vrabel seem like possible candidates.

So it's the Titans, Falcons, & Commanders we're jostling with for our favorite guy.  Unfortunately, the Falcons have a nice roster but the Commanders and Titans aren't necessarily THAT great of rosters/situations.

Factor in our reported pool has more than 4 decent candidates - Ben J, MacDonald, Canales, Slowik, Frank Smith...I think we're still in a spot to get a rather exciting hire.

Our roster though..yeah, that's what needs more than some work.

Commanders are second best opening after Chargers imo. New absurdly wealthy owners, #2 overall pick in a great QB class and the roster isn't even too bad as it already is. There are pieces at WR and on the DL

Interesting point by The Athletic FS this week—

It’s clear we want a culture builder and someone who comes in and establish an identity. That is superseding the offensive guru type. We’re likely wanting best of both worlds, but don’t be surprised if we end up zeroing in on Macdonald or Weaver in BAL.

I saw a fan on twitter this week talking about how apparently on like the first day of rookie mini camp or OTAs or something John Fox questioned the toughness of every single player on the team. Not sure if true or not but we need that so bad.

I think you could have done that with Fritters and Reich still here but not a new crew. That will not end up with good hires in that scenario. I was thinking of another Dalton or prove it guy type backup, nothing expensive like Jimmy G has been(then again Jimmy G in 23 is about right play wise). I don't think you can do that to a new staff and think you end up with anyone good that will be tied to having to play Young another 16 or 17 games.

I think the consensus is this new, fresh regime is getting 2-3 years to start getting this headed in the right direction. No one expects us to be good next year not even Tepper. It’s foolish to play a different QB

After his play this year they have to bring in competition. It doesn't have to be a pick or a trade or an expensive FA, all sound like terrible choices to me at this point. Just someone that can play at NFL backup level. If Young can't beat that out then he shouldn't be starting. What was spent on him is gone along with 2 key people that brought him in so that doesn't matter. Either they can get better play out of him in 24 or he is toast. They already forced him to play most of a season with little improvement so playing time isn't the issue.

Fix the team for sure either way. The lines, WRs and TEs need to happen regardless. As for Bryce if he can't do better in training camp he shouldn't be starting going forward. Sign a backup QB and let them compete.

No you don’t. If he’s going to fail I’d rather him fail epically so ideally we’re back at the top of the draft next year and can draft whoever the best QB is in that draft. I don’t see how bringing in a Garoppolo type to take us from a 3 win team to a 5 win team solves anything besides hurting draft positioning

  10. He gets 2024. He's the clear and undisputed starter next year. The "trade for Fields" or "draft Penix" discussions are hilarious for multiple reasons. Mainly because they aren't happening.

Commit this offseason to shoring up the offensive line and primarily adding weapons. I actually think the line could be somewhat fixed relatively easily. We were without our guards almost all season. Get them back next year. Ideally we find another LT and can kick Ekwonu inside but we'll see.

It is true our receiver room has no speed or even talent. That has to be addressed and priority #1 this offseason. We need quick winners who can generate separation. Maybe Hollywood Brown could sign here with enough money. Someone like that would help.

If Bryce isn't showing real improvement next year the new HC/GM are perfectly justified if they want to start looking for other options as early as 2025. You can usually tell after 2 years.

Slowik’s progress through the interview progress might unintentionally tell us how he feels about Bryce. He had to have built some preliminary plans to coach Bryce if the Panthers picked Stroud instead.

Beyond that it’s well documented the Texans straight up wanted Bryce

Hes part of that famous group, i still feel hes too young right now. Plus hes only had one year at OC and it was a great one tho...

Who knows, I think about the only system or team byce could be a little successful is shanahans. thats all slowik and hes been part of the 3 win to 10 win flip. I wonder how he views on byce.....

We need to approach this offseason fully prioritizing putting Bryce in a situation to make a leap next year. But I also hope every coach we interview is told that if he’s not improving next year they can start searching for alternatives as early as 2025. If we take this from the angle of “it’s Bryce or bust” the job is so much less appealing. IMO you’ll know after 2 years if you have someone you can build around or not

No matter what happens, I got the panthers as the clear odds on fav for the 2025 #1 pick(40%). Panthers are 2 FULL games away form the 2nd worse team/s. Theres no talent and even less young talent. Its just going to be years before 9-8 can even be reached.

Like many others in this thread, Im a fan. I mean personally the panthers are the last sports team i follow. Ive got toooo much invested to walk cause some weak-ass BS about them sucking. Jordan did made me quit the hornets and Im also a former UNC homer.

I mean hating on tepper is the current thing and he deserves it. Still some hope is after fixing the rhule era, he did make the entire coaching staff the highest paid in the NFL. Part of that didnt work out, still not many owners open the vault, just like the practice bubble thats also is coming down. Sure he fuging up every which way, but hes at least trying along with not worring about what the cost are. Hes got to get lucky with the future hires, i hope... its all i got

Right. If there is one thing I will say about Tepper it's that I am confident he truly wants to win and will outspend every owner in the league if that's what it takes. He just has to realize he has to hire people he trusts and completely stay out of their way. Will his ego let him do that? Will his desire to win force him to take a long look in the mirror and realize he simply has to change his approach? If this season doesn't do that, nothing will.

  14. There is zero path to being a good team next season. But there are steps the team could take to lure me back in in terms of actually thinking the team could be on their way to winning again in the future.

    1) Scott Fitterer in his current role has to go. It is difficult to overstate just how incredibly bad he has been as the GM of this team.

    2) Synchronously bring in a head coach and GM. A pairing that has the same vision for building the team. A pairing that has a plan for bringing an identity back to our franchise and refuses to waiver from it. Just having a plan in place.

    3) Make smart moves in FA. I think the pass catcher room is really where we could find upgrades this free agency.

    4) It will be hard to have a bad draft because we need everything. But quit drafting RAS scores and draft players that fit your vision for the future of the franchise. Ideally we somehow find an LT and let Ikey compete for a guard spot.

    5) We get messaging from the owner about what has gone wrong and how he plans to fix it (doubtful)

There is a 0% chance we are making the playoffs next season. But we could at least have some sort of a blueprint we can believe in 12 months from now. Realistically that is what I am hoping for
