  1. Would love to see us go with anĀ alternate blue helmet and uniform. Then weā€™d be set. The Broncos new uniā€™s are meh but the Texans new threads are terrible IMO. The black uniā€™s are too similar to the Falcons. They wouldā€™ve done well to stick to or create some variation of theĀ red alternates.

I think they topokĀ the 'get the guy a year or two too early if you have to'Ā approach. Via necessity.

He fits what they were valuing: QB fixer, young up andĀ coming offensive coach. I thionk it was actually a hire with some hope on the back end if this QB doesnā€™t improveĀ his performance, there will be a guy here already with a culture in place that can do work with talent.Ā

This right here ^. I had read from a few sources that this was their approach going in, so this is not a surprise.

I've got a book for y'all so I will go ahead and write in the first:Ā TL;DRĀ

This is just my perspective, overall approach and best take at a mock (up to pick 39) given what I've seen, read, and heard around.Ā  Based on my own player takes, intel, visits, who's trending, who's falling, and just my gut feeling with this draft.

After pick 39, I have targets that I like for us and have listed them out in no particular order.

    BH's Panthers 2024 Draft Primer & Mock

    Here we go...

    OVERALL APPROACH/SUGGESTIONS:

I want one thing from this Front Office: PatienceĀ Ā

Let it come this year and get the best possible impact starters at 33 and 39.Ā  Donā€™t hyper-focus on filling our vacancies, accept that there will be some remaining after the draft.Ā Ā

Get the best talent possible that matches the type of players we want.Ā  This is not about a specific position.Ā  This is about the best, highest impact player we can find.

However, I get a sense priority is helping Bryce, so this could be offensive heavy with a DB and/or pass rush addition.Ā  That's fine, but don't let the need outweigh the talent available.Ā Ā

    Ā

    NOTABLE ISSUES/CONCERNS:

Center:Ā Sure, I guess Corbett canĀ start, Mays serve asĀ backup, but thereā€™s a long term need here.

All Receiver Spots: Johnson is the presumed X (and more) but heā€™s not a certainty long term. Also-I hesitate to throw a rookie outside if itā€™s a prospect after AD/Ladd.Ā

Thielen/Mingo have issues with age or waiting to break out.Ā  We either need a guy that can create separation and play multiple spots (or) a potential X that can be eased in different ways via motion/crossers/etc.

RB: An all-around type who can become the new centerpiece - A pass-catching backĀ seems a must at minimum for Canales.Ā Ā

ILB: Shaq and Jewell arenā€™t a long term duo, don't think this is resolved.Ā Ā

OLB: Clowney, Wonnum, DJJ, Barnoā€¦could use an upgrade long-term/a better rotational pass rusher

CB: Horn/Jackson/Hill/Bootle is serviceable but could see us going CB earlier than expected

    OL Depth:Ā This never hurts

Developmental QB:Ā A guy for QB3/PS, not a priority, but could be a R7 or UDFA snag

    Ā

    OVERALL DRAFT NOTES:

    • It is a nice blue chipper top-15, then thereā€™s a BIGĀ tier shift.Ā  But that next tier holds in grade until late Round 2, Early 3rd.Ā  It is a great draft in that range.
    • The top IOL talent is going to be similar/if not more coveted than the WR talent in R1
    • The IDL talent will be way more sought after than is being let on (Newton, Murphy, etc.)
    • Mr. 4.21 falls a bit, speed be damnedĀ
    • This class is DEEP at receiver and I foresee impact options in the mid-rounds
    • Deep class at IOL, WR, and DB.Ā  Sneaky decent at RB, sneaky good at DB.
    • There will be long term IOL starters in the 3rd-4th round
    • Iā€™m projecting 3-4 trades in the 1st round
    • Nix is a Round 2 guy.Ā  Penix, late 1st (still like him).Ā  I just donā€™t see them in the top-15.

    Ā

    MOCK DRAFT:

    ROUND 1

1 - CHI - Caleb Williams QB USC

Not much to say.Ā  This is happening barring Caleb doing something career-ending.Ā

    Ā

2 - WAS - Jayden Daniels QB LSU

I believe they prefer Daniels at the end of the day.Ā  He flashed some serious pocket potential while being a high-end playmaker with his legs.Ā  If he hits, it will be above and beyond, so just roll the dice.Ā  A new era in DC begins.

