  1. I've never bought into it. Back when they had their 100th season, they could've had a historic Super Bowl between the Steelers and 49ers (both of whom were undefeated in Super Bowls at the time) but the Steelers lost to the Chargers in the AFC Championship. I remember thinking, "if you were gonna rig something..."
  2. I've noticed the Bobby Slowik head coaching train seems to have derailed this year.
  3. Not a conspiracy theorist, but I do think the NFL would "prefer" to see the Lions, Eagles and Bills win the remaining games. Another Mahomes-Allen championship game would certainly be a ratings bonanza.
  4. He's technically talking about Stroud vs Bryce with us, so the Texans aren't necessarily relevant. Valid to say Bryce would have gotten his ass kicked down there, though.
  5. If he takes the Raiders job under Davis after snubbing the Panthers under Tepper...Le Ouch That said, it's not farfetched to believe he was self aware enough in the past to believe he wasn't ready. And frankly, kinda hard to deny that his past decisions have put him in a pretty good spot.
  6. I was gonna ask how Stroud looked in the game but it sounds like it wasn't a great showing. I did see that Mongolian cluster $#@& of the last red zone appearance and field goal attempt.
  7. Depends on your mindset. Most guys taking head coaching jobs look at sh-t situations but say to themselves "I can fix it". Is that Johnson? No idea
  8. Seen? No. Haven't been able to watch much where I'm at. Have read plenty of talk about it, though.
  9. Out for sister-in-law's birthday so only half able to watch, but I see the "NFL favoring the Chiefs" discussion is kicking into high gear online again
  10. Arguments I've heard, validity unknown... It's been said he doesn't like the idea of being in direct competition with his old team. How much of a factor that is? Don't know, but it would favor the Raiders and the Jags if true. Have also seen it suggested that he wants to be able to pick his own quarterback rather than having to work with someone picked prior to his arrival. That doesn't seem farfetched. Word also that the Raiders are prepared to pay him a contract that'll piss off other owners. Definitely something I could picture Davis doing but can the Raiders actually do it? We'll see. And yeah, there's the Brady factor (for whatever that's really worth). Brady has reportedly been going "full court press" on Johnson. Doubt Johnson is starstruck or anything like that but Brady might have a convincing argument. Bottom Line: There's certainly loads of chatter, but there usually is
  11. Side Note: The Lions are continuing to try and bolster their offensive line, this time with the unusual move turning in a "draft card" 21 years early Can't say I blame 'em though
  12. Sounds like the Titans picked their GM...
  13. Sounds like they want to avoid the "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation the prior staff had. Kinda wonder if Bryce gave any input on that decision
  14. Might not be a package deal, though. There are rumors that Giants GM Joe Schoen covers Shedeur in Round 1 (#3 overall)
  15. Meanwhile, bad news for Lady Cowboy Fan... Starting to think the circus just might be coming to town
  16. Side Note: Sad news for both sports and comedy fans
  17. As a side note, Newton mentioned he was now supporting eight kids. I didn't realize he had that many.
  18. The gymnast (Jordyn Wieber) tapped out due to their being another underwater challenge. I'd said the one at the end of the first episode was basically like being asked to waterboard yourself in the surf. That one caused her to panic so much that the thought of another one was more than she could handle. Trista Sutter (the original Bachelorette) left as well due to fatigue. Don't care much about bachelorettes but I was wondering whether she and Newton ever discussed the fact that she's married to a former (albeit temporary) Panther, safety Ryan Sutter. Tate just seems kind of lost post-football. That happens to a lot of guys who have never really done anything else. He and Cam had some drama between them over a challenge where Tate just mentally shut down. They buried the hatchet later after Tate redeemed himself in a later challenge. The boxing part was pretty brutal. Newton went a little nuts on his opponent and busted his nose. Former (disgraced) Olympic track and field star Marion Jones was matched up against Travis Kelce's pre-Taylor Swift girlfriend Kayla Nicole. I thought that was kind of a mismatch. Turned out it was...the other way. Nicole broke some of Jones' ribs and she had to withdraw. As to Newton, he was pretty heavily featured in this episode. Cam is easily the best physical specimen in the group...as you might expect. As you also might expect, his boisterous personality rubbed The straight laced, super serious military guys wrong at first, but after some initial conflict he's toned it down and actually seems to be earning their respect now. Honestly, for Newton fans, this show is probably a pretty good watch.
  19. Saw someone make a comment about the Bears having 20 head coach candidates. Thought they were joking... They weren't Some are still at the "interview requested" stage and obviously Vrabel is out, but wow Per Jonathan Jones, the Jets are at sixteen so far.
  20. No words... except to say I think we'll likely stay away from trying to fix guys with "attitude issues" in the future.
