  1. So just Tarasenko and Bertuzzi really left in free agency.
  2. Killorn headed to the Ducks. Big name off the board.
  3. Orlov, Bunting, and TDA all provide the grit that we needed last year.
  4. Per Michael Scotto of USA Today, the Hornets are considering an offer sheet for Grant Williams of the Celtics. According to Scotto, the Hornets are still negotiating with P.J. Washington as well. I’d imagine that Williams is a contingency plan in the event that things go south with one of P.J. or Miles.
  5. Per Shams. 5YR/$260M deal. The kid is staying in Charlotte.
  6. Agreed, if we get Karlsson then I think one of them is included in the deal for cap purposes and maybe we get Karlsson and some picks. The other gets traded for a top six forward or for picks and we use that open cap space to go get someone like Killorn in FA.
  7. So Canes are sitting at $2.8M in cap space but if we acquire TDA then we basically have no cap space left. It sounds like the Canes are still interested in Karlsson and if my numbers add up, one of Pesce or Skjei (probably Pesce because Skjei has a NTC) could be included in the deal to get it done cap wise. San Jose would have to retain 50%, another team would need to come in and take an additional 25%, and the Canes would get Karlsson with around a $3M cap hit. Canes would probably then turn around and ship whoever is left over from Pesce and Skjei for a forward. Line-Up would be: Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis ??? - Kotkaniemi - Necas Bunting - Staal - Fast Noesen - Martinook - Teravainen Drury Slavin - Burns Orlov - Karlsson Chatfield - TDA Coghlan Andersen Raanta Kochetkov At that point the only thing needed would be a LH 7th defenseman who we could pick up on a PTO.
  8. Sounds like a Karlsson deal is close, either Pittsburgh or Carolina.
  9. Duchene to Dallas, 1YR/$3M, nice deal for them. Not a whole lot left that I like on the FA market. Just Bertuzzi, Killorn, and Tarasenko.
  10. Canes current roster: Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Necas Bunting - Staal - Fast Martinook - Drury - Noesen Ponomarev Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Orlov - Chatfield Coghlan Andersen Raanta Kochetkov We still need a high end forward and I think that will be acquired via trade. Skjei and Pesce are probably both on the block and from the sound of it, the Canes are still interested in Karlsson and still plan to acquire TDA.
  11. Yes without TDA, with TDA probably $1M. The forwards are coming next when we start shipping defenseman out.
  12. Per Kevin Weekes it’s a 3YR/$4.5M AAV deal. He’s gritty and borderline dirty but he should do well next to Staal.
  13. Canes will get something for them which they’d rather do than lose them for nothing in FA.
  14. More grit on the way, Carolina is closing in on Michael Bunting / 3 year deal.
  15. I highly doubt he’s ready and even if he is I wouldn’t put him out there until January. Coming off two ruptures, you need a full year at least.
  16. He’s the gritty defensive defenseman everyone wanted. He’s exactly what this team needs. Defensively he’s better than Skjei and if we add Karlsson and TDA then you’ve replaced the offensive production that Brady brought. I know fans get attached to players but the Canes have a number on long term deals and they aren’t going to go over that number, even for guys like Pesce and Skjei.
  17. Yep, it’s this 100%. Nikishin and Morrow will be ready in two years and the Canes don’t want to overpay Pesce and Skjei on long contracts when they can give up extra cash now on short term deals until Nikishin comes over and Morrow is ready.
  18. Also the AAV is high but in two years that contract comes off the board and Nikishin comes over. 4D chess by Waddell.
  19. Pesce is a righty and Orlov is a lefty. May mean Skjei is gone but Pesce could be joining him.
  20. From what I’ve heard that deal is going through in two weeks once full year has passed since TDA was traded.
  21. The Orlov signing is great but odd. He’s a lefty but he’s a top four defenseman. LeBrun is also saying that we still want Karlsson. Maybe the Canes plan to move both Skjei and Pesce for forwards and bring in Orlov and Karlsson. Slavin - Burns Orlov - Karlsson Chatfield - TDA
  22. All your defensemen belong to us. Per LeBrun it’s a 2YR/$7.75M AAV deal and it does not take us out of the running for Karlsson who we still apparently have interest in.
