  1. Watched it. Nice video. One of my complaints about college highlight reels is way too many of them feature only throws to wide open receivers. This one had some where he was throwing to a guy who was closely covered. Appreciated that. On the vast majority of his throws, he set his feet nicely and showed good mechanics. There were a few long ones where his back foot came off the ground (they'll wanna coach that out of him) but for the most part he was solid. I'll have to check out a full game tape of him sometime.
  2. I've watched Willis, and I can honestly tell you he's not anywhere near the level of college athlete that any of the people you named were. I get the comparisons and playing style, but Young, Jackson, Murray and Newton were all much more effective against far better competition. I just don't see it.
  3. Talented passer, absolutely. And if they also happen to be a talented athlete, that's great. But it's not an essential requirement. The non-negotiables for an NFL quarterback are passing accuracy, the ability to read defenses and quick decision making. If you have those, then regardless of whether you're a great athlete or not, you can win in the NFL. If you don't have those, then no matter how good an athlete you are, you're just not gonna be anything special. You might have some fun highlight reels, but you're not gonna win championships.
  4. There's examples on pretty much an annual basis, going way back. Akili Smith was an amazing athlete too. And heck, I think about six different teams tried to make something out of Jeff George.
  5. Haven't watched him much, but I've heard plenty of good things about Jurkovec.
  6. That...hasn't really proven true in the past. There have been plenty of athletic quarterbacks drafted with the idea that somebody could teach them how to read defenses and throw accurate passes only to see them massively bust at both. Whether or not Willis will pan out? Don't know, but his athleticism doesn't guarantee a thing.
  7. I don't really give a damn about exciting or boring. Michael Vick was as exciting as anybody but the Falcons never won sh-t with him. Drew Brees and Tom Brady were boring as hell but they won games, playoffs and championships. Give me somebody that wins. ... Now with all that said, I'll state once again for the record that I don't want any quarterback from this year's draft class either.
  8. Tepper missed out on the last quarterback he wanted. Doubt he's gonna want to do that again. If it's true that he really wants Pickett, I've got a feeling that's who he'll get.
  9. Most centers can play guard. Mind you, the reverse isn't necessarily true.
  10. To be fair, he probably didn't take his agent on that trip. I'm not expecting Mathieu, but you never know.
  11. Hope the wife is doing well, John.
  12. Yeah, I haven't heard anybody talking about these guys being "versatile".
  13. We still had Carter at MLB and not much at safety.
  14. Same. Always loved his reports on Sportscenter.
  15. Don't think that was deliberate on McKissic's part, but it did kinda work out that way.
  16. Meaning that I feel like even if Darnold wasn't here, Rhule still wouldn't want Newton.
  17. Ellis actually got a little info from Jon Alexander on what's different. The official organizational structure hasn't changed, but Rhule is choosing to (or perhaps having to) listen to the other voices in the room more so than last year. So while last season it was "What I say goes", this year it's more "Here's what I think, so what do you guys think?
  18. Quite a day here... We've got more news than we've got front page
  19. I'm pretty good with it so far. As always though, we'll see what happens when the bullets start flying.
  20. I might end up reviving my old "Big Ugly" signature once the lineup is set
  21. Rhule had full control last season. Lots of people with connections are questioning whether he still does
