  1. Nice of you to say. I just post stuff that I think might stir up conversation....things I find interesting.
  2. Right now, with the tag, Moton is the 4th highest paid RT. Any long term contract is probably north of there. Are you saying we shouldn't re-sign him?
  3. Cam: "I'm giving you insider trading. So don't report me."
  4. Most likely some mixture. I think we had so many close games with good teams, we might be on the cusp and we're hoping that Darnold is a ticket to the next tier. I'm more excited for the change than anything else. I like the glimpses we've seen of what the head coach, new oc, new dc, new GM, Derick Brown and Jeremy Chinn can do. On paper we have an upgraded secondary, d-line, and LBs. On offense a healthy CMC is an upgrade and Tremble/Arnold combo will probably be better than Thomas. Oline and QB are huge question marks. Darnold should be better than Bridgewater. We've at least added depth to the Oline. If QB and oline get in sync and Darnold plays like a #3 pick, we are going to be a good team. Amen.
  5. I think during this time of year, we can be a little freer with the main posts. We've had posts on other teams lineman, superbowl 50, bold and meek predictions. There isn't a ton of news so when a newscaster gives us some love, I thought it might generate some discussion. I really didn't see it posted on this thread.
  6. I think Tremble, Brown and Marshal should earn starting spots. I also think BC and UDFA David Moore have legit shot at earning a starting spot on the line if they don't get it due to injuries. I know 3 rookies on the line is a lot, but we are that weak there. Fletcher will earn the LS spot as well.
  7. It means we're waiting to long to close this deal.
  8. I agree. One of the best tight-ends in the business and he was a reliable 3rd down choice for Cam in 2015. Injuries led to us letting him go. All he said was that he had mixed feelings and that he hoped the best for Marshall. Thank you Thor, good luck in the booth.
  9. Good post. When I think of sophomore slump, I normally think of play that declines a bit because they were so good out of the gate. Chinn and Brown fit that. Pride, Roy and ST Oliver I thought were just ok, so if they slump from there well... Chinn's situation is changing, so its going to be hard to gauge if it is sophomore slump or just the nature of the new position. Yes, Chinns tackling numbers should drop. I guess we'll have to judge by expected increases in pass breakups and ints. Derrick Brown, however, is truly a prime candidate to see a genuine sophomore slump. He had a good year and everyone is expecting him to do better this year with all the new help on the line. I don't expect it, but he is a prime candidate based on last year performance and current expectations.
  10. link:5 Carolina Panthers rookies who could steal starting jobs in 2021 (catcrave.com) Deonte Brown – Carolina Panthers OG Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR Daviyon Nixon – Carolina Panthers DT Keith Taylor Jr. – Carolina Panthers CB Tommy Tremble – Carolina Panthers TE
  11. Projecting forward probably. Looking at what we had last year, was it Robbie?
  12. Yes, its bleacher report they are lazy. True, the majority on the list are those still on their original contracts, but not all...there were a few vets in there. I guess you want two lists, one for vets and one for those still on their 4yr, because they are going to be cheaper.
  13. What they're saying: Post-minicamp edition (panthers.com) Apparently Panthers.com really liked the tweet, they did a whole writeup on t.
  14. I understand your point, but I'm not sure how to handle it. Chinn had the most tackles on the team. He was also on a very cheap rookie contract. Do we disregard him because he is a rookie?
  15. link:The NFL’s 11 best offensive tackles (usatoday.com) A second-round pick out of Western Michigan in the 2017 draft, Moton really came on in his second NFL season, allowing two sacks, one quarterback hit, and 25 quarterback hurries in 2018. Last season was his best, though, both in metrics and on film. While he did allow three sacks, he gave up no quarterback hits and 16 quarterback hurries in 657 pass-blocking reps. And if you wonder about his power as a run-blocker… well, ask Falcons defensive lineman John Cominsky about that as Moton pushed Cominsky out of the play and out of the screen last season.
  16. Link:Panthers’ Youth Focus Should Pay Dividends (theriotreport.com) In the 2021 NFL Draft Jaycee Horn, Terrace Marshall Jr, Tommy Tremble and Chubba Hubbard are all 21 or younger, with both Marshall and Tremble having turned 21 since the draft. This follows a 2020 draft where only Bravvion Roy was older than 22 to start his rookie season. ...The headline answer is that age has a negative correlation with AdjAV (so younger players are better) and the model has an R^2 of 0.31. So, while the evidence isn’t slam dunk conclusive, it does suggest that the NFL should value age more when determining where to pick players. " a continued focus on drafting especially young prospects is unlikely to be some magic bullet that overcomes all other issues but...it has a chance to allow them to create the kind of small competitive edge that Matt Rhule has talked so much about. "
  17. There isn't a ton out there on him. He's called Big Snacc. Played in 31 career games with 11 starting assignments, all coming in the 2020 season Totaled 53 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 4.0 sacks, seven QBH, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery Had a season-high 30 tackles, 4.0 TFL and five QBH as a senior Totaled a career-high six tackles vs. Vanderbilt (11/14/20) Named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his play vs. South Carolina (12/5) On the first possession of the South Carolina game, on third-and-5, his two-yard TFL forced a field goal that was missed by the Gamecocks ... His quarterback hurry came in a series that ended in a punt Got his first career interception when he batted a pass, then caught it vs. Georgia (10/31/20)
  18. I think it is easier to hit on a rookie on a rebuild team because they get to see the field and show what they can do. If we weren't rebuilding, some of these guys would have to displace an established vet and would never see the field. I don't think Chinn would have had as many tackles of Luke didn't retire. I really do think Fletcher and Nixon and UDFA Moore have legitimate chances to contribute. Shi and Taylor have tougher roads cause the WR and CB rooms are getting crowded.
