  1. I'm out with Lady Cowboy Fan. What the hell is going on in the Colts-Vikings game?
  2. Yeah, I have. I've also read books on coaching and coaching strategies for fun, and most recently I've been coaching my grandson in a sport I've had to learn myself. But even a casual fan could tell you that no NFL coach gives a sh-t about selling tickets. Their job is to win games. Hell, the vast majority of the fans within this thread have told you bringing Newton back for any reason is a dumb idea that it's time to let go.
  3. Perhaps, but I prefer to think like a coach. If you're looking to sign somebody because they would sell tickets, you're thinking like an accountant. Accountants don't coach winning football.
  4. To be fair, there was really only one thread talking about him prior to this one. Could there be more later? I suppose it's possible. Heaven knows we see plenty of "hey somebody else is doing this so maybe we should try it" threads posted here on a pretty regular basis.
  5. Don't give a flying sh-t about any of that stuff. The only reason you sign any football player is to help you win games. I'm not convinced Cam Newton suits that role right now.
  6. He wants McCaffrey to fail because he views fans of McCaffrey being unhappy as some sort of weird, poetic revenge for Cam Newton. It's honestly a pretty stupid take, but that's his thing.
  7. Several, honestly. Marv Levy is a good example, Dick Vermeil an even better one. And it's worth noting that Reid is also an example of a coach who came in and was successful from the beginning. What you'll additionally find If you look closely is that none of the successful retreads won a championship at their first stop. On the flipside, you'll find the coaches who have won championships then moved on have never duplicated that success at their next team, or even successive teams (like Parcells, for example). I tend to prefer first time coaches, but if you do want a retread, you want one like Frank Reich or even Steve Wilks, not one like Sean Payton.
  8. That's the philosophy we've been using at quarterback for the past three years too. Hasn't gone so well
  9. How do you think those guys got their experience?
  10. The Texans GM took an "indefinite leave for health reasons" a few years ago too. He wound up replaced.
  11. I think Wilks would do it without any issues. He's not a big ego guy.
  12. Ellis quotes Albert Breer's thoughts on the subject... As mentioned before, staffing is gonna be a really big deal.
  13. Scott Turner is another OC possibility if Rivera is canned in Snyderland. I don't know how hot his chair is though. It's hard to read that mess.
  14. My guess would be someone from a fired staff. He has a prior connection to Pep Hamilton but his OC work this past season was uninspiring (to say the least). Ditto Leftwich if Todd Bowles is dumped.
  15. Darnold had more rushing TDs than anyone through the first few weeks of last year and a very long run in our last game.
  16. Rhule creates situations others have to fix.
  17. Neither of those is happening. That was reported previously but later superceded by a report that he's seen how the league is trending and wants a young offensive mind instead.
  18. So we've asked a generic question about Wilks versus whomever this morning, but I think it would be helpful to better define the "whomever". If not Wilks, then who do we see as viable alternative candidates? A couple of names I would start out with... - Shane Steichen - Frank Reich - Ben Johnson - Shane Waldron - Demeco Ryans (not necessarily all my preferred choices but viable options nonetheless) What are the arguments for choosing one of these guys...or someone else?