    Ā

3 - NE - JJ McCarthy QB Michigan

This is a popular trade down spot, but I think itā€™s QB 1,2,3, with a bit of a surprise.Ā  The Pats have a lot of needs at the start of their rebuild, but if a franchise QB presents himself, you grab him.Ā  I just think they go with another Michigan product instead of Maye.Ā  This is a gut feeling here.

    Ā

4 - AZ - Marvin Harrison Jr WR OSU

Another popular trade down spot, but nope.Ā  Iā€™m not biting that Arizona moves down with MH available.Ā  They just traded back last year.Ā  Now, in need of weapons, they land themselves a TOP weapon, arguably the best player in the draft.Ā  No need to get cute.Ā Ā

    Ā

*5 - MIN (from LAC) - Drake Maye QB UNC

TRADE #1.Ā  The Giants and Vikings are clearly vying for a QB and this Chargers pick is the one I see being the target spot they both call about.Ā  For the Chargers, their need to give Herbert a legit weapon is serious, but on the other side, people are questioning if Harbaugh goes skill guys high.Ā  I just think MIN makes a major offer too good to pass up.

So, MIN is upā€“Oā€™Connell & Jefferson get their guy.Ā  This would be an incredible situation for Maye, and for a team approaching a make or break season with their staff.Ā  LAC lands another 1st with some big spots to fill.

    Ā

6 - NYG - Malik Nabers WR LSU

With their top QB targets gone, the Giants could trade.Ā  They also have OL needs.Ā  And QB needs...and a few others.Ā  So, I could definitely see NY moving around. Thing is, Nabers is a player thatā€™s just too good to pass on.Ā  Take him and elevate the offense entirely,Ā

    Ā

7 - TEN - Joe Alt LT Notre DameĀ

TEN is a weird team.Ā  HC-Callahan, QB-Levis, RB-Pollard/Spears, WR-Hopkins/Ridley.Ā  I guess thatā€™s what theyā€™re rolling with after being big FA spenders. Alt has been an easy pick in mocks, but itā€™s for a reason.Ā  Would be a huge get and they see if Levis has ā€œitā€ in 2024.

    Ā

*8 - IND (from ATL) - Rome Odunze WR WASH

TRADE #2.Ā  I see a team getting aggressive if Rome is available here.Ā  Could also be LAC with a trade back up for a top WR.Ā  The Colts may seem set with Pittman/Pierce/Downs but I still see a big void for a playmaker there.Ā  Big-move time for Indy to help out AR, they give ATL an offer too good to pass up.Ā

    Ā

    9 - CHI - Dallas Turner Alabama DE/ED

Poles stated their intentions to land one of the draftā€™s blue chip players so I donā€™t see them moving down.Ā  Turner is the cleanest of the pass rush candidates.Ā  I donā€™t have a doubt he can fit Eberflusā€™ defense and there have been plenty of hints in Chi-town that this is the guy theyā€™re targeting.Ā Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

    10 - NYJ - Taliese Fuaga OT/G Oregon State

Theyā€™ve now got Mike Williams and Tyron Smith in house. Ā  Defensively, the front-7 is looking strong with Reddick and QW.Ā  On Offense, Rodgers has the vets he likesā€¦but this is also a team going all in.Ā  They need to protect Aaron at all costs and Smith & Moses donā€™t make me THAT comfortable.Ā  Also, just looking at the talent, heā€™s a great prospect at 10.Ā  Can play G and T, high ceiling, high floor.Ā Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

*11 - LAC (from MIN) - JC Latham OT/G Alabama

The Chargers have shown strong interest in Latham and he fits the Roman offense quite well.Ā  Fans would be super ticked to not get a WR high, but it could very well happen.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

12 - DEN - Brock Bowers TE UGAĀ

Iā€™m not quite sure what the Broncos have in mind this offseason other than their rumored uniform change.Ā  Iā€™m also unsure about Nix or Penix going this high.Ā  Payton has high standards and I donā€™t see them reaching.Ā  Brugler reported theyā€™re a dark horse team for Bowers, and honestly, a top TE kind of makes sense for Paytonā€™s offense.Ā  They need some semblance of offense if theyā€™re not getting a top QB.Ā  Great cornerstone piece, donā€™t see Bowers going much lower.Ā

