  1. I know our staff has said they see Luvu as a starter-quality edge guy, and while I appreciate his potential, I also think it is fairly important to bring in a proven guy just to cover all of our bases. I'm thinking Clowney or Zadarius Smith. Both guys can play all 3 downs, will provide pass rush but will also be more stout against the run than what we had last season. I wonder why we haven't heard any whispers about this position of need?
  2. In all seriousness, I have comped him to Russ and Lamar... I see traits of both. Interestingly enough, IIRC, didn't Lamar opt not to run at any point leading up to his draft? I'm hoping we can shore up the left side to complement BC and then can feel good about taking Willis in the Top 10 and bring Cam back to mentor him along until he's ready.
  3. Good counterpoint. I was just thinking about the proximity to Corral's pro day and figured it would be a good gesture to build that relationship with Coach Prime and his program. He is and will be making waves in college football for years to come.
  4. While I understand time and resources allocation, and that no school can stop a team from drafting their players, my opinion is, like in many, if not all avenues in life, relationships matter. And what makes it look worse is that we either already were down there last night or will be there today. I understand if we didn't have a prospect we are strongly interested in currently at JSU, but how do we know? Many times, scouts, despite all of their work, happen upon a prospect they previously overlooked because of pro days, and then they go back and study the tape... it happens every year. Considering that likely all of our brass is in Mississippi today, I think we could've spared a low-level scout. It's just not a good look... and no, they might not be teeming with NFL talent this year, but they have some, and they will definitely become a powerhouse in years to come as long as Deion is there. They are already luring top level, 5 and 4 star recruits. I just think it is just worth it to see what they currently have, as well as establish that relationship for down the road... I also understand that a large part of this is Deion looking out for his players and his program. It's 100% the right play on his part... it's just a bad look for us.
  5. Says when they arrive, they won't forget. Pretty inexcusable that we didn't send any sort of rep or scout at all, considering the full brass will be In Mississippi today for Corral's Pro Day anyway. https://fb.watch/bWPceiDDV8/
  6. I dont necessarily think he is, based off the resume... the QB class is just extremely thin this year, so guys who would've been projected bottom 1st/2nd round are now in consideration for Top 10. Bad year to need a QB, but I still like Willis' potential.
  7. Which is why I think he is gonna be Blaine Gabbert.
  8. Okay, we'll see lol. I put my track record on picks and projections up against anyone on this board, but professionals get it wrong all of the time, so we'll see.
  9. Dammit. If we weren't bringing Cam back, Mariota was the guy I wanted to sign.
  10. The Willis comp is possible, but not likely, as Willis is far more physically gifted, especially as a runner, so he would still have something. And secondly, Pickett is NOT Herbert.
  11. I think one of the local guys already reported last week that we wouldn't be pursuing Baker.
  12. That may be, but I have a bad feeling we're going to take Pickett bc of Rhule, who will become Blaine Gabbert 2.0, and the Falcons will take Willis, who will develop into a Lamar Jackson-type QB.
  13. I'm thinking a guy like Shi Smith is going to be out into that spot this season, with the excuse from Rhule being that he didn't think he was ready last season.
  14. I'm still not understanding why we haven't heard any update on the situation with Cam? Did the sit down take place yet? I think he could kill with this OL.
  15. Well, keep looking John. I just don't get the idea behind acquiring him... its still a retread. And he's solid... I feel like with the right cast, and a good offense, he has Top 15 ability, but I worry about his execution in clutch moments, so my value on him would be like a 3rd or 4th, max. He also struggles to stay healthy, which should also ding his trade value. Niners are trippin.
  16. fuging garbage. And we kept Donte's sorry ass so he can single-handedly lose us a game or two a year.
  17. He fuging sucks, and at that price, did we not learn our lesson with Teddy or Darnold? My God. Just please stop. Spend those picks on a mid-round rookie in the draft and you're still probably going to end up with a better player than Teddy, Darnold, or Love.
  18. I've always loved me some Honey Badger, so I agree. Dude plays so much bigger than his size and just brings a swagger.
  19. RIP to a legend. Was my go to for football news on ESPN when I was a kid. TBH, I thought he had already passed, as he looked much older than he was. One of the greatest football reporters of our time and provided one of the greatest commercials ever as well... RIP John Clayton!
  20. If Tre is convinced of it, I'm guessing its possible it isn't being rushed through bc from looking at his page, Mathieu is at Disney with his family. Prolly not super engaged in contract talks right now.
  21. Nah... especially not if we sign Cam back or bring in a guy like Mariota.
  22. Yeah, and the bad moves we've made (Bridgewater and Darnold) were all pushed for/initiated by Rhule.
