Former RB Mike Davis on Rhule and CMC
frankw replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
To be clear I am legitimately hoping the Tepper's have actually learned something through the worst win percentage in professional sports. Anywho. Icege pooing posts over valid David Tepper criticism is peak white knighting. Never seen anyone here so delusional and that includes PFFL. -

I don't think it should be contingent on turning Bryce isn't a franchise QB. I'm skeptical of some things with Canales as well but he's a coach not a miracle worker. He can't change Bryce's physical make up. Furthermore if you fire him before giving him an opportunity to identify and acquire his own QB you are not going to get quality coaching candidates the next cycle. -

Guys let's not go off the deep end over Renfrow. Canales success or failure will come down to whether or not he develops these young players. -

We got Hendon Hooker? I'll take it. -

The issue is they were hired in the first place. And Mr. Tepper didn't just hire front office executives to handle everything. He personally hopped on a plane with his right hand man Marty Hurney and flew out to Matt Rhule's house and let Rhule woo him with meatballs and life stories. Tepper was also fully involved in the hiring of Reich and did so bypassing another candidate in Wilks. Tepper also made it abundantly clear that he was pining for Bryce Young months before the draft. To believe he was not steering the trajectory of the team in some significant capacity throughout this would be akin to believing in Santa Claus. -

The man held a press conference where he did virtually all the talking after firing his third head coach in three years while relegating his front office personnel to glorified lackeys. Do you work for the Tepper's? -

I like the WR pickup. 6'4 205 caught 8 passes for 147 yards in preseason. -
It's crazy what can transpire in only a months time

In any profession in life you gain experience by doing. We need to know what we have in these receivers in order to move forward accordingly next offseason.
-
We won 2 games and had the worst passing offense in the league and probably in decades with Thielen leading the team in receptions two years ago. Some people are acting like we traded a hall of fame WR.
-
See that's why so many convos here get into the weeds and contentious. Folks are more than eager to groan about a lack of offensive young talent then when we do have good young talent (two first round WR's and a young Jalen Coker) they say that talent isn't good enough. You expect top tier play from the moving parts within the offense at all times but you'll accept literally anything from the signal caller and call it progress. Doesn't make sense.

Official Panthers Roster Cuts (Updated)

I'm intrigued by a corner named AJ Green. -
I do wonder what changed and when though. Thielen went from being a big Bryce believer to lowkey talking up JJ McCarthy and calling him the future face of the league before training camp. Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement.

It's wild this man has generational wealth for being a complete fraud. -
I mean not for nothing but this is literally what we drafted him for. He was already supposed to be ahead of the curve in this area. Guy was regularly billed as a smaller Peyton Manning in terms of his football IQ before the draft.
-
Pick swap and a 4th round pick. I mean that's best case scenario. Now we can move on. I'm eager to see Canales develop this young WR core.
-
So did the Panthers initiate this by making him "available for the right price" or was this something Thielen himself pushed for? I also never saw this quote he made about JJ McCarthy back in June. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/panthers-adam-thielen-both-asked-182711572.html Thielen believes McCarthy is built for big moments and will eventually show the world the skillset that won the Michigan Wolverines a national championship in 2023/2024. He even said McCarthy could be the “face of the league.” “I have high expectations for him. I've been able to be around a little bit through some of the time last summer... back in Minnesota, and I think he has the ability to be one of the great quarterbacks this season and the face of this league at some point. You know, I think he's got every tool and intangible that you can have,” Thielen said. “Obviously, it's a difficult league and it's not gonna just be easy, but I think he has the ability to handle adversity to be able to be big in big moments, as you saw when he was in college. I think he's got a great support staff around him, whether it be the coaches or the trainers.” Sounds like he's had one foot out the door for some time now.

Everything revolves around Bryce This Year
frankw replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
We'll know something fairly quickly. Once again opening the season with back to back road games. On the one hand it sucks. But on the other hand I'd rather it be this way. -
At the end of the day success of each is dependent on the other. And also at the end of the day as the third year QB the first overall pick and the face of the franchise the onus is on our QB to guide the young WR's. They have to elevate each other.
-
I call it like I see it. When a player plays poorly or makes a stupid mistake I acknowledge it. Did so when XL got himself ejected in preseason. But there's definitely a lack of consistency when people relentlessly attack a WR who has yet to play a single game in his second season yet make every excuse for the starting QB.

At this point we're all waiting to see what "Evero likes" bring actual positive results. -

True but he will assuredly be on a roster at some point later in the season. Somebody will always underwhelm or get hurt and open another door. The carousel never ends. -
Makes no sense. Bryce Young as a rookie at times looked like a fish out of water as an NFL QB. XL despite his issues with the drops was getting open and blowing past defensive backs. Definitely noticing a tendency from certain people who harp on XL more than others.
