If we go big game (or name) hunting then I feel like one of Morrow or Nikishin will ultimately be traded. I hope I’m wrong through as I’m really high on both of those guys. I don’t particularly want to give up Drury or Koivunen but if we are able to land a top piece with our first round and one of those guys then I’d make the move.

According to reports, the Blues want a first and a top prospect for O’Reilly.
-
Another good option and provides a lot of offense, he’d be good next to Chatfield.
-
I don’t think he’s going anywhere, he’s starting to play better and I’d actually like to see him get some 2C chances but right now he’s better suited as our 4C. I think he’s our eventual replacement for Staal. And I don’t know what team would be interested in a KK for another 7 years other than us.
-
I feel like the LHD we need is a guy who was previously a member of the Canes, I’d try to go get Joel Edmunson from the Canadians.
-
I’d prefer Kane and Toews because I think we are a 2C and a 1RW away from being the overwhelming favorite for the cup. Jarvis is in a sophomore slump and it could do him some good to spend time on the 4th line where he’ll get easier matchups. And don’t get me started on Stastny being our 2C. I’d like to see: Svechnikov - Aho - Necas Teravainen - Toews - Kane Martinook - Staal - Fast Noesen - Kotkaniemi - Jarvis Extra’s - Stastny and Kase The other trade I’d like to see is for a 3rd pairing LHD. Coghlan was better yesterday but I don’t trust him to play meaningful minutes if someone were to get hurt for an extended period of time.

Another thing to note is that I believe the Canes are the only team that could fit both Kane and Toews on their roster while staying under the cap (as long as Chicago retains 50% on both). The rumored asking price for Toews is a second which we could easily do and then you give up a first, Drury, and Stepan (for cap purposes) for Kane.

I don’t necessarily think it’s a short time fix, it’s a chance you take to win the cup and then you retool in the offseason. The NHL draft is a crapshoot so trading away a few picks isn’t that big of a deal, especially when the picks are going to be late. And while Drury is a good asset, he’s one you move if you have a chance to win the cup and in reality, the Canes have an identical prospect to Drury in Jamieson Rees, who is performing quite well this year. The year the Canes won the cup, they went out and acquired Recchi and Weight for bottom of the roster type players (i.e. Stepan), prospects (i.e. Drury), and draft picks. When you are as close as the Canes are, you can’t rob Peter to pay Paul, you have to get into the rental business like Colorado did last year. Under no circumstances should the Canes be looking to move Jarvis, Morrow, or Nikishin right now. We have enough picks and B rated prospects to acquire some rentals to help us get the cup without gutting part of the team or trading away some future blue chippers.

Horvat will cost a ton. Canucks fans are wanting a 1st, Morrow, and Jarvis… while it may not cost that much… it’s going to cost a ton for whoever acquires Horvat. Edit: Here’s a sample trade I’ve seen. Carolina Hurricanes get: C Bo Horvat and F Aidan McDonough Vancouver Canucks get: RW Seth Jarvis, LW Stefan Noesen, D Scott Morrow, 2023 third Under no circumstances should the Canes be moving roster players this year for acquisitions. This team has the chance to win the cup so the best option is to use draft picks and prospects to acquire players. But by all accounts, Vancouver is asking for a young roster player in return for Horvat plus a top prospect.

Aho with the Natty Hatty, don’t remember the last time the Canes had one of those.
-
Now do Jarvis.
-
Aho is back!

Saw a trade proposal on HFBoards with Chicago that had Kane and Toews coming our way for a 23 first round pick, a 25 second round pick, Jack Drury, and Derek Stepan. As much as I’d hate to lose Drury, I’d do this trade because I think it gets us the cup. Svechnikov - Aho - Necas Teravainen - Toews - Kane Martinook - Staal - Fast Noesen - Kotkaniemi - Jarvis Extra’s - Stastny, Kase

Lots of guys going through the motions tonight, outside of the Staal line and Chatfield.
-
Staal leading the boys tonight.
-
First defensive pair Jalen Chatfield tonight! Scratched - No One Injured - Slavin, Kase, Pacioretty
-
No Slavin tonight.
-
Brady Skjei for Norris!
-
Rod said yesterday that at this point the Canes are just waiting for Kase to tell them when he’s ready.
-
Weekes said he wouldn’t be surprised to see the Canes go after Tarasenko or Horvat.

Maybe it’s not how you run a business but I can’t help but feel for the guy. Who knows if he’ll ever play again but if he does; I’d like to see Carolina offer Max a team friendly deal in the offseason for one year so that Max can call it quits on his own terms. -
Well there you have it…
-
Max very well retire after this but if he doesn’t, I’d like to see Carolina offer him a 1 yr. / $2M deal in the offseason. He just settled his family here and he truly seems to like it.
-
The fact that he grabs his calf muscle leads me to believe that it’s his achilles. Throughout every achilles injury I’ve seen, the individual always grabs that calf muscle.

Bo Horvat or Timo Meir if swinging big. Kane is a cheaper option
