  1. Purdy is a good but not great QB. Shanahan called a game that depended more on Purdy than McCaffrey, who was balling. Wilks got conservative and didn't respond to adjustments made by Reid late in the game. Special teams made crucial mistakes. The Niners has critical injuries mid-game. It was way more than just any single factor.
  2. The mistake is only blaming one and not both. Wilks did what he frequently does; got conservative in the latter part of the game and allowed the other team back in. Shanahan called a poor game putting it on the back of Purdy rather than McCaffrey. Hell, even special teams had miscues. Nobody comes out of this looking like a hero.
  3. Which, if we're honest, is pretty much vintage Wilks.
  4. I'll add this... I love a good story as much as anyone but Shanahan and Lynch probably need to let go of the idea that they can win championships with Brock Purdy. He's a good quarterback, but not a great one.
  5. Shanahan definitely could have done better.
  6. Don't know that I'd go that far. I give Wilks credit for calling a good game overall but in the end it wasn't quite good enough.
  7. Can't say that for certain, though. The Chiefs being down 4 would have meant they'd have had to go for it on fourth down rather than kicking which still could have resulted in a touchdown.
  8. Shanahan actually had to call a time out because he saw Wilks had called a Cover 0 against a formation / situation where it would have been highly dangerous. (Romo called it out from the announce booth)
  9. Never, ever celebrate too early, folks
  10. Checked his twitter. Couldn't find anything definitive
  11. Agree with the second statement. Need more info to justify the first.
  12. It'll only happen if Rhule does something Panthers related...like he did here Most former coaches move on to their new job and don't dwell in the past. Rhule still brings up the Panthers and says things to try and make himself look better...or at least like less of a disaster than he was. Part of the reason why is he likely knows people who can contradict him are generally too classy to stoop to his level. Obviously not a problem for a narcissist like him, though
  13. Voth pretty much indicated it isn't. Either way though, his sole purpose in saying it is to make himself look better and try to deflect blame for the disaster that his Panthers tenure was.
  14. It was initially reported at the time of the draft picks themselves, but not in a negative way. It wasn't considered a defense, just a way of explaining how they worked. Since Fitterer was fired, three or four different analysts have looked back on it and seen it as an issue. And for the record, it's not a defense now either. Working that way was his decision. It basically worked out to drafting by committee (which is objectively a terrible idea).
  15. You're off on your results, though. In the draft where we had 11 picks, we got Horn, Christensen, Hubbard and Tremble, all still with the team and all made contributions last year except Christensen (who even despite that might be the best pick of that class). Others like Shi Smith put in some work as well (still surprised he didn't stay given he would have been perfect for a West Coast type attack). As to how you draft badly, making it a collaborative effort helps a lot. In that draft we got Terrace Marshall because Joe Brady lobbied for him, Thomas Fletcher thanks to Rhule and others. Likewise, we later took Matt Corral because of Ben Mcadoo, DJ Johnson because Ejiro Evero wanted him, Kalin Barnes again from Rhule, and so on. Fitterer's biggest failure was rooted in taking a too collaborative approach with everyone rather than just making the picks straight from the draft board the scouting staff put together. Mind you, the one big "flipside" argument could be Stroud vs Young, depending on what you believe.
  16. Dude, you couldn't "get my goat" if you were a professional goatherder What you've done in this response though is basically admit that I own you since you want so badly to oppose me on anything...even when that opposition is stupid. Not like it wasn't obvious anyway, but hey...
  17. Sure, dude. Pretty much everybody knows Rhule is a lying narcissist. Voth (who would have been there) basically called bullsh-t on his claim. But if you wanna try and defend Rhule on this one, good luck. It's dumb, but good luck anyway.
  18. Voth said he left after the final pick. That would have been the time I'd have expected the team to be calling on undrafted guys.
