  1. Thanks for posting game previews all season! @Harbingers for the inaugural Hurricanes Huddle MVP! I vote we name it the Chuck Kaiton Trophy!
  2. ASSPN... Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was fined $5,000 for punching New York Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich in the back of the head while he was facedown on the ice, according to the NHL Department of Player Safety. He's not even being punished for the Panarin poo at all. The fine is for the dirty hit that started the scrum in the first place. When it came to Wilson throwing Panarin to the ice, the league also felt it was commonplace when players engage during a scrum. I was joking a few weeks ago, when I said that the NHL wouldn't care about player safety until someone dies on the ice. Seems it wasn't really a joke. If I'm a DA in NY I'm drawing up charges. If the league won't stop Wilson, somebody has to.
  3. The article itself is definitely clickbaity. We would be the laughing stock of sports if we let him go. I'm talking about Rod wanting to keep the staff together and make sure they are taken care of. The way the quote from Friedman was worded sounds like it came directly from RBA or his agent. That's not the type of detail someone just makes up for a story. The rest of it... Of course 30 other teams would kill to have our coach. That's just common sense. And, obviously, having a good friend in a hiring role increases your bargaining leverage with your current employer. Nothing new there.
  4. This could be written about Forslund or Kaiton as well.
  5. Dundon can talk a good game and say whatever he wants. But, this statement is patently false. I don't think RBA goes anywhere. Mr Top Golf can't possibly be that stupid. Then again he's already ran off a few good people to save a buck. I'm sure Dumdum wants to keep Rod around. But, does he want it enough to open the purse strings to the equipment and training staffs? We've already seen that he viewed some positions as expendable. I also don't see Coach or his reps putting this kind of stuff out there for no reason. Sounds like he has reason to believe that ownership doesn't see the need to invest in certain areas of the organisation. Again though, good on Rod! He is using his immense leverage and well earned respect across the league to negotiate better deals for those who lack it.
  6. From some site I have never heard of called Daily Goal Horn... Could Rod Brind’Amour be the first coach of the Seattle Kraken? It certainly is a question worth discussing. Rod Brind’Amour was an excellent hockey player. He was one of the more heady players on the ice and could beat you not only with his skill and power, but his smarts. A lot of that has helped him become one of the best young coaches in the NHL, and probably a highly sought after commodity if he and the Canes can’t work out an extension. I'm not sure I buy into the Kraken angle, but this part stood out to me... Last night on Saturday Headlines, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman gave this update: “I understand that one of the biggest issues there is that Brind’Amour has asked that as much as he wants himself to get a contract extension, he also wants extensions for his coaching staff, the training staff and the equipment staff, which also are not signed for next year,” said Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman during the Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday. “And he said as much as a priority as his contract is, that is also an enormous priority for [Brind’Amour]. So what he is telling the organization is that he wants a situation where they are taken care of as well.” Good on Ron, Son of Bob! He knows that a great comander cannot prevail on his own. Every warrior must enjoy the spoils of battle. Dundon better not fug this up... The two are very familiar as teammates and also on the management level in Carolina. Before Francis resigned as the GM, Rod Brind’Amour was an assistant coach under him with the Canes. Francis eventually had his contract terminated by the Hurricanes when Tom Dundon became the new majority owner. The Seattle Kraken have made it a point not to rush a coaching hire saying they would go all the way up to June 30th if they need to. It’s not like there aren’t excellent coaching candidates available in Gerard Gallant and Claude Julien for instance. So who is Ron wanting for? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.
  7. I agree, he's not there yet. I'd put him 3rd in consideration behind The Greasy One and GrubHub down in the green smoke state.
  8. Yahoo Fantasy Hockey's #1 Goalie... Alex Nedeljkovic – Carolina Hurricanes: With Petr Mrazek still sidelined with a lower body injury, Nedeljkovic has seen more time in the crease and has definitely been earning his starts as of late. He has not posted a single regulation loss in his past six appearances. Nedeljkovic has also posted a save percentage above .940 in five of those six games. His record currently sits at 13-4-3, along with a save percentage of .932 and a GAA of 1.94. When considering goalies who have played at least 20 games, Nedeljkovic has the highest save percentage in the league. I don't know how you give the Calder to anyone else. Ned Levy honestly deserves to be in the Vezina conversation at this point.
  9. This thread makes me feel much better about our draft as a whole. DJ seems to be one of the most honest, unbiased draft experts out there. And, seeing that a consensus ranking agrees lends even more credence. It seems we've brought in a haul of talent that wad badly needed. I still don't understand passing on the 8th prospect for the 14th, unless you think we are set at qb. But, it appears that is what the brain trust believes. Or, are willing to bet their jobs on, at least.
  10. If JJ wants to retire, then this move makes sense. I don't remember hearing that. But, I easily could've missed it.
  11. No one is questioning what Rhule/Fitt believe, rather whether they are justified in believing it. Given the relatively short track record of both, I think it is fair to question their decision making.
  12. Like I said, we know you better than you know yourself.
  13. So do tones and sentiments. Ever heard of a backhanded compliment?
  14. Unfortunately, the message you took from that was to instead tell others how dumb they are to make yourself look smart by comparison.
  15. The huddle's resident insider was pushing it right up until draft day.
  16. You post on here more than anyone else, even the owner. Everyone here knows you. Apparently better than you do.
  17. Thinking the front office made a mistake =/= thinking you are smarter than the front office. It means you think that the front office is made up of humans, who are by nature prone to mistakes. Thinking that someone knows more about something then someone else simply because they are paid to do it is ridiculous. Ideally, that is how it should work but, again we live in a society built by humans. Go to Home Depot and chances are, you know more about the tools in the building than the employees do. Most politically active Americans know far more about the issues than the elected officials do. Hell, I manage a bar at one of the most expensive country clubs on the east coast. We have a multimillion dollar wine cellar and a sommelier who is sitting for his level 3 next week. And we regularly have members whose wine knowledge blows ours away. And they are just wine fans, not professionals who get paid to do it.
  18. Where did I say you did? It helps if you actually understand what you are reading.
  19. Sophmoric rubes whose only arguments are appeals to authority are worse.
