What top 10 prospect do you absolutely NOT want?
LinvilleGorge replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the majority did. I don't know how the Jags deluded themselves. Might've been a bit of "hometown kid" bias at play with him being a Florida kid (albeit Miami area) but having gotten his collegiate start at Jacksonville State . -

Yeah, it really seems like they made that move legitimately expecting him to be a two way player which is just crazy. You just can't be a two way player in the modern NFL. The obvious approach with Hunter was to have him focus on being a CB first and basically motivate him by telling him that the better you play on defense and the more comfortable you are on the field there, the more comfortable we're going to be putting more on your plate by carving out a bigger piece for you on offense but likely always limiting that to maybe 10-12 snaps a game at most on offense. Starting him out primarily at WR was just insane. At least they quickly saw that and adjusted but they really blew it with the off-season/preseason approach and it's causing Hunter to play catch up. -
Yeah, Moehrig in likely passing situations as a LB/DB hybrid role seems like a better approach then Rozeboom/Wallace.

This. The Micah Parsons situation is an anomaly and it takes a moron with a gigantic ego like Jerry Jones to pull it off. The vast majority of these superstar/organization showdowns end up with a massive extension getting inked after a bunch of talking and posturing during the negotiation process with everyone trying to get the best deal from their perspective that they can and then everyone making up in the end - basically the Lamar contract situation. That's the normal process of how those situations play out and why everyone just assumed the Parsons situation would follow the same path but then Jerruh gonna Jerruh. LOL

It looks like the Jags are finally coming around to this reality. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/news/travis-hunter-snap-count-stats-alarming-jaguars-fans/e8b5752c40513c1688536a65 After primarily playing on offense against us week one, he's playing more and more defense and less and less offense ever since. The problem is that the Jags spent all off-season and preseason prepping him as a two way player that he wasn't ready to do either going into the season. They really fuged this up. I think he'll catch on over the course of the season but they are probably gonna throw away the first half of this rookie season trying to put too much on a rookie. -
Yeah, The Ravens' offense was stalling out while the Lions' offense was humming. The Henry fumble sealed their fate but I didn't like their chances regardless. But either way, Derrick Henry 4th quarter fumbles have cost them one game and cost them and an opportunity in another. That Bills game was over until his fumble gave them new life and his fumble last night made their chances go from "not good but maybe" to "we need a miracle".

Forget the money we paid Moehrig that I warned was a mistake, this might be our best pair of safeties.

To be clear, I don't disagree. It's just exasperated when it's Renfrow due to his lack of height, reach, and leaping ability. Bryce usually misses high deep and that's an issue when you're Renfrow. Less of an issue if you're T-Mac.

Why go for 2 here?

People were ready to write the Lions off when they lost to GB in week one but the Packers' D really is just that good. People are now dunking on the Packers for losing to the Browns but the D held them to barely over 200 yards and 13 points, their offense just no-showed.
-
Henry has to be beside himself. Crucial late 4th round fumbles in both their losses. Hell, they had that Buffalo game won until his fumble gave them life.
-
It comes down to pressuring him. If you can force him off his spot he struggles. If you let him get set and deliver he can carve you up.
-
Wow. They go for it and get it. That was a damn DIME from Goff.
-
Decision time coming up. Do you go for it on 4th and 2ish from midfield or do you punt and play D? The way my D is playing, I'm gonna come out here and try to get them to jump and then punt unless they give me a defensive look that I really like.
-
Wow. Another crucial late game fumble by Henry. This is becoming a huge problem for him and then this season.
-
Especially when you end up punting anyway. If you convert it's probably worth it but burning a timeout just to punt really sucks.

Goff not the best thrower on the run. LOL He could've ran for that he just didn't wanna take the hit

Really good tackle there. The Lions have done a really good job of limiting Lamar's scrambling opportunities tonight. He's burned them with some throws outside the pocket but he hasn't been able to hurt them much running for yards
-
I feel like a mobile version of Goff is what the Panthers thought they were getting in Bryce. Goff isn't the most physically gifted guy in the league by a long shot but he's really decisive and he's really accurate.
-
Oof. That was less good. LOL
-
Nevermind, this is dumb. We should've locked this one too.
-
We need to stop sending Renfrow deep. He's getting open but Bryce can't hit him. Have him run those Thielen routes from the past couple years. Bryce is a lot more accurate making those short to intermediate throws and Renfrow just doesn't have the catch radius to reel in Bryce's spotty deep throws.
-
Yeah, Bryce seems to really struggle to put the ball on Renfrow down the field.
-
If he mercilessly taunted a guy for going to duke I might have a new favorite football coach.
