Where we now stand: Roster Breakdown
Proudiddy replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I like McDaniels. I really think he deserves more minutes. The remaining Martin isn't bad, and I like some of the edge he brings, but I think ideally he is a bottom of the roster guy... Richard's, ehhh, sorry, but I don't see very much there - so he is who I would let walk. Also, I'd be very willing to move PJ for the right price. -
I think a quarter to a half each game. I prefer a half, but after seeing how Rhule has handled TC and Fan Fest this year with an overabundance of caution, I doubt he gets anywhere close to that. He needs live reps, and so does our OL. I dont think the OL is as bad as many think they'll be... if it means anything, I think this OL has a chance to be one of our best.

I like the jersey selection of Gross, combined with the authentic football short pants that he somehow morphed into capris.

My Fan Fest Thoughts and Observations...
Proudiddy replied to firstdayfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well put. I have been noticing that same phenomenon for quite awhile as well, and despite all of the stats he has put up and the names he is alongside or surpassed in doing so (like last year's stat about him having the most yards over the last 2 years only behind Hopkins, or the most contested catches, etc.), the rest of the NFL fans don't even acknowledge him. And this has all been with mediocre QB play (and for the record, Cam was never mediocre, just injured those last couple of seasons. Referring mostly to Kyle and Teddy). -

Great write up, and to your last point about DJ - ABSOLUTELY. All I know is, DJ must've impregnated one of the EA Dev's wives at some point, bc they hate his guts. -
Well, I fell asleep early and missed Fan Fest and the gold medal game for USA Basketball. Woke up to find out, I didnt miss anything. What a disappointment.

My hope is... Bye PJ!

Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league

Well, my preferred scenario was always to keep Cam, so I'm with you. -

Fields was my #1, but Horn was right there with him, but I figured we wouldn't have a shot at Fields when we picked anyway, so that made it a difficult decision for me once we were on the clock. That being said, what if Horn becomes the best shutdown CB in the league, regardless of what Fields does? I didn't believe in Darnold at all since college, and my opinion won't change much until we see production and change in real games, but if he ends up a Top 15 QB (which I don't believe he will until he proves me otherwise) we may have hit a homerun. I still prefer dual threat QBs, but I'm hoping for the best... and I will say, this staff has shown me enough that if Darnold bombs, they won't hesitate to do whatever it takes to right their wrongs there, so that is encouraging. -

Wait what???? They nixed the cajun filet in favor of a new sandwich??? The world must really be coming to end. What a dumbass idea. What is the difference with the new one? -

Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league
Proudiddy replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Respecrfully, Zod is correct. We literally lost 8 games on the last drive with a chance to tie or win, mostly due to incompetent QB play. It probably all wasn't on Teddy, as Brady was new to his role as well, but most of it was... and a lot of the reason those games came down to that last drive were missed opportunities earlier in the game due to Teddy's conservative style... if Darnold doesn't move the needle in any other way except for being willing to throw the ball downfield and not making mistakes in the redzone, this team will be a 9 win team, EASY. -
Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league

Honestly, anyone who has played any Madden over the last 2 or 3 years already knows... we could've had Cam back coming off his otherworldly MVP season, Smitty in his prime, Pep in his prime, Luke, Reggie White in his prime, and they still would've had us in the bottom third of their rankings. It had been so frustrating for Panther fans and their ratings over the last few years. We get absolutely no respect. Also, their dev team makes has no problem flaunting their personal fandom at every turn... their office is in Tampa, so they have tons of Bucs fans, but weirdly enough, they also have someone there who absolutely loves the Falcons, because they get plenty of love as well. Last year, all year, it was Raiders, Niners, Bucs, WFT, Atlanta, and weirdly enough, Seattle who got all the love. On Ultimate Team, Cam never even got a Flashback or anything and they had DJ Moore as a 80 on a scale of 1-99 all year until after the new year. That game has went so far downhill since they obtained the exclusive rights license... the lack of respect for our teams year in and year out just makes it that much worse. And to show you a sign of things to come for 22... Ultimate Team has Brian Burns as an 87. Not bad right? Well, Jeremy Chinn is an 80 ovr. Remember how I said WFT was one of their favorites? Chase Young is a fuging 86... He didnt even deserve ROY, yet there is a 6 point gap between him and Chinn, and Burns is only 1 better? GTFOH. -
This looks so clean and easy, but thats the point.
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ahh yes, and while that route was developing on any given play last year, 9 times out of 10, Teddy was never looking at it and instead hitting the flat route for a 2 yard gain. -
I didnt think I was alone in that assessment from what we saw from him his first two years when he filled in. IIRC, he started both LT and LG and did really well, and I think I looked up his PFF grade last season and it stacked up well against the other guys we had... he looked impressive and at the very least was able to hold his own, he just couldn't stay healthy. But, I wouldn't be mad if Moore really blows everyone away and becomes Norwell 2.0 either, but I haven't heard much about him from camp so far.
-
I projected Daley as the LG starter bc he is a REALLY good player, and he has shown it when he has been healthy... but, staying healthy has been the problem. I'm not sure if Elflein has experience at RG, but I'd try to play him there, as I think that's the most talented combo at guard. Moton on the left, BC on the right, and Paradis at center. At least, that's how I hope it turns out.
-
No worries. I'd almost put money on it that Sean Payton signs him later this week.

Welp, Terrace is taking his job, quickly. Also, as a guy who was vocal about my lack of belief in Darnold, these passes have definitely increased my confidence in him by leaps and bounds. I know it's practice, but again, we didn't see any throws this deep or accurate all of last season. It's refreshing, and encouraging.

Mitch knocked it out of the park in this draft. Love the selections and maneuvering. And if we make the playoffs for the next 4 seasons, we won't even miss that first... It's lottery protected all the way through. Genius.

Hornet Trade: Mason Plumlee and pick 37 for pick 57
Proudiddy replied to Shocker's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I came around on this move. Mitch was next level all day yesterday. That draft cemented the turnaround. Plumlee, to his credit, had a really good season last year and made some impressive plays, and he has always by far been the best among those brothers... I just didn't like adding salary when taking on a big who still can't space the floor or do much on the perimeter defensively, but he is indeed much better than the centers we've played for the last few years. He is efficient at what he does, and if we can somehow get Kai as the starter sooner than later and Plumlee coming in as the backup, this was incredible. -
