  1. That would be bad for us even if we don't expect him to be there at #9.
  2. What I've said is that you can't count on him for anything. You basically have to go about assembling your roster as if he isn't here. If he develops I to something, awesome! If he doesn't, oh well you've already planned accordingly anyway.
  3. Yeah, that's the problem. He's significantly older and more experienced than most college players yet he's still considered and extremely raw prospect. He shouldn't be an extremely raw prospect at this point. He's only two years younger than Josh Allen. He'll be 24 when he plays his first NFL game. At that same age, Josh Allen was entering his third NFL season. It's as big red flag IMO that Levis is still so raw.
  4. Just saying. I don't expect and I don't want it but it's a possibility until it isn't.
  5. Screams loud and clear that we either know we're sticking with Wilks or that we know that we're going offense.
  6. I think it's just what happens when a place and a cultural vibe becomes too trendy and there's a certain expectation of the vibe. Instead of just living their lives and being part of an overall culture everyone starts acting like they're actors performing in a play almost. It loses what made it something with great appeal. Yeah, it basically becomes a caricature of itself. It jumps the shark. Asheville has jumped the shark. Boulder jumped the shark 20 years ago. Austin has jumped the shark. The people who made those places what they were have by and large bailed (or cashed in on the financial opportunity) and been replaced by actors performing a play.
  7. I know several folks who have left Asheville in recent years because it just got too Asheville-y. Asheville used to be a cool town but it honestly kinda feels like it's basically turned into a caricature of itself. It doesn't feel natural and organic anymore, it all feels forced. That same feeling is a big part of why I bailed on Colorado after 14 years. My concern is that WNC feels like it's going the same direction.
  8. With QBs it's a lot more about the mental maturation than the physical maturity. Yeah, there's a BIG deference between a 23 year old mind and a 20 year old mind. Levis is just a couple of months younger than Justin Fields who just finished his second NFL season. He's only a year younger than Brian Burns who just finished up his 4th NFL season.
  9. A lot of the folks that used to want to be in Asheville are starting to branch out too. Asheville is ludicrously priced for WNC. Brevard, Black Mountain, Old Fort, all the way over to Morganton. They've all boomed in recent years and most of it is people starting to look beyond Asheville. Many due to price. Many due to wanting something smaller and quainter than Asheville. Many due to both. Around here we seem to be getting a lot of Long Islanders.
  10. But honestly, I think this reporter guy is full of poo and just talking out of his ass on the off chance that we don't draft a QB. We don't have a coaching staff yet. The folks with a lot of input on this aren't in place yet. True organizational level scouting on draft prospects is really just getting going. If you're saddling a new coach with Corral and/or Darnold, then yeah... welcome back, Wilks. Because dudes with other options are gonna peace out on that noise.
  11. If Fitts thinks Corral is the answer just go ahead and fire him now and get it over with.
  12. So basically, same as it ever was? This is the game we've been playing since we cut Cam. How's that working out?
  13. I have to have mountains in my life. Just no way around that.
  14. I voted Steichen but I honestly don't have a super strong opinion on this. He or Johnson would be my top two but I just want a great coach. Whoever it is I'm just gonna hope they're great. Same with QB. I really don't want Will Levis but if we draft him then I'm just gonna hope I'm wrong and that he's a future HOFer.
  15. Like Sam Howell his first two seasons at UNC. Coaches specifically told him NOT to run because they didn't have a backup QB on the roster they trusted to put in the game. His third year, they had Maye and lost all their weapons so he basically had to start playing like The Golden Calf of Bristol in order to move the ball.
  16. I think a lot of folks haven't watched much of UF games. If you had you'd notice all the balls bouncing off receivers' hands.
  17. How many QBs have made the type of accuracy improvements Allen has though? It's easy to say in hindsight that all he needed were massive mechanical overhauls but those almost never pan out. You need both. You need good evaluation and good coaching.
  18. Beware drafting men who play amongst boys. Levis is as old as most second year NFL players.
  19. Sure he can. If the new regime's gameplan is to "pray for Maye".
  20. Don't feel bad, we all are. So are NFL talent evaluators. There are busts and steals every year and every draft class would look a LOT different of you could redraft them a few years later.
