Yeah, but that's my point. He still views those guys as developmental prospects, imo. I think he views a lot of players through the lens of untapped potential, and he thinks he can get it out of them even if no one else has. But, I agree, they are place holders, I just think he believes he can turn them into more while they're here. I also think in regards to the OL, Fitterer's influence is evident too, because Seattle had Wilson playing behind converted OLinemen and other filler for the vast majority of his tenure there since being drafted. I think Fitt views OL as a lower priority position group so they can invest more heavily in playmaking and defense, or at least that's how Seattle appeared to operate while he was there.

Idk, I thought he played fine. He's not going to put up the same numbers at safety as he was in the box every game last season, and thats a good thing, bc we don't want our safeties leading the team in tackles every week. I thought he was good in coverage, and I expect he's going to get a lot more opportunities to ball hawk as the season goes on, so I look forward to that. I'm not worried about him making the switch because it was his primary position in college and he has the physicality and athleticism to be great in coverage.

I think he is overconfident in his ability to develop players. Some guys just are who they are, and Irving and Elflein are those type of guys.

To me, PFF is completely subjective. While it's encouraging when the grades are what you want, that doesn't make them accurate. And fwiw, to that point, as great as Chinn was last season as a rookie, they had him graded pretty low last season as well. They have their favorites and their guys they have an agenda against, and I think Chinn may be one of the latter.

Yeah, I doubt it's just whiplash. His head bounced off the turf. And honestly, when DB landed on him, with YGM in tow, I seriously thought he probably broke some ribs bc they landed on him with their full weight... my ribs hurt watching it and it looked like he was trying to recompose himself when he got up. You could just feel an elephant sitting on your torso watching it.

Means nothing. Historically, whenever they've had injuries, they still tend to whoop our ass, usually with the position that was decimated by injury. Remember last year when they started like 3 practice squad guys at WR? How'd that go?

Mentioned it in the gameday thread, but he appeared to be out there A LOT. And he definitely played great from what I saw... I was somewhat surprised bc I liked what I saw from Franklin last season and he apparently has passed Franklin on the depth chart. Hope he can get back out there ASAP.

I saw a lot I was encouraged by, and excited about moving forward. That 2nd qtr, he looked like a 3rd overall pick/franchise QB. But, ngl, all the hype I felt from that, it quickly subsided in the 2nd half, and honestly, the 2nd half left a sour taste in my mouth overall. I'm hoping he just feels more confident about what he did right early, and carries that forward and builds on it. But, that 2nd half was hard to watch... I know it wasn't all on Sam bc Brady's playcalling went to poo too, but that was rough.

Hello, Jake Verity.

That back shoulder fade should've been caught, but it was a tough, contested catch. The misfire to him in the endzone was big, because a TD in his first game completely changes the outlook of a stat line. Overall, he played great. My biggest criticism of Darnold from yesterday was a few of his reads and the misfires he had, when he had them - most notably missing TMJ in the endzone, the pass to Ian Thomas in the endzone could've had a little more touch on it but still should've been caught, and the miss to Robby on the deep pass in the second half. Any of those 3 passes being completed, especially TMJ and Thomas, would've changed the whole game. TMJ can only be as good as his OC and QB allow him to be. We need more production from receiver going forward, and that falls on Brady and Darnold.

Yeah, I didnt buy into the hype from camp and preseason... after reading up on him when we signed him and seeing how slight he was, then seeing for myself him play in preseason and get absolutely ragdolled while not seeming to get open as much as was reported in camp, then him pouting when he was getting hit st the Colts practices, I already figured he was going to struggle. TBH, Thomas may step up now, and that would be just fine with me.

I'll give him some slack bc when we saw him where he excelled, it was on the left side, I know at guard and I believe he played a little bit st tackle too. But yeah, he was horrible on the right today in pass pro. Brightside is, for the most part, the run blocking was great.

We can’t go into next week with Santoso right? RIGHT?

With the miss today and hitting the goalpost in preseason, I'm done with this experiment. I dont understand why we didn't cut him when the Ravens let Verity go, because we actually gain an asset back for letting him go... and the fact we didn't attempt a 50 yarder just adds to my issue with him. With his seemingly inconsistent accuracy, and he can't even attempt a 50 yarder, we need to try Verity out. Bigger leg and seemed really accurate in preseason, and we save a draft pick. -
Joe Brady inside the 20s and playcalling with the lead. And...

Off playcalling is pretty shitty in the 2nd half so far. Brady not adjusting to their defensive adjustments. -

I remember that being a complaint by some when he was with the Bills, so I know there's something there, but having watched him quite a bit with my own eyes, I would still take him over Teddy 10 times out of 10. He is still much more dynamic. -

Yeah, that pass to Robby was super close to busting that drive open. -

He definitely has. Always been good, but just seems everytime he gets the job, the team immediately looks to upgrade. He deserves a good run to finish out his career.
