This is one of those situations where I really wish the draft happened prior to FA. How bad would it suck to sign Carr to a massive deal and have Stroud slide into our lap a la Justin Fields?

The part that make me nervous is the "5 year window" talk. I like Derek Carr. I really do. I wouldn't mind signing him. But I don't want to sign Derek Carr to massive 5 year contract with huge guarantees.

That type of 20 pounds ain't gonna help him.

The ONLY way a mid-level vet QB makes any sense is if we're drafting one high. Want to splash cold water on the renewed fan optimism from the hiring of this coaching staff? Go into next year with another Teddy/Darnold/Mayfield caliber vet QB penciled in at starter.

I honestly think a lot of the Pearl Jam hate is bullshit. Pearl Jam was pretty awesome. It's not their fault that spawned some truly terrible attempted copycats. My first major concert was Pearl Jam. Greensboro Coliseum summer of 1999. It was incredible. They kept coming back for encore after encore ending with Vedder coming back by himself with a ukulele with all the house lights on and the cleaning crew starting to come through. He stopped playing mid-show fairly early on to point out this guy who had been holding his hand up literally the entire show and he'd just realized the guy was holding a tape recorder. He had had security go get the recorder and he sat it right beside the his monitor and poured the guy a cup of his wine. That bootleg is available online and the quality is outstanding for the era. Shortly after this happened, we were smoking a joint and I get a firm tap on my shoulder. I'm just thinking... fuuuuuuuuuuck, best case scenario we're getting tossed outta here, worst case scenario we're going to jail. I hold my breath and slowly turn to see an older lady (well she was "older" to 17 year old me, in reality she was probably early 30s at most and several years younger than current me) sheepishly asking if she could have a puff because she hadn't had any for years. Well, of course! LOL!

Dafuq is it with aging great Packers QBs and this "will he or won't be" bullshit? I would've thought that having to go through that bullshit as a young 1st round draft pick waiting in the wings would've ensured that Rodgers wouldn't do that, especially when you have Jordan Love sitting there in the exact same awkward spot he found himself in early on in his career.

Sure looks like it. He looks like a slot WR/nickelback walking beside a TE. Anyone downplaying the concerns about his size is kidding themselves. Will it ultimately matter? Only time will tell, but you can GUARANTEE every team is talking a lot about his size (or lack there of to be more accurate) in their evaluations and there's likely considerable heated debate around the league on it.

Win/win deal. The Niners had a roster ready to compete with a deficiency at QB. CMC is the type of player that can help you make up for that deficiency. CMC paired with Deebo Samuel gives them two very versatile, very dangerous weapons who don't necessarily need an elite QB to thrive. Meanwhile, we were a dumpster fire looking to rebuild and we needed draft capital and cap relief to do it. A big money RB was not an asset for us.

I'm honestly not opposed to the sign Darnold as a bridge/backup and draft Anthony Richardson plan. Hell, I think I typed out a relatively lengthy post a couple weeks ago advocating that plan.

I just hope there were no meatballs involved or any gut feeling driven shift to full on recruiting mode.

I doubt Tepper was involved in the meeting if we're not very seriously considering Carr. That doesn't seem like a "tire kicking" type of meeting.

Two 2nds and a 3rd for #1 overall? The owner would veto that and fire their GM on the spot.

Dave Grohl really is a good dude. Never been a Foo Fighters fan but loved Nirvana. Anyway, my sister in law's college roommates' husband (whew, that's a mouthful) is good friends with Grohl. He's an HVAC guy and Grohl was having lots of issues with his HVAC system and they just got to know each other from all the house calls he was having to make. This guy isn't the owner of an HVAC company, he's just your standard blue collar HVAC tech. Grohl has had him and his family over for BBQs, flown them out to shows, all kinds of stuff. Definitely just an all around good dude.

I don't think our roster is any worse than the Jets'.