    Ā

13 - LVR - Quinyon Mitchell CB ToledoĀ

The Raiders are in a spot where the fanbase is getting pretty antsy for an answer at QB.Ā  However, this new regime has Telesco and Antonio Pierce at the helm.Ā  Telesco loves getting sure things (new MO for the Raiders), and Pierce is all defense.Ā  This selection gives them a stout CB1 across from Jack Jones.Ā  Pair that with the DL theyā€™re growing with Crosby, Wilkins, Tyree & Koonce, they could go from good to great on D.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

    14 - NO - Troy Fautanu OT/G Washington

Their defense is in decent shape but if they want that offense to get more consistent, they would be wise to take advantage of the upper tier in this OL class.Ā  Especially with the Ryan Ramczyk news, Fautanu is an NFL LT. Ā  Could be a good fit here.

    Ā

15 - ATL (from IND) - Jared Verse DE/ED FSUĀ

ATL trades down to a spot where they can still land a much needed pass rusher in this class.Ā  Verse stays in the Southeast.

    Ā

16 - SEA - Byron Murphy II DT TexasĀ

Murphy is a stout defender and can get at the QB.Ā  Heā€™s one of ā€œmy guysā€ and think teams will covet him come draft time.Ā  His quickness and movement is next level.Ā  Also reportedly a super high football IQ & film rat type.Ā

Not an apparent top need in SEA but something that makes a lot of sense. Get a top DL target that theyā€™ve reportedly been eyeing.

Love love love the fit.Ā Ā

    Ā

    17 - JAX - Kool-Aid McKinstry CB Alabama

A bit of a surprise he goes before Arnold but this is more due to what I think Baalke will drum up.Ā  Baalke is also not a WR guy ā€“ they seem to be eyeing the DB class pretty closely, Kool-Aid in particular.Ā  Seems high, but itā€™s a gut feeling with Ballke being weird.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

18 - CIN - Olu Fashanu OT Penn StateĀ Ā

This could be a wise direction with Burrowā€™s history.Ā  Sure, Trent Brown is signed and will be their LT, but Fashanu has some positional flexibility and this would make a lot of sense value wise (and for the future)Ā Ā

    Ā

    19 - LAR - Laiaitu Latu OLB/DE UCLA

Ā This would be a pretty great scenario for LAR. Ā  Would really help shore up that front-7.Ā

    Ā

20 - PIT - Amarius Mims OT UGAĀ

I was thinking WR, but I see Pittsburgh being patient considering the value of those available and depth of the class.Ā  This is a super valuable selection. Ā  Excellent fit here since Dan Moore is just a backup (as he should be) and Broderick Jones can go to LT.Ā  Huge upside pick, big boy to plug in at RT.Ā  Tomlin & Khan went to his pro-day and have shown interest.Ā  Steelersā€™ MO is always traveling to meet their 1st round selections.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

    21 - MIA - Graham Barton C/G/T Duke

They have a handful of needs after a cap-casualty filled offseason.Ā  Priority should be stabilizing that offensive line.Ā  Would be a strong pick here to shore things up in front of Tua.Ā  Barton is going to go higher than you think, and he happens to fit McDanielā€™s offense super well.Ā  I can definitely see him gone before the commonly hyped Powers-Johnson.

    Ā

22 - PHI - Terrion Arnold Alabama CB

Philly is a popular spot for edge rushers and DBsā€¦and Iā€™m not really changing that pattern if Arnold is available here.Ā  He would be a really good fit in that defense.Ā Ā

    Ā

23 - LAC - Brian Thomas Jr. WR LSU

This would be quite the scenario for LAC.Ā  Trade down, take one of the most coveted OLs tailored for their system, and then land Brian Thomas Jr.Ā  This ā€œfallā€ is simply because of the talent in the top-15ish, but is still a huge get.Ā  He has excellent potential and this is an easy pairing.Ā  Guys like Latu, Murphy, Fautanu, are legit talents at coveted positions.Ā  Donā€™t think this type of range is out of reach for Thomas.

    Ā

    24 - DAL - Jackson Powers-Johnson C OregonĀ

Dallas is moving into a semi-rebuild situation.Ā  Needs include an LT, C, DB, WR2, LB, quite a few.Ā  But the Jones family has already hinted at OL being a huge draft target.Ā  Guyton could be good here, but Iā€™m leaning JP-J at center.

