I would definitely do that trade for sure. I think he would be a perfect fit for Rod
It’ll be interesting to see if he’ll be moved. I know there’s been talks on and off about him getting moved.
Have to think we’d be interested if he’s available considering we were interested in his brother.

Landing Reus, regardless of his age, would be massive for the Crown. He’d be an elite MLS player and we’d finally have a CAM.

I thought Freddie was and free agent?
He’s not, he’s under contract for next year.

Lucas Raymond RFA out of Detroit.
22 year old RW/LW put up 72 points this season.
He’ll cost a first round, second round, and third round pick (RFA compensation). Not sure I’m okay with that.

No to Freddie unless he is ok being the backup and mentor to Koochie
There’s zero chance Freddie is not here next year.
You can’t find a goalie less than $4M on the market and Fred’s buyout would still carry a cap hit of over $1M.
I get fans want to just up and get rid of players but that’s not how the NHL works.

Just for the sake of discussion…
Would anyone be interested in Necas+++ for Brady Tkachuk?
Maybe Martin Necas, Jack Drury, Jayden Perron, and a first round pick for Tkachuk?
Jake Guentzel ($8.2M) - Sebastian Aho ($9.75M) - Seth Jarvis ($4.5M Bridge)
Brady Tkachuk ($8.2M) - Felix Unger-Sorum ($831K) - Andrei Svechnikov ($7.75M)
Bradly Nadeau ($918K) - Evgeny Kuznetsov ($3.9M) - Stefan Noesen ($2.5M)
Jordan Martinook ($2M) - Jordan Staal ($2.9M) - Jesper Fast ($2.4M)
Jaccob Slavin ($5.3M) - Brent Burns ($5.28M)
Dmitry Orlov ($7.75M) - Jalen Chatfield ($3M)
Brady Skjei ($6.5M) -Scott Morrow ($916K)
Frederik Andersen ($3.4M)
Pyotr Kochetkov ($2M)
Buyout - Kotkaniemi ($835K)
Obviously a lot of guys would have to take discounts but that could be a fun team.

Paid attention a little bit last year now that the Canes are done I need to pull for another team. Strengths, weaknesses, standings outlook this year. Help educate me so I can enjoy some soccer in the Carolinas this summer.
Team is performing better than expected.
Dean Smith has this defense playing at a high level and we’re finding ways to win. Kahlina is also playing like the best GK in the MLS at the moment.
We’re also doing this with injuries to our best player in Liel Abada and our starting RB in Jere Uronen. Ben Bender is also expected back soon and while I’m not super high on him, he did have 2 goals and 1 assist in 45 minutes of play for Crown Legacy in a conditioning game.
We also have two open DP slots that we are expected to use in the summer.
We’re currently in sixth in the east and if we can hover around that line until reinforcements arrive in the summer, we might be able to make a push toward the top four and get a home playoff game.

fug that is sad. Damn we really are going to look different next year. Maybe Donny Wadds call pull some magic in the offseason. Who knows.
Hopefully some people do some nice messages for those guys just in case. Those three definitely deserve our appreciation.

Add this here too.
Assistant coach deals are 2 years with a 3rd year option.
I believe that Rod’s deal is for 3 years
LeBrun is saying it’s a 5 year deal for RBA.

Guys necas is going to be tough to see let go. Two years ago, he was in the running to be an all-star next to an Aho. I remember him getting votes as one of the fan votes. I signed a puck for my dads birthday which always stands with me. I really do think Necas is going to go to a team like the leafs that’s prioritizes scoring he’ll get to 80 to 100 points. He will set the NHL on fire. Great player, wrong system.
Give him a nice little fair well painting today.
Might want to include Skjei and Pesce in there just in case.

Damn… Jarvis was beat to poo this year… torn labrum, torn rotator cuff, broken finger… still kept playing.
Fast is also in a neck brace 24/7.
Hockey players are the toughest athletes out there.

I hope he changes his tune on some things.
I was hoping he was going to change his tune on Jeff Daniels… guess not.

Well there you have it…

Yep, RBA is back, as is his assistants.

Necas is going to be stud with a team like leafs that lets their stars shine. I’m going to miss that guy.
Yep, he’ll go to a team that opens it up on the offensive end and be a star.

Necas is not a center. Nor is he staying. Canes will get what they can for him.
Stop assuming Guentzel wants to stay.
Slavin, Skjei, Chatty, Orlov, Morrow and (insert acquired LD here). If Burns comes back he drops off the first pair.
Jarvis and Noesen are priorities, even though they both got handcuffed when RBA started changing lines.
I believe Kuznetsov is a fit on this team and would be a good asset if RBA built the right lines.
Agree on Necas, he’s gone.
Guentzel seems 50-50 to me, Canes would have to pony up.
Still not sure Skjei will be back. From exit interviews he seemed less optimistic than Pesce and I definitely don’t think Pesce is back.
Jarvis and Noesen have to be back.
I think if Kuzy shoots more he could be a great asset. Put him with a passer like Turbo and a net front like Noesen.
-
Skjei is priority number one but I have my doubts that we’ll give him $7M.
As for Necas, Buffalo appears to be interested. I’d target Byram.
-
Solid first half against a good LA team.
Joao Pedro is getting cooked a bit but the defense overall is playing well and Kahlina has been sharp.
Also, love watching Big Pat cook.
-
What’s going to suck about Necas is that he’s going to go somewhere and put up 80+ points. Good player, wrong system.

Martin Necas’ father has confirmed Necas is unlikely to be back in Carolina, he wants to be traded.

I know but both make too much for what they bring at this point in their careers.
I have more thoughts on the team as currently constructed.
but hey if everyone wants to run back the same coach and mostly the same players for a great regular season followed by more postseason failures, then by all means run it back.
Unfortunately NHL contracts can’t be reconstructed so if they are with us they’ll be making what they make.

Sure if Burns and Staal come back for 1-2m max. Otherwise, bye.
They are already under contract.

This makes the most sense. The Canes need to cut salary in a Necas trade, not add it.
Adding a Brady Tkachuk or a Travis Konecny would be nice but we are eventually going to run into cap issues if we don’t start getting contributions from guys on ELC’s.
