  1. That is something we have consistently struggled with. Keeping mediocre JAGs around forever.
  2. Wilson is a better QB than Cam was(outside perhaps 2015 version Cam) but I think the biggest differences are that Carroll is a far superior coach to Rivera and the Seahawks are a far, far superior organization to ours. Staying at that level goes way beyond just having an elite QB. Deshaun Watson wasn't able to make that dumpster fire in Houston work. Cam wasn't able to make the dumpster fire here work.
  3. Yeah, I noticed that too. He wants a very analytical approach to all the processes and not a bunch of firing from the hip kind of mentality. I appreciate that.
  4. Technically he mentioned them as the #2 priority, so that should mean a lot.
  5. Correct. You take the good from each spot that you have been and place that you have learned(keep in mind he was also employed by the Giants) and make it your own thing. And for those worried he just wants to make us a carbon copy of Seattle, the question was asked if he was going to start bringing over scouts from Seattle and he basically said, "I am going to work with the talent in this organization."
  6. I mean, I will take their version of mediocre over ours. In fairness to them, there are no perfect rosters in the NFL. Even the Packers and Chiefs have some obvious warts on the roster. I don't disagree that having an elite QB definitely propels them into contending status but they are far from a talentless roster. I don't know that what they have planned is Seattle 2.0. I think the biggest things we will do that they do is have the same kind of organizational feel, it sounds like. Collaborative and a little more free thinking that perhaps the average NFL front office. I don't think that is a bad thing.
  7. No offense but if they are the standard bearer of mediocrity....what the fug are we? There have only been 3-4 franchises as successful as they have been over the past decade.
  8. Yeah, he would have scouted him coming into the NFL and would have had some knowledge of him as a multiple time free agent in the NFL.
  9. You are surmising intent when it isn't known. If I was to do similar, I could say only Chinn was worthy of contacting and that isn't what he said at all. Don't read the tea leaves too much. They just make tea.
  10. 9 straight winning seasons and 8 of 9 years in the playoffs. Yeah.....who would want that?
  11. Yeah, I don't think a lot of the things the organization is talking about in regards to QB are really intentional shots at Teddy(the Tepper comments, maybe) but it just so happens that all those elite attributes that they talk about defining a franchise caliber QB.....Teddy just doesn't have those. But, the bulk of us knew that before we signed him, so this isn't earthshattering information. It just looks targeted after the season because Teddy performed so poorly in some of those areas.
  12. Yeah, a move like that all just comes down to price. KJ isn't the kind of player that is the one key piece to make us a good defense for a playoff caliber team, so we can't break the bank for that kind of upgrade. I am down for impact veterans if they are at the right price.
  13. It's the job. They are trying to get a slip up and get any inkling of info at all.
  14. Yeah, I had the same thought. All the attributes the organization keeps talking about wanting at the QB position....Teddy doesn't have many of them.
  15. Seattle has had some pretty consistent issues with quality OL play in the past few years.
  16. Hence why I was so averse to bringing in a game managing type QB. It makes the job of building a successful franchise so much harder. Game managers don't have the greatness to cover the weaknesses of others. It's amazing that some Panthers fans don't have an appreciation for that after watching Cam have to drag a perpetual assortment of "who dat" players on offense up and down the field most Sundays.
  17. Unless it is a pretty cheap deal, KJ Wright is probably not a great investment for the future. In the short term, he's great but it probably doesn't make a ton of sense to plug a need with an expensive player that isn't likely to be here for the culmination of the rebuild. This is also likely KJ's last opportunity at a decent sized NFL contract.
  18. You could, but that is a difficult market. Oddly, and this is a reason why the NCAA forum was so dead, is there isn't a tremendous amount of crossover here to the hardcore college fans. It's also a lot more competitive with social media platforms being what they are. More people are choosing those avenues than when the Huddle and all these older message board communities were being built.
  19. Holmes, Caserio, Baalke, Mayhew are all in situations that are really set up for them to fail. I'd say it's probably one of those guys. Caserio seems like the safest bet because Houston is just such an exceptional disaster at the moment. I'll say that if Watson gets dealt, it will be him.
  20. Right now a lot of that market is really mired in the various networks of fan sites(all behind paywalls) for specific teams. Rivals, 247/Scout, etc. A lot of them have free message boards and have for more than a decade, so the majority of those communities are fairly committed to them.
  21. There was more than one game in which he shared the bulk of the blame for losing. Early in the season the fact was that while he and the offense were good, our defense just couldn't give them the chances to win games. Then in the second half of the season that defense really started to improve and they were keeping us in games. Well....that was when Teddy started to poo the bed the most. That isn't sustainable. Ask yourself if he is effective as Ryan Fitzpatrick, the most obvious example of a backup caliber QB that can crush it as a starter for a few games before coming back to earth. IMO, he is not.