    Ā

    25 - GB - Darius Robinson ED/DL Missouri

The Packers are a team with particular standards at DL, OL and DB where you can take certain guys off their list.Ā  They also draft young.Ā  Iā€™m unsure if a lifelong Lions fans is knocked off, but Darius Robinson would still be a really solid fit on defensive for them.Ā  Watch out - he could go higher.Ā Ā

    Ā

*26 - LVR (from TB) - Michael Penix Jr. QB Washington

TRADE #3.Ā  With the top IOLs going off the board, I see a field of DBs available that fit TB (Wiggins, DeJean), but this could be a spot where TB fields calls.Ā  Itā€™s a good moment for the Raiders or Broncos to make the jump and grab the guy they want at QB.Ā Ā

    Ā

27 - AZ - Chop Robinson EDGE Penn StateĀ

Pass rusher is a big need and I find it hard to see Chop slip much further after his testing this offseason.Ā  The upside is tantalizing and the Cards need a better defensive identity after skipping on WA Jr last year.Ā  Reminds me of some of the guys Gannon had in Philly.

    Ā

28 - BUF - Ladd McConkey WR UGA

Allen needs a guy to throw to that can do it all.Ā  AD Mitchell has been a popular choice for them but McConkey could add a dynamic weapon that Josh simply hasnā€™t had yet.Ā  Add him with Kincaid and Cook, that offense could start rolling in an effective and different way.Ā Ā

    Ā

29 - DET - Johnny Newton DT Illinois

Detroitā€™s biggest problem, in their biggest moments, was taking over the LOS in big games.Ā  This is the type of dude that can help them get over this hurdle.Ā  So, the Packers take the Lions fan, the Lions take a Bears fan.Ā  Definitely a Campbell guy and would make Hutchā€™s job much easier.

    Ā

30 - BAL - Tyler Guyton OT Oklahoma

Fresh off a big year, the league MVP now has Derrick Henry in house.Ā  I think it would be smart to give them a boost up front.Ā  This happens to fill a moderate need, but more importantly, itā€™s just smart for a team gunning for a SB.Ā  They lost some in the front-7 and could use a defender, but they have more picks for that.Ā Ā

    Ā

31 - SF - Cooper DeJean DB IowaĀ

I had thought Jordan Morgan here for a bit, but DeJean offers a lot for the 49ers.Ā  He really fits the blend of athleticism and high football IQ that the 49ers love on defense.Ā  Would fit really well communicating with Warner pre-snap.

    Ā

32 - KC - Adonai Mitchell WR Texas

To our dismay, Mitchell goes a pick before ours to the SB champs.Ā  This would be a nice complimentary piece to Rice and Hollywood.Ā  Helps give Mahomes one of the more diverse groups heā€™s had since he had Hill.Ā Ā

    Ā

    ROUND 2Ā

    33 - CAR - Zach Frazier G/C West Virginia 6ā€™3 316

    656683145f080.image.jpg?resize=1200,800

If this is how it falls, Iā€™m not running to the podium for any offensive skill players --Ā it allows top talent to become available.

I love everything Iā€™ve been hearing and reading about Frazier.Ā  Iā€™m not going to act like Iā€™m some film guru with IOLs but he has some brute force and doesnā€™t get knocked back much.Ā  And reading about his toughness and leadership is awesome ā€“ I would recommend searching for articles on him.Ā  Hefty experience in both gap and zone, heā€™s ready to slot right into a teamā€™s starting center position.Ā  A ton of snaps (2,400+ center snaps in 3 years), consistent force.Ā  Here you go, starting C.Ā  Excellent value and BPA.Ā

Other Considerations (value wise): Jordan Morgan OT/G Arizona, Edgerrin Cooper LB Texas A&M, Marshawn Kneeland EDGE WM, Junior Colson ILB Michigan

    Ā

    34 - NE - Jordan Morgan OT/G Arizona

They land another one of the promising OLs to help keep McCarthy upright.Ā  Can see Morgan in the first but it was tough to fit him in.

    Ā

    35 - AZ - Kingsley Suamataia OG/T BYU

Cards land EDGE, DB, and a WR.Ā  Time to focus on protecting their QB whoā€™s finally returning to 100% this year.Ā  They have pieces, but they need more depth and a potential starter.

