  1. personally I don't mind a comparison between a young player and our former MVP... but when it has to do with the fact the OL is so bad both are running for their lives...
  2. Sam'll never be the dual threat Cam was, but its nice to have an OC that can utilize a QB's athleticism to a good degree.
  3. I think the Darnold trade demonstrated they will take on a young QB that needs development. Darnold isn't a rookie, but he is young and needs development... He isn't in the same category as Fields in terms of what development he needs but it isn't as if Rhule was only after veteran or proven commodities at QB. Time will tell if Rhule would draft someone like Mahomes if needed / opportunity arises, but he has demonstrated that he values building the team with young players as well as vets so I think that's possible.
  4. I get it isn't about Fields alone, but we weren't in a position to give up what the 49ers did to move to where they did for Lance, since realistically our team had huge holes, so we had to pick from what was available... In a year or two though I agree we may be in that situation. I think pursuing Stafford (and Watson before legal issues) and going in on Darnold do indicate they highly value a quality starter. So that is why I think that I'm less worried about the staff knowing they need a QB as I am the OL... That seems like an area Rhule would very much value, so hopefully we see some significant building there soon. I'm worried a bit they think a mediocre to bad OL is sufficient when you have the playmakers we do.
  5. I dunno man... They believed Darnold could lead a franchise... And I'm not sure they had as much faith in Fields. It may be that the level of QB play you think a team needs and what Rhule thinks it needs are different, but if Rhule was satisfied with just a decent to good QB, he wouldn't have jettisoned Teddy, who was the definition of average. He clearly thinks the QB position is critical. Edit: also being aggressive to go for Stafford, who is an elite QB, should indicate something.
  6. He is not, but when he casually points out how three guys screw up and one TD run was nearly blown up immediately it's a little disheartening. We really need better OL play going forward ...
  7. The number of times he comments on the OL... good find, thanks for the post.
  8. There's a difference between having issues and some of the rumors, which included mention of suicide. To be clear, that was the rumors and not something CJ said.
  9. Seems an overreaction if it's based on likes... And even if there's something there... I think he can get any help he might need. I think he can be productive if he's in a better place. Really early to give up on a 1st round Choice. I think he fell out of favor with Meyer.
  10. Fair enough... Fiz does more than that imo and I don't see PhillyB posting much anymore but both used to post frequently and have quite a bit to contribute. Just difference of opinion I suppose.
  11. Looking over that thread it's clear a lot of fans still liked the guy. Hopefully whatever is going on is something our org can/help him overcome so he can hit his sky high potential.
  12. I agree with all that tbh. I just think the likelihood of him being just average is very very small. I think he's either going to live up to the tools he has... Or fall flat. Hopefully he also can find his footing here.
  13. Someone referenced tweets re:suicide and a coaches visit to his home. Hopefully just fan nonsense rumors. But his lack of production stems from something.
  14. We can't afford to go bargain bin shopping for OL unless our two rookies really, really show out. Right now we need upgrades at 3 or 4 positions... But CB is a need right now too.
  15. All 3 of those have produced great content over the years. Not all still do... Times change, life get busy, etc... Sounds like you may disagree with some of their political leanings?
  16. I think this is either a boom or bust trade tbh. I suppose he could end up being just average but it seems likely he'll either flame out here too, or become a fixture of the D. He has all the physical tools to be great, but it sounds like he's dealing with significant mental health issues. Hopefully he is getting the treatment he needs.
  17. CBs do usually take time to develop, which is where a veteran is helpful for a team that is honestly competing now. But I also trust the coaches to coach young guys up. This is a gamble that could solidify the defensive backfield for half a decade, and it's a gamble with relatively little risk.
  18. He basically had one good game as a pro and then disappeared it looks like. This is a decent gamble, although honestly pretty minor for a 3rd. I kinda would have preferred spending some cash on Sherman but hard to argue CJs potential.
  19. I love DJax but this seals his fate, assuming Henderson plays well. I just don't think we can prioritize paying him the money he deserves. OL really needs to be a priority we spend big on too.
  20. I wonder if Carolina is where he'll want to be... Hopefully Rhule gets him to buy in.
  21. Spitting up blood??? Glad he's apparently okay. I didn't have sound on for the game and didnt even realize he'd left injured. Ugh.
  22. Yup. We are using our picks on young talent. Just young talent for a draft a year ago.
  23. Sure seems it. This doesn't seem to make sense on their part unless the young man is Extremely unhappy.
