2023 Off-Season Thread
MillionDollarCam replied to USDepartmentOfSavagery's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
For the cap space people, the Canes have around $14M in cap space with the following roster and around $11.5M with TDA factored in. Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Drury - Ponomarev - Noesen Rees Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Chatfield - Coghlan Andersen Raanta Kochetkov So we need to find a LH 7th defenseman, figure out what’s going on with Pesce, extend Aho, and sign some forwards. -
Freddie Andersen Rejoins Carolina

Could be the easiest solution. 12 skaters 6 defenseman 2 goalies Then carry one extra of each to get to 23 players. -

Duchene, Bertuzzi, Tarasenko, Killorn, and Pacioretty are still available. Need to add some of these guys. Killorn and Bertuzzi would give us some grit. -

Wouldn’t be totally shocked if that happened because they are our current ECHL affiliate. -

Canes will need to find a place for Kochetkov to play this year since we no longer have an AHL affiliate. -
Freddie Andersen Rejoins Carolina

Waddell shaved $1M per year off of Freddie’s precious cap hit. Andersen and Raanta’s previous cap hit per year - $6.5M Andersen and Raanta’s current cap hit - $5M Good work GMDW. -
GMDW solved the goalie issue early. Andersen is back 2YRS/$3.5MAAV

So as of right now: Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Drury - Ponomarev - Noesen Rees Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Chatfield - Coghlan Raanta Kochetkov Still need another goalie, the TDA deal to go through, potentially one or two more forwards, and probably a LH 7th defenseman. We also need to figure out the Pesce situation and extend Aho. -

Don’t think that’s going to happen though I agree. -
Raanta Returns To Carolina
MillionDollarCam replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Canes shaved 500K off of Raanta’s previous cap hit. Have to think they are looking for another goalie in the $4.5M range whether it’s Freddie, Korpisalo, or Jarry. -
The Finnish Father is back, 1YR/$1.5M. Welcome back Rants!

Erik Karlsson still being mentioned as a possibility for the Canes, starting to think the play is Karlsson and then shipping Pesce out for a forward. Slavin - Burns Skjei - Karlsson Chatfield - TDA -
Lost DSJ to the Nets.

We have no money, everything is tied up in our RFA’s. This is what happens when you give stupid contracts to Terry and Gordon.
-
It’s fugging Klutch Sports being dickheads again. Doubt the Hornets will do it.

Looks like the team will pretty much be last years team outside of bringing back Bridges and adding Miller. Just not any roster spots available unless we trade some guys. G - Ball, Smith Jr. (Nick), Maledon (received a QO) G - Rozier, Miller, Bouknight F - Bridges (received a QO), Hayward, Martin, McGowens F - Washington (received a QO), Thor, Jones C - Williams, Richards Non-Guaranteed Contract - Kobi Simmons Two- Way Contract - Xavier Sneed, Leaky Black And I haven’t even mentioned Amari Bailey who I imagine they’ll try to stash in the G-League and James Nnaji who will probably stay in Spain. Just no slots available unless we start moving some of these guys out.

Assuming Max is looking for more than we are offering. In a perfect world you give him $2.5M and he comes back in the playoffs. But maybe he wants more than that. -

QO’s are in. Coghlan got one; Pool Party (as mentioned), Bokk, and Mattheos did not. -

Rod likes his vets, wouldn’t be surprised to see one of Wheeler or Duchene in Carolina. Also read that we are circling back on Patches. -

That Fast deal is amazing, guarantee he’d get $3M if he wanted to leave Carolina. -

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said that Pesce will be traded or extended by July 1st. Well see if he’s making poo up very soon.
