  1. Honestly, my favorite QB evaluation situations are non-powerhouse P5 schools. You get to see guys go up against top competition without having the overwhelming talent advantage that guys at places like Clemson, Alabama, OSU, OU, etc. enjoy.
  2. Beyond Surratt though, what did he have to work with? They also had the 95th ranked defense. He had to feel the pressure to put up basketball scores to have any shot.
  3. Teddy will only hit us for $15M as a post-June 1st cut. Stafford would hit us for $20M. We save $8M releasing Teddy. We'll save another $14.5M making Short a post-June 1st cut. We'll save $6M releasing Weatherly. We can free up another $5M if need be by releasing Paradis. $4M releasing Burris. $2M is we're done with Ian Thomas. There's plenty of fat to trim.
  4. If we don't trade for a legit QB and the right QB isn't there at #8, then let's draft a LT and take Newman in the 2nd. I'm so numb to watching the Panthers throw away 2nd rounders at this point that it wouldn't even hurt if he's a bust then we can go get Sam Howell next year.
  5. Great player and seems like a great guy. But, damn... that injury history. Very difficult to see him holding up at the NFL level.
  6. It's not about cap space, it's about trade bait. We are holding #8 overall. Indy has #21. There's a huge gap in that value. Detroit honestly might take #8 overall over #21 and next year's 1st from Indy. In terms of value in the draft chart they'd be roughly equal.
  7. Yeah, you don't acquire a 33 year old QB on a two year contract to look toward the future. It's why I'm not hugely excited about it. Stafford would be a huge upgrade, but parting with #8 and more would sting.
  8. Lavar Ball running his mouth and trying to stir the pot? Who could've ever predicted this? This is so out of character.
  9. Because everyone knows we desperately need a QB and they expect Lawrence, Fields, and Wilson to be gone.
  10. Man... it would STING watching Wilson go to ATL at #4. The Bengals would do backflips if Sewell fell in their lap at #5. Even with that amazing season he had, I'd still be surprised if Smith leapfrogged Chase.
  11. He's a guy who I think pundits will underrate vs. NFL teams simply because he doesn't make a lot of highlight reel plays. But he does all the little things and he's very reliable. He's a rare guy these days in that he's coming into the league as a true TE and not a jumbo slot WR who is going to have to learn how to play TE.
  12. I think he goes in the 3rd. It wouldn't shock me if he found his way into the late 2nd.
  13. Hunter Long is a player. He won't wow athletically, but he's not a bad athlete. He just does everything well.
  14. He's probably trying to put on weight. He'll be tanked up with water to the point of nearly puking when he steps on the scale. For what it's worth, CMC likely was too.
  15. I'd like to have Stafford. But not if it means giving up #8 plus more. He has a lot of wear and tear on him after 12 seasons of starting in the NFL. Maybe he has another 4-5+ years of high level play left. Or maybe he's already on the decline. I don't want to part with #8 for a guy who will be 33 in a couple of weeks. I definitely don't want to part with #8 and more. Two #2s would probably be my ceiling.
  16. It hasn't been great in the past but I'm not sure that fight was a great example of it. That lead keg got kicked to hell. That'll make anyone look like they're out of gas.
  17. If it's not a QB, Sewell might be the only player I'd take rather than trying to trade down. If we don't land a QB via trade and a QB we value isn't there at #8, then we gotta trade down and accumulate more draft assets IMO. Try to land another 1st next year because we're going to have to try to make a move on Howell or Rattler. The rebuild will have officially been delayed another year.
  18. I hope that Rhule learned this year that there are physical prerequisites to playing the position in the NFL. Being smart, being accurate, working hard off the field... it only goes so far. At the end of the day if you can't make the throws that's a wrap. You can't try to build a team around the guy.
  19. Yeah, it's not that I don't think that Stafford wouldn't be a huge upgrade for us. He would. It's just that I think another team that is in a more "win now" mentality will (and should) value him more than we will.
  20. If we make a move for Stafford or Watson, Teddy's gotta go. We can designate him as a post-June 1st cut and save $8M against the cap. We don't need to spend $8M on a backup QB if we acquire a legit starter.
  21. Chiefs - Travis Kelce, TE I wish there was another OL or a CB I'd take instead, but Kelce is a rare game changer at TE
  22. Bucs - Donovan Smith, LT (I don't think he's their best non-QB but he's a massive upgrade at a hugely valuable position)
  23. Yep. Remmers is a solid player who had a glaring weakness against speed rushers. Vic Beasley exposed it in the second to last game in the regular season. Why Rivera and Shula thought he'd fare any better against Von Miller is nothing short of baffling.
  24. It's a damn good thing they have Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy instead of Ron Rivera and Mike Shula. The OL is gonna be a liability but they know it and they'll try to game plan around it instead of changing literally nothing and hoping for the best.
