PJ didn't look bad in his one start against Detroit. PJ was the best player in the XFL. He looks like he's competent when he has been given starters reps in practice. I don't think he'll be a worldbeater as a starter, but I DO think he's better than Sam. He obviously has his shortcomings, but anything would be better than Sam right now. Also, I don't think the choice to stick with Sam is wholly based on play - this staff has plenty of reason to want to prove they didn't fug up with their second handpicked QB in as many years.

I want to agree with you, but I don't think it's them doing that to Sam. I think Sam is doing that to himself. He has slowly regressed over weeks to the point that he doesn't trust anything he sees and often defaults to checking down and/or throwing it late, leading to injuring WRs or picks. He can't be trusted to throw it because he doesn't even trust himself. This is the worst offense I can ever recall us running - he needs to sit down.
-
I dont agree with it at all, but I also think its just that much of a testament to how much they don't trust Sam, which is why he needs to sit.

Coaching leaves a lot to be desired but if we could get absolutely anything out of the passing game, we are winning easily right now.

Idgaf what anyone says, Darnold needs to sit his ass down. He isn't getting better, he's only getting worse each game and he is completely hamstringing the offense. You can talk all the poo in the world about PJ, but he does two things well that Darnold doesn't- create plays with his legs and throw the ball deep. That's what we need. PJ needs to start the second half. Period. Because otherwise, they are just going to keep punting the ball back to them and our defense will get ran all to hell.

Just what I expect from that cheese faced fluffy fat bitch.

Never thought I would feel this way about Shaq, but I do this season. I love his play and he brings an energy I never saw from him before. He definitely is a difference maker and we need to restructure to keep him long-term at a cap-friendly number. Also love that we have Sulaiman in the building to figure those things out.

Also, equally astonishing is that DJ, despite bad QB play and a couple of less than stellar recent weeks, is still on pace for over 100 receptions and 1k yards. Another young pillar of this team and should be recognized for his greatness nationally.

Amen. Also, sometimes it's easy to forget with how much of a beast he is and how powerful and explosive his playstyle is, but I stumbled across his bio again, and was taken aback to remember he is only 6'1" 235 lbs. This dude is whooping 300 pounder ass every week and destroying QBs at that size. He is incredible. Love me some Reddick! I hope we get him signed long-term because dude is a baller and I also sense he has taken a leadership role on the defense.

Forgive me, as I felt I was fairly knowledgeable and informed on the way the previous roster mechanics worked prior to the change in roster rules with the pandemic, but I just saw we listed him as a protected PS guy this week, again. Any idea why we haven't brought him up on the active yet? I thought Charlton's IR designation was out for the season? So, why aren't we promoting him to the active 53? Maybe hoping to bring another punter in? I thought Edwards has been solid, and at the very least, much better than Charlton was.

Yikes. TMZ is reporting Riggs is expected to be OK, but the pics from the accident look really bad - looks like one car caught fire.

Trade Deadline is Tomorrow, Who do we buy, who do we sell?
Proudiddy replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Eww. Honestly, the only CBs I would consider trading at this point are Bouye and Jackson, for the very right price. Taylor is balling out and has shown some lockdown traits and he is a 5th round rookie. He's only going to get better, no way I'm trading him. Love Donte, too, but the CB room is crowded and he's coming up for a contract... And I definitely think both of them would net much more than Dillard. I'm not interested in trading for him, as his issues in Philly give me pause. -

Nick Foles behind this line would have our staff indicted for murder. -
The beauty of yesterday though was the the playaction did work for the first time in a long time. Those bootlegs worked better than they had since possibly ever this season. The defense started selling out to stop the run on the PA... problem is, Sam is scared to throw. As TheRumGone just illustrated with the pocket time and air yards stats, he doesn't trust what he's seeing in front of him, and thus, he just doesn't pull the trigger or he pulls it extremely late, which is also why it's not a coincidence we have receivers getting laid out and injured every week. He doesn't anticipate anything except being hit. The issue I had with him coming out of college is the same issue he has now - it doesn't matter how "sneaky athletic" he is, or if he has all the arm talent in the world, if he can't process what he's seeing, if he can't progress through his reads, and he can't be decisive and anticipate what read will be open based off what the defense is giving him, then everything else is worthless. And that is his problem. His processing part of his game is his fatal flaw, and it doesn't matter how much coaching or opportunities he gets, the sample size dating back to college is there, and it indicates he can't read a defense. It's also why he's so inconsistent and has flashes of incredible throws (like the 4th down pass to Ian Thomas a couple weeks ago), but he can't sustain it because you can occasionally guess correctly, but more often than not, you won't. It's why this offense is so hard to watch. Look at how many plays yesterday Sam scrambled out of the pocket and instead of, like elite QBs, buying time to throw it downfield, he takes off like a chicken with his head cut off because he is scared to throw it. Brady has made some dumb calls, but it's hard imagining just how limited he is because of what he can and can't call based off the stuff Sam can't do and/or is missing every pass play.
-
My assessment of him coming out of college was his [Darnold] ceiling was a bottom third starter at best. After seeing him further now as our starter, he is not even that. His ceiling is NFL backup, and even that is questionable because he is much more likely to lose you a game than he is to manage one and win it.
-
And he owns Darnold.
-
OL is poo. Agreed. But, part of their issues has been a lack of balance and poor scheming to mask our deficiencies. But, even with our issues, the plays and passes were there to be made and Sam has left plenty of them out there.

If we have a real QB, we would be undefeated right now. Every game we have lost was because the offense couldn't pick up in the games where the defense finally gave way under the pressure of having to carry the team. It was cool watching the run game come to life again, and it's always a pleasant surprise to pound the opponent into submission like that and just take away their will... but, it's also archaic. It just sucks not having a guy you can trust to put the ball in the air.

Anderson on the Hands Team for the On-Side Kick!
Proudiddy replied to Anybodyhome's topic in Carolina Panthers
I keep telling people this. His catch rate was below average in NY too with Sam. And it isn't just Robby. People are acting like our other receivers aren't dropping them - they do, every week. I suspect it's because they either fear it's late and they're gonna get laid out, or they just have a hard time tracking the ball coming out of his hand. I've never seen anything like it. It's one of the biggest reasons I would rather give PJ a shot for the time being, with a full week of practice and preparation... I know he's not a solution long-term and his redzone decision making scares the poo out of me, but we are leaving so much production out of the field because the receivers just aren't comfortable with Sam. Also, Sam hamstrings us because we can't take deep shots due to his hesitancy to throw it. Dont get he wrong, he made some clutch throws yesterday in key moments, but he just leaves so many plays out there... the games we win shouldn't even be this close. -
Official my god how have we sunk so low Panthers at Falcons thread
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, Murray is gonna give us fits. -
Yup, looked good. So did Lochlon (sp?), we looked so much better on ST.

Didn't look limited to me. Shaq was a fuging beast today.
