Bryce as my son. Yes I'm posting it again. -
Doesn't need to be a #1 pick at QB in draft

I was not optimistic about Bryce working out long term, but I wanted to see some improvement just to prove the coaching staff was the right pick. Honestly the most disappointing thing for me was how flat the team came out to start the game. I don't know if they don't believe in their coach or their QB or what's going on. But typically a new coach will get a free boost for the first game. I mean even Jeff Saturday won his first game. -
He's not athletic enough for his play style. I greatly overestimated his athleticism because I didn't really watch him much in college. I thought we were getting something closer to Kyler Murray but smarter with the ball. Kyler can get away with being the size of a leprechaun because other than his height he is in the top percentile of athleticism. He could have played professional baseball as well. Similar to Russell Wilson, but Kyler is even more athletic than young Russ was. Bryce just doesn't meet the minimum bar to play QB in the league. I don't know that there is an offense you can put him in that works. And I'm not sure why any team would waste so much time and effort trying. This isn't Cam Newton. Where you try and build around the strengths and weaknesses of a unique player. This is a guy who only has weaknesses. That's not someone that should be on the team, much less have everything architected around them. It's unfortunate but all we can do is try again with someone else.

I agree with you, but most coaches aren't gonna do that kind of thing. If they're good enough to win at the current level, then don't fix what ain't broke.

Yea the blueprint to beat Bryce isn't exactly a secret. The Falcons apparently figured it out for week 1 last year. -
Everyone should have seen the disaster around Bryce coming

They're used to playing games on the road because they have 17 of them every year. -

It's a long season. There's still a chance Canales shows some potential. -
I think that's pretty accurate. Wilks can't cut it at the highest levels. It requires out adjusting your opponents. You can't just line up and beat the other team. It's why the 49ers fired him as DC.
-
Wilks does not have it on the X's and O's side or making adjustments in game. He could not play the chess match at all. It was old school, pound the rock football with vanilla defense. He lived and mostly died by that.
-
The team played with more spunk for Wilks than they ever did for Reich. That's all I'm saying.
-
Wilks got the team playing at a respectable level instantly, given the talent on the roster. I don't think he's the right coach to take the team to the playoffs and beyond. But he was good enough to get the team out of the gutter, and provided a damning contrast to Rhule and Reich.