    Ā

36 - WAS - Ricky Pearsall WR Florida (form. AZ State)

Sun Devils are reunited in DC.Ā  Heck, donā€™t look past them trading #40 and more for Aiyuk to bring the whole squad back together.Ā  Best catch rate in the draft +10-yards, excellent route runner, 60/40 slot/flanker guy in college.Ā  The type of safety valve WAS needs for their high upside rookie QB in Daniels.Ā

    Ā

    37 - LAC - Edgerrin Cooper LB Texas A&M

High defensive upside for a coach that likes his aggressive, athletic LBs.Ā  Could be a strong fit in LA.

    Ā

38 - TEN - Kris Jenkins Jr. Michigan DT

Titans could use some flavor on defense and I think Jenkins is going to end up drafted much higher than presumed.Ā  Teams covet the fierce DL warriors at the end of the day and Jenkins has it in his blood.

    Ā

    39 - CAR - Marshawn Kneeland EDGE Western Michigan 6ā€™3 267

    1636809684.0.jpg

Kneeland just bullies OTs.Ā  Makes them look silly.Ā  Has NFL-ready strength, a DIRTYĀ bull rush, can play in the dirt, standing, and is excellent against the run.Ā  He just has a lot of traits that teams look for.Ā  Heā€™s also just very fitting for a rotation like ours and he can do quite a lot.Ā  Once heā€™s off the board, the EDGEā€™s become a bit sparse or more speed-rush/one dimensional.Ā  (Do love Ellis though).Ā  We met with him, and I get a sense heā€™s a guy Morgan quite likes.Ā

Just a tough, powerful dawg here.Ā  Could be a big piece for a long time.Ā  Reminds me of Tuli last year who I loved for us (damn you Fitt)

Alternate considerations: Junior Colson ILB Michigan, Nate Wiggins CB Clemson, Braden Fiske DT FSU, Xavier Legette WR South Carolina, Keon Coleman WR FSU, Ja'Lynn Polk WR Wash

    Ā

    ā€“

    Ā

    REMAINING DRAFT TARGETS:

    LATE-2ND to EARLY 3RD:

Trey Benson RB FSU 6ā€™0 220

He is easily my favorite RB in the draft.Ā  Heā€™s a home run hitter, gap and zone experience as a runner, a quick cutter, plays with balance and toughness.Ā  Just really like the fit as an all-around guy to come in and get the bulk carries.Ā  Instantly changes our offense in a big way.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

    Jaā€™Lynn Polk WR Washington 6'1 203

Polk may not flash speed wise, but his ability to catch through contact and consistently get open is why Iā€™m a fan.Ā  Experience at the X, Z and slot.Ā  Can get all over the place and when he had a game or so banged up, the Washington offense looked different.Ā  I get a sense heā€™s really liked by teams.Ā Ā

    Ā

Xavier Legette WR South Carolina 6ā€™1 221

He plays like heā€™s 6ā€™4Ā and has the jets to beat man.Ā  It makes sense why so many are drawn to the kid - well, that and being a Carolina boy.Ā  However, his late blooming, combined with his lack of short area skills are what get me a bit.Ā  Heā€™s not going to get openĀ quickly against base zone concepts, but he will bully guys for the ball and make plays.Ā Ā

You either need to get him a running start or get him isolated in man to create opportunities.Ā  The team is obviously very interested and I canā€™t deny the potential.Ā  Not the biggest fan but he could be really good.Ā  I could see him in the 2nd if they like him THAT much, top of the 3rd, no problem at all.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

Malik Washington WR Virginia 5ā€™8.5 191

I like this kid a lot.Ā  Heā€™s a hair under 5ā€™9 but I gotta say, his catch radius and the way he plays is larger than how it reads.Ā

I just love how absolutely tough he runs.Ā  His YAC skills, experience as a volume catcher, itā€™s just a lot to like.Ā  He will be a really good asset for any offense, and especially Bryce.Ā  I just love when you can get a guy that WAS his teamā€™s offense.Ā  I get the same vibes that I did with Dell last year around Malik.Ā  Led CFS in multiple categories, has the experience and whole feel for the position.Ā Ā

At minimum, instant impact slot machine.Ā  Maximum, he could get some snaps outside depending on the team weā€™re facing and just blow up year 1.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

