  1. He's not the only first round quarterback though...
  2. You might wind up with the same quarterback.
  3. We've talked about it before but it bears repeating. Rhule never stopped thinking like a college coach. He treated Corral more like a college freshman than an NFL rookie. And the whole "earn your position / quarterback competition" stuff was just stupid at the pro level. I remember hearing him brag about how the quarterback competition "brought the locker room together" and thinking "yeah sure, it showed everybody you were a dumbass"
  4. Matt Rhule's two quarterback system was ahead of it's time.
  5. He was a terrible coach. I think that sums it up best.
  6. I wouldn't bet on anybody else outside of maybe Shaq getting traded off.
  7. I don't know if I'd go that far. We'll likely win some games, but I'd hold off on buying the playoff tickets just yet.
  8. Barring injury and provided they keep performing well as a unit, we probably won't see any changes along the line this season for the sake of continuity. But if they were to decide to try Mays as a starter, left guard is considered the easiest position on the line to play.
  9. I could see him as a utility backup.
  10. I'm not real big on the PFF stuff, but for those who are...
  11. Couldn't name much of anything, honestly. Yet despite that fact, just about up until it's firing I had people adamantly arguing with me that he was a good coach and I needed to support him. I think my personal favorite was the guy whose basic argument was that he could "just flat out coach"
  12. Roster and depth chart management is a big part of what a head coach does. Matt Rhule sucked at it.
  13. I think I like Steve Wilks. Because of that, I think I would like to see him succeed more than I would like to see the team get a high draft pick. Whatever draft pick we get, we'll use to the best of our abilities. In the meantime, I'm going to be rooting for Steve Wilks.
  14. How long does that QB last though if we don't have a good enough offensive line to keep them from getting killed?
  15. I get why everybody is obsessed with the quarterback position, especially given that we've missed at it several times now. But the reality is still that teams win and teams lose. Getting the quarterback position right is important, but it's not the only thing.
  16. The problem I see with the whole "we need the number one pick" argument is that it's based on the notion that if we just get this magical unicorn quarterback, everything else will fall into place. We actually had that unicorn a few years back, and yes we got close to a championship but we didn't win it, and we never went back. Why? Same reason that the Chiefs always seem to be in the thick of it while the Packers nearly always falter. You need a great team built around that quarterback just as much as you need that quarterback. There have been teams that have had a great quarterback but not much else. You don't see those teams winning championship trophies. On the flipside though, you saw a team with a quarterback that wasn't necessarily such a special unicorn but had the right pieces around him win several of the past decades Super Bowls. Gotta look at the whole picture, not just the center of it.
