  1. Andy Dalton CARQuarterback#14 ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Panthers have “been getting calls about Andy Dalton for a potential trade.” Dalton has one year left on his current deal in Carolina. The team signed him as Bryce Young’s backup in 2023. He saw significant playing time in 2024 and the team kept him around as a break glass incase of emergency option to replace Young. Dalton was only needed for one start last year. He threw for 175 scoreless yards and an interception while taking seven sacks. The Panthers got trounced by the Bills with a final score of 9-40. The fact that there are still teams interested in Dalton, even as a backup, speaks to the stagnant state of quarterback play across the league. The Panthers wouldn’t fetch more than a late-round pick for Dalton.
  2. 100% Dan is simply trying to get something for him. Expect Andy to be released next week

  4. Update: They didn’t stay static with offensive process even with a playoff berth. https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/2026374014927552793?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
  5. Kaye’s Take: In the rush to blame one or the other, I think the missing thought for most is that maybe it’s BOTH Dave Canales and Bryce Young who aren’t performing consistently well as a tandem partnership together. When it’s great (ATL/DAL), it’s great, but it’s rarely great. Typically, it’s bad (SF/NE/NO) or fine (MIA/NYJ/ATL WK3). If you’re management or ownership, I’m not sure how you can watch these first 12 games and say this is a sustainable workflow. Sure, they’ll probably go and have another big one in the next five games but that’s a 20% firework, not a rocket ship. The #Panthers are a 6-6 slinky of a team because consistency can’t be forged when chemistry is fleeting and fledging. One way or another, there needs to be changes to offensive infrastructure (fwiw that’s life in an NFL offseason anyway). Even if a playoff run happens, the whole point of this slower, thoughtful process (which does have merit) is to not overachieve, accept, and then sink. The team has done a lot of things well behind the scenes and they have generally improved in a lot of areas on the field (defense - talent and coaching, development, rookie class, etc), but you can’t just put your head in the sand https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1993354173640065364?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA

  9. "Center Cade Mayes was not expected back and will hit the free-agent market in March. Sources here at the Shrine Bowl expect the [Houston] Texans to make a run at Mayes once free agency opens to fill the hole they have at center. Mayes, a sixth-round pick by Carolina in 2022, has started 27 games for the Panthers, including 20 over the past two seasons." - Tony Pauline

  11. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah CLELinebacker#6 Browns Beat Reporter reports LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is “doubtful to ever to return to the field.” Owusu-Koramoah suffered a terrifying neck injury in 2024 and missed the entirety of the 2025 season while recovering from the injury. It now appears as if his days of playing competitive football are done. It’s an unfortunate situation for the former Pro Bowl linebacker but he at least appears to have recovered from the injury enough to lead a normal life.
  12. Javonte Williams DALRunning Back#33 Cowboys signed RB Javonte Williams to a three-year, $24 million contract. The deal includes $16 million in guaranteed money and ties the veteran back to the Cowboys through the 2028 season. Coming off a career year, Williams remains with the Cowboys after playing the 2025 season on a one-year, “prove it” deal. The value on the contract is the same as was recently signed by Bears running back D’Andre Swift, making Williams the 16th highest paid back in the league on an average annual value basis. Expect Williams to enter the 2026 regular season as a borderline workhorse after handling 252 carries and seeing 51 targets in 16 healthy games a season ago.