Max Melton CB Rutgers 6'0 187

Melton has been flying under the radar a tad but I think weā€™re eyeing DBs and he could be one of them.Ā  Some great quickness and ability to keep up with NFL WRs.Ā  Ballhawk, put up good numbers, very instinctive.Ā

    Ā

Jonah Ellis EDGE Utah & Bralen Trice EDGE Washington

A double EDGE shoutout.Ā  For Trice - I was a fan going into this past season but his game just isnā€™t consistent enough against the run to take him super high.Ā  HOWEVER, this kid, similar to Ellis, just gets after the QB and both are exciting pass rushers.Ā  Given we have a rotation with Clowney, Wonnum, and maybe DJJ, these guys could come in and compete for snaps against Barno.Ā  They have the ceiling to turn into more starting caliber typesĀ sooner than later.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

    LATE 3RD TO 4TH

Javon Baker WR UCF 6ā€™1 202

Another guy with a great catch radius and attitude after the catch.Ā Ā

Can play multiple spots so fits in a few different ways.Ā  Have even seen Dionte Johnson compsā€“Not to mention, spent 2 years with Bryce Young so there could be some chemistry there even if they didnā€™t have a ton of statistical production together (he was behind quite the WRs at Bama in 2020)Ā

Honestly, if he and Bryce are tight, this could be a really strong prospect for us.Ā  Love his X-potential.Ā Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

Marshawn Lloyd RB USC 5ā€™9 220 4.46 & Jaylen Wright RB Tennessee

Lloyd is the next RB that I think could work really well for Bryce.Ā  Can catch, love his sudden change in direction combined with his acceleration at that size.Ā  Brings a lot to the table and would compete with Hubbard for the top snap count pretty quickly.Ā  Good blend of physicality and receiving ability.Ā  Ā Ā

Wright is also right there with him, could go higher.Ā  Some great all-around ability, tough runner, big play ability, home run threat.Ā  He's like a jacked Kamara.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

Ben Sinnott TE Kansas State 6ā€™4 240

I think Sinnott is the TE to land from this class after Brock.Ā  If heā€™s floating around in the 4th, Iā€™d love to see us be aggressive and get him.Ā  Just donā€™t lose capital, get a package together that makes sense.Ā

Great production, was his teamā€™s leading receiver (not the best offense), but like with Malik, I love when itā€™s a guy with the bulk volume experience for his offense.Ā  Thatā€™s a person who has already faced and handled a diverse set of players, and has likely matched up more along the way against NFL talent.

    Ā

    Dru Philips CB Kentucky

This is a DB prospect not to sleep on.Ā  Physical, athletic, strong, with speedā€¦willing to go toe-to-toe with bigger WRs even at his height just under 5ā€™11. Needs to shore up some of his tackling skills, but thatā€™s why guys end up in the 3rd-4th.Ā  Strong potential.Ā Ā Ā

    Ā

    SLEEPERS/LATER ON

    Cornelius Johnson WR Michigan 6ā€™3 212 4.44

Heā€™s a guy who has grown on me during the process and watching McCarthy and Wilson.Ā  He plays with attitude against DBs, has a great speed + size combo, and NFL ready tools.Ā  He would be a strong developmental type to have behind Dionte and who knows, maybe he could have an impact early.Ā Ā

    Ā

Anthony Gould WR Oregon State & Jacob Cowing WR Arizona 5ā€™8 170

These dudes are burners.Ā  Size may bring both down draft boards but they get vertical and are fun to watch.Ā  Both started 3 years+ and could be rather effective sooner than later.Ā Ā

If we go with a bigger guy early, I wouldnā€™t look past adding either Gould or Cowing late rounds.Ā  Just take a flyer on one of these types.Ā

    Ā

    Ā

    --
Okay, well that's it for now, may add more later.Ā  Cheers.

    Ā

I would take this all day any day. A+ grade on Day 2 if it fell this way.Ā

    33 - CAR - Zach Frazier G/C West Virginia 6ā€™3 316

    39 - CAR - Marshawn Kneeland EDGE Western Michigan 6ā€™3 267

65 - CAR -Ā Trey Benson RB FSU 6ā€™0 220 orĀ Xavier Legette WR South Carolina 6ā€™1 221

Ben Sinnott TE Kansas State 6ā€™4 240 in the 4th round would be icing on the cake.

