  1. I'm obviously voting for all of our guys, but who i think should make it, objectively? Locks: Reddick, Shaq, Moton, Zane. If they stay healthy and keep up current level of play: CMC, Gilmore Needs a strong second half of season: DJ, Burns, Chinn, and maybe Elflein (has pedigree and name recognition, and if offense hits it stride with Cam, could catapult him into contention) I'm writing in bc idgaf - Cam
  2. Yup . And it's why I keep saying had Darnold even been below average at QB, we would either be 8-1 or 9-0. All the games we lost, especially Dallas, we couldn't score offensively which allowed the other team to run on us because they weren't under pressure to match our production, bc there was none. If we're able to get up, or even score early, the other team can't slow the game down and run, which our defense isn't as great at stopping as we are the pass. Now with Cam, we can play to our strengths. As I said previously, Cam doesn't have to be 2015 Cam. 2020 Cam could put up MVP numbers with this supporting cast, and is plenty good enough to produce enough offense for us to win every game with the dominance of the defense we have. These are truly exciting times.
  3. Better as expected. But, I don't think these grades are accurate. That was the 4th ranked defense we kept from getting a sack. And I've said from day news of this season, yes, I know Daley has looked bad at moments on the interior, but he flashed early at tackle. Maybe there is hope for him there, and that is where I always believed he performed best. Interesting to see what we do moving forward.
  4. Head coach Matt Rhule says Cam Newton in line to start Sunday vs. Washington http://espn.com/app
  5. PJ just said the same thing. Said the energy on the sideline was crazy and attributed it to Cam. Said he brings the juice and gets everyone loose and ready to play. Said the energy was steady building on the sidelines with every play.
  6. Then when asked about if he thought Cam was the reason for that, you could almost see the realization on his face in real-time as it hit him and he said. "Yeah, now that I think about it... yeah." Ladies and gentlemen, our franchise QB is back home and the juice is back with him. Also, congrats on staying undefeated as a starter PJ!
  7. You didn't see those threads from me... especially not about Sam. I always knew he was trashed but was hopeful I could be wrong, but I never believed in him. Now, any threads about how great the team was are accurate. This is a good team with championship-level defense. Always was. And the offense has some of the best weapons in he NFL. Always did. You can scheme around a poor OL. You can't scheme around a shitty QB, and that was the problem... now we don't have to. The king is back.
  8. I agree with Smitty, but not the idea that he was doing it in purpose. I think he, and the other receivers, legitimately struggled with tracking the ball off Sam's hand, and I also think the fear of getting stretchered off on any given throw also affected their ability to catch the ball when it was thrown to them. I dont think it was making a point at all, I just think there was no trust between the receivers and Sam.
  9. Brian Burns may lead the NFL in all-time missed sacks.
  10. Good poo, bro. I dont follow the advanced/next gen stats very often, or even know where to search them, but I knew just from what I watched that I witnessed a couple travel 50 yards in the air, specifically one in that Seattle game. So yeah, 58 yards is impressive. I think it was rumored he could sling it about 80 yards pre-injury, but 58 is plenty enough arm. As you said, the concern is more can the shoulder do it for a whole season, and I trust and believe it can. The physical checked out good and he was able to play all the games in NE outside of the ones he missed from covid IIRC. I'm stoked Cam is gonna steer us in the right direction for the next few years.
  11. Re: that last wr screen on 1st down... our WR screens under Brady have been atrocious.
  12. Nah, I think it was because the spotter told them to check him for a concussion and the team was forced to take his helmet from him and check him out in the blue tent, and I'm assuming he felt it was unnecessary.
  13. Matt Prater looks like an old farmer who happens to kick FGs as a hobby.
  14. It's amazing to me that the cards aren't holding or chipping or anything st all on these exotic plays, EVER
  15. Yeah, refs are starting to get involved way more than they should. The calls on Daley in the first half were horseshit too.
  16. Well, that was a very typical opening 3rd qtr drive from our offense.
  17. Just saying, Robby also had a not-so-great catch rate when playing with Sam in NY. It was just historically bad this season with Sam, and I think that was due to a multitude of factors including the OL and Brady's calls, but all of that goes back to Sam... it's not a coincidence that all of our receivers struggled with drops off and on with Sam in there, Robby just had it the worse (and I really think the biggest factor in that was receivers fearing they were being thrown into danger every play, and I can't blame them).
  18. He also has read the entire field on several plays, clearly looking for a deeper shot first, and then came back to secondary reads in the flats. He is playing a great game, imo. He isn't scared to take risks, and sometimes that can be a detriment, but if he can balance that out with more of those checkdowns, he's damn near perfect right now. The ball placement and anticipation on the timing routes is the best we've seen outside of a few glimpses from Teddy since Brady became the OC.
  19. In regards to his arm, having watched quite a few of his games last season where I was able to, he did throw a few bullets on a rope that traveled about 50 yards in the air. He has plenty enough arm left.
  20. Yeah, I don't think PJ is an all-pro, and not sure I would feel comfortable with him starting an entire season, but I'm much more confident in him than the majority of the board is and I think he is a helluva backup. Always have. I know the XFL was its own thing, but those guys were professionals and post-collegiate competition and he dominated. He is more than capable.
  21. For them and our defense. It has nothing to do with our offense. And what I have specifically said about PJ is he has had the strongest arm on our roster for the last 20 months until Cam came back (and he still might in regards to ability to throw farther), and that he has been the best available playmaker at the QB position with his legs, and yet, he was sitting behind Teddy and Sam. And I said his one big flaw was his decision making occasionally. Yeah, he threw a pick, but it was still a better misplaced throw than Sam threw all year, if there is such a thing.... it was close. And I'm not gonna knock him for attempting to make a play and being relatively close in a 20-0 game with how our defense is playing. Regardless, are you going to pretend he wasn't throwing at almost a 70% clip and his ball placement has been A-1 outside of that pick? He is making throws that Sam can't make in a wet dream and the offense is moving. These throws to CMC and the timing throws on slants and such are incredible.
