  1. This is very true. I am a bit nervous about our team being a good spot for a QB to develop, admittedly.
  2. Yeah, I want the new GM and the coaching staff to be making those kind of decisions.
  3. I have been concerned about Tepper and him potentially being a meddling/micromanaging owner. He definitely had shown some signs he could be that guy. Let's hope it just doesn't happen.
  4. I'd give up a couple of picks for him and try to get them to take Teddy. That is worth giving up a pick to get rid of that contract.
  5. I don't think Jacksonville is going to be very willing to give up Minshew considering how cheap his contract is. He's probably one of the best #2 QB's in the NFL.
  6. That is also going to require giving up draft capital to get Jones. If we want Jones, we'd be better off trading down rather than expending more draft capital on moving back into the late 1st to get him. The anticipated QB rush in the draft(which may not actually happen) probably necessitates that we take him at 8 if he is "our guy." That is the reality. I hope we haven't decided he is "the guy." But if he is, they are better off taking him at 8 than trying to get cute about it and trade up or down.
  7. Yeah, I get that there are some dumb teams in the league(we are for sure in that category) but the 49ers front office has been fairly good in recent years. Hard for me to envision them wanting Teddy as anything other than a "bridge" QB. But that situation doesn't make sense for where they are as a franchise. If anything they should be in a "win now" mode.
  8. I assume because they are not idiots. I am no fan of Garoppolo but he is very clearly a better QB than Teddy has been at any point of his NFL career. They can basically jettison Jimmy now if they simply want to shed his contract. The amount of dead money is miniscule even if they cut him prior to June 1st. We had a system that favored a QB like Teddy and it didn't produce TD's. That was largely Teddy's fault. So why take a step backwards if you are the 49ers? Listen, I hope they think like you and for some insane reason believe he is an upgrade. That would be fantastic for us.
  9. The 49ers do not want to replace Jimmy G with Teddy. They want a guy like Teddy because Jimmy G is injury prone. Why on earth would they want to downgrade their QB??
  10. Need I list all the college QB's with video game stats that didn't make it in the NFL? Mac Jones is not a top tier QB prospect. He is a low ceiling and relatively low floor guy. I wouldn't be against drafting him but, IMO, he's a 2nd round or later prospect. Taking him at 8 would be a fuging nightmare.
  11. Yeah but you can get him for pennies compared to what his current contract is. I can assure you, Teddy won't be looking at an eight figure contract if/when he gets cut.
  12. I question any of these "cap hell" teams when they are talking about Teddy. Why make your path to getting under the salary cap for 2021 even harder? People are ignoring how bad that contract is and that not many teams want it or can afford it at the $180 mil cap level.
  13. Well, it is clear he was just chasing money and not a ring. Don't tell @SizzleBuzz that his hero is money hungry.
  14. That is a very expensive backup. I'd be pumped to get rid of that contract
  15. My answer to all the people bitching about the Watson threads....where is the content you are providing? You have other Panther or NFL issues to discuss? Let's see the threads, in that case.
  16. I mean....it's the football "dead period." Post Superb Owl and pre-free agency. There is rarely ever any real NFL news. This is actually one of the most action packed pre-free agency periods I can recall with all these QB moves and potential QB moves.
  17. Great article, but I do notice that he doesn't discuss some of the scheme issues and mechanical issues that lead to some of those stats. Most of the scouting info specifically mentions that because it does stand out when you see his inaccurate throws. I definitely like the stats based breakdown though. Excellent stuff. It doesn't make me change my personal opinion of him. He is easily the most talented QB with the highest ceiling of the top 4 guys. But he also has the biggest leap to make to being NFL ready. If we take him at 8, I will be the first preaching patience. My biggest reason for wanting him is because his intangibles seem to be very, very high. You don't get that a lot in these upper tier talent guys and I believe he is the sort of guy that will do what it takes to keep getting better.
  18. I have heard multiple people say he has a second round grade(The Draft Network analysts being one source). But I would be surprised if he doesn't get taken in the top 10. The QB desperation is so great he will get drafted ahead of his grade.
  19. This is the same shade tbrown at Mac Jones, although his(Jones) placement is more consistent even with both throwing to a lot of wide open guys. My point being that the narrative of him being an inaccurate passer is simply not true. He definitely has some mechanical issues to work on but those are fixable.
  20. If I were him, I would take this tag and bank on the fact the cap is gonna go up in 2022.
  21. I don't think the new deals take effect until 2022 or 2023, so we will likely still be light on the cap next offseason, as well. I am assuming 100% capacity in the fall and even then I would believe it probably simply rises back up to the level it was before this year. I am also okay with the cap being lower next year, because the Saints will remain in cap hell.
