I was a Skatt fan and bump the draft thread was before the 4th and I was pleading for him.

I think he's more than just that role. I view Dan and Brandt as CO-GMs. If you watch the blueprint(fyi there's a new one this Friday with focus on rookies), Brandt is doing lots of the calling to the other GMs and he's giving input on players during. You know he vouched for Wharton and nearly everyone signed was younger than 26 years of age. That was by his design in rebuilding this bad team, knowing it takes years... Right now, gun to my head and make me pick one- Brandt easy choice. If you listen to him talk NFL; he maybe known for numbers, but he knows talent and players. 100% hes got ideas on how to run a team and Panthers are implementing some of them.

I thought he only had one year in, but it does look like he came with Dan in 2023. I know Brooks puts that group in a deep hole. Still the others are contributing. XL- had his best game and maybe that's enough for him to be a factor in future games Wallace- Switched to the green dot and playing better each passing week after a horrendous start. Sanders- he's the #1 TE and just when he getting going with recs and yards, he gets nick'd.( he's back this week) CSW- Much like sanders, getting going and then a minor injury hits. He's still the starting NB and not a weak point Crumedy- Part of a legit rotation and has gotten snaps without issues Are we counting UDFAs??- Coker is back, Richardson is a main STer and still waiting for a turn at S, Tremayne is a ST guy and the top backup for WRs. they should get credit for finding him and hitting on the others listed. Far from dogshit and yes it could be much better given the top two picks. Still 4, yes 4 starters, 1 backup and a prayer. Add in the UDFAs, its not the worst class. I will say this rating does change too much after 4 weeks are played. XL can get better and its not too much asking for him to be a #2 type of impact on this team that doesn't pass much. Brooks can shock the world and replace RIco next year, no team knows better about 2x ACL tears to same the knee. (I give him 50/50 never taking another snap). Still he has legit game breaker talent, 50% he could take chubbas top spot as well. Whatever you get is just a bonus. For this group, lets see at seasons end and who remains for the starting 2026. I feel thats fair and not his constant judging each week too many lows and highs.... They are young men trying to figure out the NFL meat grinder. * Brandt/Dan also got a future 2nd in that draft. Plus they kept a 2nd in the draft as well. That lead to getting Nic Scortheearth. If Nic fails, its still a great value at adding a future 2nd....when they didn't have one from the bear trade(thanks tepper/Scott).

The main deal is they are playing better than the 32nd rank unit. Certain groups/players have improved since the seasons start ie LBs, edges, and safety. I wanted to ban Evero form coaching at times last year....... The test is this weekend. I do feel they are around the 18th "best" defense. Sure there have been some awful teams, still I will take this 2025 season over 2024. DL seem to be strength and injuries don't matter (minus dbrown). CBs- Horn is a top 20 guy and even tho Mike Jack just had his worst game, he's had 20 other super solid ones. LB- They have improved each week and yes its still the top weak spot for the roster nerds. Safety- Rock says "Know your role" They are understanding that now. Similar to LBs, improved each week, yes even Nick " Im out in the parking lot depth " Scott. I mean if want the best part, given many are in their 1st and second NFL seasons.....future does in fact look like its going to decent at least. Plus these young bodies are getting snaps and making positive plays. I don't think Ive ever seen this many young players playing well at the same time. Think about it - 2027 lineup ROLB- Nic scortheearth DE- Dbrown NT- Cam Jackson DE- Crumedy LOLB- Prince ILB- Wallace ILB- 2026 2nd/3rd rounder CB- Horn CB- 2027 1st rounder/maybe Thorton??? NB- CSW SS- Ransom S- Trevian Thomas Key backups- Bam, Thorton, Richardson, Reid, Harrsion-Hunter If they keep getting better and develop, it will not be the best defense but it should be legit enough to be respected.

I hate how the collective bargaining agreement has nearly ruined football, BY needs practice and lots more of it. But due to rules and such, he's unable to do so with teammates. Him and Hunter just need a couple hard week to get in sync, same for healthy XL.

What about this fellow-

As great as he was in the first, he was dogshit in 2-7 and one of the worst at signing players. He was even awful at signing Panthers players to new deals. Still he showed just hitting that 1st and once every few years another pick in 2-7(kalil, CJ, Norman, etc). You can field a 7-9 team that's able to make it to the SB with the right timing and luck. Herniay rode the greatest class in Panthers history for 10+ years with the Morgan, Jenkins, Smitty and Cooper was a ACe STer. Everyone called Ravens Gm Ozzie New the best, he had years were his classes were worse than hernaiy/Panthers. The dark secret is this- On average your team gets almost 8 picks (comp) each year. In order for good/great success all that is needed is two of picks to be starters on a rosters that is winning. Then you need either one top backup/swing/dime or a 4 phrase ST main stay. That's all 2.5 "hits" and the bonus is each year finding 1-2 UDFAs for cap space/roster reasons.

Dan drafted 2024 and 2025. Early returns have the 2025 one looking like great overall class. FYI there are 12 rookies on the roster, no one sees Bam has been a ST guy and Thorton is the first guy off the bench for either CB injury/rest. Ftiz was also a UDFA and done well with his "knuckle" KO and 57 yarder. The difference is brandt tillis. There's no wasted draft pick at RB with the 46th overall pick. Right now if you make me choose between Dan and Brandt, Im taking the nerd.....

Fitz, forgive my mind and I have soup brain form moving/no sleep. I seem to recall you and most of the huddle hating on dbrown for the first 1.5 seasons(2.5?). I got to get me a CPAP machine, but my doctor told me to stop being cheap and get the test first cause theres different levels and lots of other stuff rather than just picking a machine.
