  1. And people will say you can’t put Orlov on the third pairing, that’s fine then lol, put Skjei there. You wouldn’t find a better d-corp than Slavin - Burns, Orlov - Pesce, Skjei - Chatfield.
  2. Just my personal opinion but Carolina is probably in the same boat as Ottawa and trying to make a trade before signing Tarasenko. Teams can go 10% over the cap during free agency but doing so essentially negates any leverage you have in a trade. If the Canes signed Tarasenko, then traded for TDA, and then Coghlan signed his QO… we’d be over the cap by like $3.5M. At that point we have no leverage in a Pesce trade. Teams will look at our cap situation and realize that we have to trade him. At this point in time we don’t have to do anything, we can keep him as a rental if we want. I’m sure Waddell doesn’t want to go back on his word but at this point I’d sign Tank and call it. If we can move Pesce in a good deal then we can revisit the TDA trade then but I wouldn’t let that hold us up from signing Tarasenko.
  3. So that I agree with. If they can’t trade him then they either have to lose him for free basically but at that point they can sign Tank to much more than we could.
  4. Ottawa can only put more money on the table after the DeBrincat situation is figured out. If they sign Tarasenko to like a $7M deal then that guarantees DeBrincat is gone and they’ve lost all leverage. At that point they are giving him away. I do agree that they are probably providing more term.
  5. No offense to that guy but he’s probably wrong. Tarasenko is probably getting a similar offer from both teams. The problem with Ottawa is that they have a ton of money tied up that’s not on capfriendly, and that’s DeBrincat’s $9M QO. They are trying to trade him but no one wants him for what he’s asking for. If it comes down to it, Ottawa will have to renounce the QO that they presented him with or just have him sign it. If DeBrincat signs that QO then their money is gone.
  6. I do find it odd that a lot of Canes fans on Reddit and HFBoards think that Teravainen will get traded because of this. I personally don’t; his value is at all all-time low and it’s not like our organization to sell players at low prices. Now if we’re at the trade deadline and we have no intention of resigning him, I could see us trading him and then upgrading on him but I don’t think he’ll be traded any time in the near future. I still think a healthy Canes team (Tarasenko included) would like something like this: Bunting - Aho - Tarasenko Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Teravainen - Staal - Fast Noesen - Martinook - Jarvis Drury I don’t quite understand why people want to ship out offense when we didn’t have enough of it last year. Maybe the majority of the fanbase is looking at capfriendly incorrectly but as long as the the Tank deal is 5,250,000 or less then we can fit him in.
  7. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve been bailed on, Marchment last year comes to mind.
  8. He’s probably not getting signed right now. He got injured in the world championships and had to have shoulder surgery. He probably won’t be able to play until December at the earliest. Someone may add him after he’s healthy.
  9. Going to have to start calling Raleigh, little Moscow.
  10. I actually like Jarvis on the fourth line, he’ll get an easier matchup and you can just tell him to go out there and think offensively.
  11. That could work if they get the retention to 55%, that’s probably where it needs to be. And then we send out Pesce and Drury.
  12. I’d honestly consider canceling the TDA deal now. If Tank signed for $5M then we’re out of cap space. Maybe it would suck to lose Pesce for nothing but a defensive unit of Slavin - Burns, Orlov - Pesce, Skjei- Chatfield would be worth it as that defensive unit with our forwards would be good enough to win the cup.
  13. Hahaha she’s pretty good. She only leaks info when she’s 100%. She nailed the Skjei trade a few years ago.
  14. Apparently Waddell said today that the Aho extension is close and that they are working on Skjei, he was asked about Pesce and kind of deflected. After adding Tarasenko I think we may see Pesce moved (probably for prospects and picks) and then we’ll see the TDA trade go through. Bunting - Aho - Tarasenko Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Teravainen - Staal - Fast Noesen - Martinook - Jarvis Drury Slavin - Burns Orlov - Chatfield Skjei - DeAngelo Coghlan Andersen Raanta Kochetkov
  15. For anyone that uses cap friendly they are starting to update things a bit, they’ve removed Rees, Ponomarev, and Rees. They have left Suzuki who can also be removed. The true number we have in available cap space is $5,320,583.
  16. In addition to Miller, I liked what I saw from Justin Robinson, Nathan Mensah, and even James Bouknight at times. Nick Smith, Bryce McGowens, Kai Jones, Amari Bailey, and Leaky Black left a lot to be desired.
  17. Brandon Miller finished with 18 points (5-11), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. I’ll take that stat line every day of the week. And that’s with him starting slow.
  18. Miller got more comfortable as the game went along.
  19. Pesce is gone in my opinion, wouldn’t totally shock me if they moved Turbo.
  20. There’s a credible rumor via The Athletic that we’re adding Tarasenko. What do we think of this forward group: Bunting - Aho - Tarasenko Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Teravainen - Staal - Fast Noesen - Martinook - Jarvis Drury/Ponomarev/Rees/Suzuki
