Yep. There was a very clear shift when we got to 3-0 and Fitts and Rhule started strutting around talking about the playoffs as if we were already in them. Now we've traded away a good chunk of next year's draft and ate up a good chunk of once very good cap situation starting next year. Right now we seem to be at rock bottom but as the panic sets in at Panthers headquarters, keep an eye out for signs of continued digging.

Matt Rhule's success in college includes getting beat by every ranked team he ever faced, save for the two times he ran into ECU and Navy teams that just luckily happened to be ranked that week and then turned the ball over like crazy in those games. Rhule's college "success" is massively overrated. He took bad programs and built them to the point they could beat other bad teams. He never proved he could get a team over that hump of actually being able to beat good teams.

We need to take heed of this lesson. Move on from Rhule to take the next step forward.

Points allowed per drive has nothing to do with the offense. We're worst in the NFL by a significant margin.

The defense he built has gotten wrecked by two mediocre at best offenses the last two games and is now middle of the pack in points allowed.

Remember when I got poo'd to death for saying that I doubt Rhule ends up working out after he traded significant assets for Sam Darnold a year after throwing significant money at Teddy Bridgewater? I remember.

UNC was a top 10 preseason team. Without Sam Howell, we'd have two maybe three wins.

His only ranked wins were vs. ECU and Navy. ECU turned it over 5 times and out-gained Temple roughly 4:1.. Navy turned it over 3 times. Temple was +8 in turnover margin in those two wins. Both Temple and Navy both dropped out of the rankings after those losses and ended those seasons roughly .500ish.

We need to get Christensen and Brown on the field to determine if they can be potential answers in the future because right now it looks like we need four starting OL.

He was with the Steelers for years. This is just where we are as an organization. No one is really knocked for their work with us because who could possibly succeed in this dumpster fire? That's the sad reality. They'll be looking at what he did in a real NFL organization, not here. Beane sat here while Hurney made idiotic move after idiotic move but the rest of the NFL knew he was a future GM.

What's even worse than sucking is watching other organizations pilfer us for the actual talent in the building. It's happened to us for years.

We gotta fire Rhule before he sends us further down the road to hell. What a collosal mistake it was to hire him and give him full control.

Are they good enough to justify almost entirely focusing on defense for two offseasons? Spending an entire draft class (plus the next year's top 10 pick) on defense? Utterly ignoring investing in the OL? I would argue hell no they aren't. Which is my entire point here.

This is pretty funny to watch though. ND has always been borderline delusional about their standing in the world. They had never had a football coach leave voluntarily to take another job and now their all-time winningest coach bounces.

It really is. With the insane contracts being given out left and right in college, the NFL is about to turn into a farm league for P5 college coaches.
