2022 Charlotte FC Game Thread
MillionDollarCam replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Football Club
Got Inter Miami tonight but we are in a weather delay, it could be a long night ahead. Same starting XI GK - Kahlina RB - Afful RCB - Corujo LCB - Walkes LB - Fuchs CDM - Bronico RCM - McNeill LCM - Ruiz RW - Jozwiak ST - Swiderski LW - Reyna Subs - Marks, Lindsey, Makoun, Mora, Jones, Bender, Vargas, Gaines, Shinyashiki Not Included - Sisniega, Sobocinski, Alcivar, Ortiz, Rios Injured - Armour, Mello On Loan - Zendejas(Charlotte Independence), Santos (Charlotte Independence), Hegardt (Charlotte Independence), Franco (Talleres) -
So, going through the new additions as well as the subtractions, the Wolves are going to look mighty different next year. The only players that I’m penciling in to make the jump to the Canes next year are Drury and Chatfield. There are certainly some other players listed that could very well be on the Canes but below is the main list that Chicago will be pulling from. Forwards - Stefan Noesen, Malte Stromwall, Mackenzie MacEachern, Lane Pederson, Jamieson Rees, Stelio Mattheos, Ryan Suzuki, Vasili Ponomarev, Noel Gunler, Blake Murray Defensemen - Dylan Coghlan, Joey Keane, Max Lajoie, Cavan Fitzgerald, Ronan Seeley, Griffin Mendel Goalies - Pyotr Kochetkov, Zach Sawchenko There will definitely be more additions but here is where everything stands at the moment for the Wolves. Note - Tarmo Reunanen and Jesper Sellgren were qualified by the Canes but both have decided to go back to Europe next year instead of playing in Chicago. The Canes will maintain their rights.

More Wolves players. It’s unlikely that MacEachern will see time with the Canes next year but he’ll be good depth for the Wolves. -

So if you go five deep on the forward lines you are looking at something like: Svech - Aho - Jarvis Paccioretty - Kotkaniemi - Teravainen Necas - Staal - Fast Marty - Drury - Kase Stromwall - Pederson - Noesen -

Looks like the Canes added a depth forward from the KHL. I think Drury is a lock and then you have guys like Noesen, Pederson, and now Stromwall fighting for the 13th spot. -

Sounds like the Canes wanted Morrow to move up this year but he’s elected to go back to school for one more year to continue to get his body ready for NHL hockey. Nonetheless… the defense is going to be stacked next year. Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Whoever - Morrow -

I also wanted Strome… thought he could have been insurance if KK flamed out as the 2C. -

The only thing I’m curious about is if Marchment was plan A and Paccioretty was plan B or if the Canes were in on both the whole time and they planned on moving Necas out for picks if they got Marchment. Not going to lie, the below lineup with have been fire. Svech - Aho - Jarvis Paccioretty - Kotkaniemi - Teravainen Marchment - Staal - Fast Marty - Drury - Kase Noesen -
I’d hope his own teammate would talk him up. Williams will be fine, the Hornets need a rim protector and they got it. The Pistons are getting a guy with massive upside but bigs are all question marks. Sean May was the summer league MVP and he flamed out in just a couple of seasons. Williams doesn’t have massive upside but he does have a real solid chance at developing into a Clint Capela type player which the Hornets would be fine with.

Who has Duren played, I’ll wait…

Mark was great yesterday, it’s amazing what a big can do when he gets even somewhat decent guard play.

Gold also said that Necas and Gardiner were in the Burns trade. -

They can split it up by buying him out. I think they’d gain like $1.5M this year, if they can find someone to take him by attaching like a 2nd round pick and a prospect then they’d alleviate the full cap hit. -

If Gardiner and Bear are pushed out then I could see the Canes bringing in another left handed defenseman as the remaining depth would be: Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce ? - Coghlan Chatfield Keane They could play Chatfield on his off side but Rod really doesn’t like to do that. Additionally, who plays on Staal’s left? Theoretically Necas could play there but that might not be a good fit and he’s been a right wing throughout his career. Noesen was mentioned and he could be an option as well. Still a lot of things to iron out. -
Think we need some memes for Patches and Burns.

Could be. He’s a power forward with a good shot and could develop nicely on that line. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with Necas, Bear, and Gardiner. Those are the only question marks I see. Theoretically they could move Marty for cap space but I don’t think Rod would let that happen. Everyone else seems penciled in. -

Canes have added goalie, Zach Sawchenko, he’ll be backing up Pyotr in Chicago next year. The Wolves are going to look mighty different next year… -

I think cap wise we’ll have to be about done unless they move Gardiner, Necas, and Bear. We have just under $5M in cap space which will probably go to Necas. I suspect Bear is gone since he just filed for arbitration. It appears that Canes are really going to give KK a shot to be the 2C. I think the only question mark is who is going to play beside Staal. Right now I have it as: Svech - Aho - Jarvis Patches - KK - Turbo Necas - Staal - Fast Marty - Drury - Kase Noesen Pederson Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Gardiner - Coghlan Chatfield Bear Keane Andersen Raanta Kochetkov Obviously this is all subject to change based off of what the Canes decide to do with Necas, Gardiner, and Bear. -

Turbo feeding Patches is going to be glorious. -
For all the talk about Duren, you’d think he’d be putting up 20 and 10 games… but no, Duren’s and Williams’ best games are as followed: Jalen Duren - 13 points (80% FG, 71% FT), 6 rebounds (1 off), 3 assists, 2 blocks, +5 in 26 minutes. Mark Williams - 12 points (67% FG), 8 rebounds (2 off), 2 blocks, 2 steals, 1 assist, +4 in 20 minutes Where is this huge gap that we were all told there was?

True but I don’t think Rod would start him at 2C. They are going to give KK a chance to prove himself. -
Nick Richards has been in the league for three years so he’s obviously going to get more burn… just like Noel, Olynyk, Stewart, and Bagley are going to get more run than Duren.

So when you can’t respond with facts you just spew bullshit? You’re the type of Carolina fan that gives a lot of us a bad rep. Go back to posting on IC… you aren’t contributing anything here.

I edited the post and the point still stands… who is Duren playing? The same completion? Also who is Duren’s point guard and who is Williams’? You keep talking up Duren who has what, a summer league high of 11 points while playing with one of the best guards in summer league?

Mobley and Sylla Duren is playing against the same comp.