I think we should target a CB in the later rounds also as insurance for Horn.

can we just forget drafting a center in round 2.Ā  its not happening.Ā  Carolina is not going to let a center sit for a year and there not putting a rookie center in front of Bryce in a year he needs to prove he can play in this league.Ā  The front office has done everything this offseason to protect Bryce, they will not toss in an unknown in the most important spot for Bryce.

Donā€™t forget Corbett is in the last year of his contact and coming off 2 major knee injuries. It would be prudentĀ to draft his replacement this year if possibleĀ to keep continuity on the OLĀ going into next season and beyond.Ā

I mean, Iā€™ve been lobbying for Leggette for weeks and weeks. Ā And it started before the combineā€¦.but now Iā€™m some Clemson hater? Ā

my ideal draft I was pitching was a back to back of some sort of Mitchell and then Leggette back to back play and that was before we picked up that 2nd.Ā

and the top of the 3rd was a possibility then. Ā Now people are driving him up their boards higher. Ā Which happens.Ā

so yeah, Iā€™d love Leggette. Ā At the right place. Which isnā€™t the 33rd.Ā

Iā€™m a Clemson fan but I would absolutely love to hear his name called with one of our 2nd round picks (preferably #39). Watch him play a few times last season and heā€™s the real deal.

What about Dawn Staley as a potential new coach? Tremendous college coach. Lots of energy and charisma. Probably a long shot, but Iā€™m intrigued.

Would be interesting but Staley will never leave USC for the pro. Sheā€™s got too sweet of a deal there.

My take on Luvu was that he was a bit slow to read (2 gap) and liked to shoot a gap.Ā  Not a bad player, but he was a bit overrated by Panther fans because he flew in under the radar.Ā  However, I would have kept him, but tough choices had to be made.Ā  to me, not re-signing him tells me that we are going after a LB in the draft--Even if we signed jewell.

Probably more about scheme fit than anything else. He played better IMO in 4-3 the prior year as SLB. Not sure if thatā€™s the reason he seemed slow last season or not. Could explain why the Panthers let him walk.

I think this might be something they just said, it is rare someone says ā€œyeah we were firing him anywayā€.Ā

Yeah more of a professional courtesy Iā€™d say. This appears to be more of a ā€œmutual partingā€ for Cliff and the organization in general. We definitely need new blood and a different energy going forward.Ā

Isnā€™t that the dilemma, though? Ā Are we drafting to give Bryce ā€˜weaponsā€™ and help him succeed, or to build the best damn team roster to set us up for years to come. Ā BPA if itā€™s the later but, I fear we are drafting, in part, to make Bryce successful and prove he isnā€™t a bust.

Thatā€™s the dilemma though. If Bryce is not successful, the Panthers arenā€™t successful. And weā€™ve invested too much already to help him succeed. It wouldnā€™t make sense to investĀ all that on blocking but not other playersĀ that would fit what our QB does well.Ā

Mingo and Legette are the same player. Size/speed specimen that didnā€™t do anything until their senior season. Senior declaring WRs donā€™t have a very good track record of hitting. I was worried Mingo was another Denzel Mims and Iā€™m worried Legette is the sameĀ

Sorry but I have to disagree. Check this video out. I found it very enlightening regarding Ā the Mingo/Legette debate.Ā

    Appreciate it.

Had to have a stent put in because they found a 95% blockage in my left descending artery. I'm told that particular blockage kills a lot of people, so I'm lucky.

Currently dealing with low blood oxygen. They haven't been able to figure out the cause yet so I'm on oxygen a lot and my energy isn't so great.

To top it all off, my vision isn't so good right now. Likely will have to have cataract surgery sometime soon.

So not online much still pulling for the team.

Best wishes and keep pounding everybody šŸ™‚

Had stent surgery myself a few years back. Sorry to hear your having complications but hope you recover soon.

    Mingo was a mistake.

Hard to call Mingo a mistake with the shā€”show we had last year. With three of our new coaches, including our HC, with a background in developing WRs Iā€™m willing to give Mingo a mulligan in hopes that heā€™ll respond to better coaching. Maybe they can help TMJ aka Funchess 2.0 also but Iā€™m less optimistic about him.
