  1. Kavika Pittman Don't know about Washington, but Gibbs was Denver's OL coach for a lot of the Shanahan years.
  2. I'd also add that this would be a good time to have someone comparable to prime Ryan Kalil. Kalil was one of the best second level blockers I've seen in a long time.
  3. Well that, plus a sad number of those defensive lineman did lose their ACLs. Mentioned one of our own above. That wasn't against Denver but it was the same scheme.
  4. You don't have to be terrible all around to give up a lot of third down conversions. All that's necessary for that to happen is for your team to have one or more exploitable weaknesses. We definitely had that in our secondary, which is why the team looked to improve that area this year.
  5. One thing worth remembering regarding Gibbs and Shanahan's zone blocking schemes in Denver... Those teams made a lot of use of cut and chop blocking, and a bunch of defenders wound up injured because of it. Tampa was doing something similar when colossal POS Keenan McCardell ended the career of then Panther Kavika Pittman. I don't see us employing that aspect of the scheme.
  6. Voth not long ago said that somebody was assigned to help Remmers with Miller, but they didn't do it. A few people on here speculated it might have been Mike Tolbert. That's kind of still on coaching though. How do you let a guy get away with not doing what you told him to do? And if he won't, couldn't you tell someone else?
  7. Rivera was stuck in that "left corner / right corner" thing at the time too. (used to drive me bonkers)
  8. We sure as hell didn't have that under Rivera and Fox. Fox was famously too damn stubborn to adjust the coverage scheme against Arizona even though we had a corner capable of shadowing Fitzgerald and they didn't have jack sh-t outside of him at the time.
  9. Secondary used to be stellar back when they had guys like Rod Woodson. Part of me wonders if that area hasn't fallen off since Tomlin took over, but I haven't looked hard enough at it to say. I do remember some people thought Tomlin was kind of a misfit for the Steelers since he was primarily a Cover Two guy and they were married to the zone blitz.
  10. If you have coaches that are smart enough to do it. We haven't always had that.
  11. Had a feeling that was the old Alex Gibbs style. (man, that guy is a piece of sh-t) Super effective scheme for running the ball though. Shanahan regularly had average backs be thousand yard rushers using it in Denver.
  12. From what I've read, he sounds a little like Jonathan Stewart. Got a lot of little nicks and bruises but didn't miss any starts. He's reported to have given up a career high 41 pressures last season though.
  13. The Athletic actually took a look at what some of the teams that have been speculated to be interested might trade for him. The proposed offers weren't as great as you might think.
  14. They're not getting rid of Erving. Heck, they gave him a pretty good contract relative to some of the other signings. And I'm curious, exactly how much money do you think Little and Daley are making on their rookie contracts?
  15. I actually think it's gonna be fascinating to watch whether Jones succeeds or fails. Mind you, I'm more comfortable knowing that particular experiment is happening somewhere other than here.
  16. There are reports from Yahoo Sports and other sources that the Patriots were "blown away" by Mac Jones at their rookie minicamp. Take it for what it's worth.
  17. 03, I think, right around the time the Panthers closed their official boards. Pretty fortuitous timing for Igo. And yeah, in the days before Twitter, Facebook and all that stuff blew up, Panthers news and info wasn't easy to come by.
  18. Morrow has previously been titled Executive Director of Player Personnel (with Pat Stewart having the same title minus the "Executive") but was for all intents and purposes the Director of College Scouting. The Panthers recently gave that job and title to former WFT scout Cole Spencer. They did a similar "senior advisory" thing some years back with former College Scouting Director Don Gregory shortly before phasing him out altogether. Could be a similar story here but don't know for sure. Morrow and Pro Scouting Director Matt Allen are the last remaining executives from the Richardson era.
  19. For the record, 5 isn't taken on our roster right now.
  20. There's a fair number of good receivers on that list. But come on, Brandin Cooks over Moore? Yeesh
  21. I wonder if he's just messing around or if he's serious.
