I really don't care what our division rivals do. I already can't stand Russell Wilson so as far as I'm concerned he'd fit in perfectly in N.O.

Anybody remember when Colin Jones "asked" for his release?
LinvilleGorge replied to JABANOG's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't celebrate the guy failing to find work, but I do hope the days of "core special teamers" are over in Carolina. If you're a liability on the field on your side of the ball be it offense or defense, you need to be replaced. It's not hard to find special teams gunners. I would make an exception for a truly elite return man, but I would bet on Joe Brady finding a way to utilize him on offense. -
If those players help keep our QB upright, fine.

I'd bet good money on us targeting at least one vet OL and DB. I'd prefer to target slot WR in the draft though. There are a lot of good looking mid-round prospects there. There's also an outside chance that Samuel won't have the market he expects. He may opt to sign a short term deal to hit the market again next year. If that's the case, IMO we'd be his best bet. Brady has shown to be adept at using him.

I'm still kinda dumbfounded that Oregon staff is THAT dumb. They treated him like he was the dumbest guy on the planet so I kinda had to assume he was. So many single reads, half field reads, and in crunch time they acted like the forward pass was no longer allowed. Morons.

I absolutely agree with this. A lot of people gave me hell about my opinion on Herbert but it was 100% based on what he was able to show in that Oregon offense. If he can't do anymore than what he's showing in this offense, he can't play QB in the NFL and surely a staff wouldn't be so dumb as to handcuff a top 10 talent... right? Wrong! And it's probably why Shough is transferring. Physically, he's very similar to Lawrence IMO. Lawrence is probably the more naturally gifted runner, but Herbert's arm talentis probably a bit better IMO.

Jets willing to discuss trading Darnold
LinvilleGorge replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, I guess they wrapped up their QB draft evaluations. Go ahead and pencil in Zach Wilson to the Jets at #2. -
Chris Simms Just Released his 2021 QB Rankings
LinvilleGorge replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
If I'm gonna take a shot at an inconsistent QB, I'd take a shot at a far more talented prospect who has played at a much higher level in Fields. -

If there's a similarity to the mortgage crisis going on, it's the moratorium on foreclosures. When all these moratoriums expire we will definitely see a flood of foreclosures hit the market because it'll be a year's backlog to work through but we'll have to see how that impacts the market. Given the short supply the market seems well positioned to absorb it. If you're sitting on a house that needs significant updating, I'd be selling that thing right now though. I'm seeing a lot of those types of houses selling for premium prices right now. Once the foreclosure market comes back those types of properties will see a significant hit.

Where's the "Half-ass it for Howell" option?
-
LOL! What?
-
Yep. I have no hate toward Jones as a college QB. Dude lit it up. Trask neither for that matter. But I don't want any part of either as the Panthers' next starting QB.

Texans remain slight betting favorites for Watson

If I was in Vegas I'd throw $20 on the Jets and Dolphins both. -

He's probably grading without a position curve. But there is a position curve. -
Hmmmm... that would actually make a lot of sense for us.

No one else? We signed Bruce Irvin. We had Marquis Haynes who fits a 3-4 OLB role better than a 4-3 DE role, same for Christian Miller who was drafted the same year as Burns. The issue with that D was that we sold out TOO hard on rushing the passer. We couldn't rush the passer at all in '18 so we doubled down on speed on the edges with seemingly no thoughts on stopping the run and it showed on the field. It looked like what it was - a 4-3 scheme playing 3-4 OLBs at DE.
-
In talk, yes. On the field? Nah.
-
Was he? Ron did a lot of talking about running a 3-4 but he never actually did.
-
Yeah, that was a lot of bad mortgages on five year arms. Everyone knew those loans would go bad but they got packaged into bonds and sold so many times no one could even keep track of who was going to get stuck holding the bag. That crisis was completely predictable. Hell, I remember sitting in Econ 101 in the fall of '00 and having the professor break it down almost to the letter. The only thing he was off on was timing. He thought it was gonna hit in '04/'05 but it held on a few more years and the bubble only got bigger.

Why would we sign a 3-4 OLB?

A new fire to the Watson drama (per Jason la Canfora)
LinvilleGorge replied to saX man's topic in Carolina Panthers
There's just no way all the egos involved would swallow their pride. Peppers returned many years later. Cam and the Panthers will eventually make nice, but it won't be just one year later. -

The Cam bridge has been burned. Smoke is gone. Coals have gone cold. Just stop. -
