  1. It was time to stick with Dalton after Bryce struggled early on and Dalton looked a lot better in Seattle. Milk the ankle excuse. Ride Dalton until the bye and see where we are. He probably tails off considerably and you use the bye to get Bryce fully ready after some weeks of learning from the bench without the pressures of playing. If we somehow manage a respectable record and Dalton is playing well keep riding the Red Rifle until the wheels fall off. But once you went back to Bryce now I think you're committed to it. If you sit him at this point without an injury excuse the entire football media is gonna be screaming BUST and it's going to put even more pressure on the kid.
  2. Yeah, two blowouts going into the bye and I would fully expect some changes over the bye week. At least that's one week the Panthers won't take an L... unless we get bilked in another trade.
  3. NIL money is definitely going to hugely change these decisions. When you can get paid millions in college there isn't this desperate need to go pro as early as possible.
  4. Lance has all the physical tools you want. But yeah, he's a complete bust. That's why all they could get for him was a 4th. That's way less than the Jets could even get for Darnold. It is what it is, man. Most highly drafted busts have elite physical talent, that's why they were highly drafted to begin with. You are deluding yourself if you think the Niners didn't do their damnedest to develop this guy after making that trade. He just wasn't it.
  5. Yeah, the Niners are better everywhere from the owners suite to the front office to the coaching staff to the roster, hell probably down to the equipment manager and water boy.
  6. Think back to Cam's rookie year. How many games would we have won with a D that was simply not atrocious. That guy went out there and gave us a fighting chance. Bruce just can't do that or at least hasn't shown that he can do far. Bryce needs the team to give him a fighting chance. That's the difference between a dude and a JAG.
  7. I'm perfectly happy to be wrong. Hell, I HOPE that I'm wrong. But I'm not going to delude myself and twist and turn to try to paint a rosy picture. The picture is what it is.
  8. Which is a HUGE problem when you make a massive trade up to take a guy #1 overall. You're making that move for an elite talent who can elevate the guys around him. Bryce looks like his ceiling is probably a JAG. He's going to be as good or as bad as the situation around him.
  9. I'd describe it as he hasn't been good, much less perfect.
  10. Trey Lance is a complete bust. All trading a 4th for him would've accomplished is pissing away a 4th.
  11. Watch the game last night and honestly try to argue that all Purdy did was throw to wide open targets. Yeah, their scheme is way better than ours. Yeah, their weapons are way better than ours. But Purdy made at least 10 high level throws with elite anticipation and ball placement. The type of throws that Bryce has been just a hair late on or the ball has been just off enough on to allow the defender to make a play. Not bad throws, just not quite good enough.
  12. You're not watching and that's causing you to completely embarrass yourself.
  13. Oh god. We now have people clinging to 5-10 yard passes to "prove" that Bryce can throw outside. Let me see him throw one deep out. It's gonna be a pick six, but let's see it.
  14. Tepper needs to fire himself from involvement in football related decisions first. It's pretty obvious he's clueless about football and as long as he demands to interject himself into these matters this is going to continue to be a clown show of epic proportions. The deeper we get into the Tepper era the worse it gets.
  15. He's similar to Bryce IMO in that he needs to be in the perfect system with top tier surrounding talent. What he's shown that Bryce hasn't so far is elite anticipation and ball placement. But put him in this system with this surrounding talent and he probably looks about like Bryce. Put Bryce in SF and he probably looks about like Purdy. What chaps my ass is that when you're looking at a prospect who has to be brilliant between the ears to make up for what he lacks physically, that's a late round draft pick because everything is going to have to fit together perfectly to make this work.
  16. Because they're winning. Every team makes some dumb moves. Even colossally dumb moves. It doesn't matter if you win. The old saying "winning fixes everything" is 100% true because at the end of the day that's all that matters. No one beats you up for the mistakes you're bound to make on the way if you're winning because the point of all these moves is to produce a winner.
  17. Higgins a 1st and a 3rd for Burns and TMJ? Bro, the Panthers brass works for the Panthers. We're the only team in the league dumb enough to do that deal.
  18. I think you're giving them far too much credit. I just think they're wildly incompetent.
  19. Celebrity fascination is just utterly bizarre to me if I'm being honest. But you do you
  20. I've always thought that he's basically an average starter. Not bad but far from great. He's an asset on a rookie contract but becomes a liability when he's eating up a huge chunk of your cap.
  21. Yeah, I look at teams like the Broncos and Giants and think they're definitely gonna be worse than the Bears.
  22. Similar arm strength but the big difference is that Purdy has absolutely elite anticipation and ball placement where so far Bryce has looked pretty average in those categories too. I didn't expect that. I really expected Bryce to be the type of QB who could throw guys open with anticipation and ball placement while hitting them in stride to allow for maximum YAC. That just hasn't been the case as of yet.
  23. We're overusing Thielen IMO. We're trying to use him like he's a YAC guy and he just isn't. He's basically possession receiver at this point in his career. He can still get open but he's not a guy that's going to make a lot happen after the catch. Chark is primarily a deep threat specialist. I just don't think he's a great pairing with Bryce Young. Not unless we can establish more threats to fee up opportunities for him to get one on one deep. I don't know why we gave Hurst that contract or why fans expecting him to be a great threat. He is what he is. A low level starter/good #2 TE. What we've gotten out of him is basically what we should've expected. This is who he is. Mingo does seem to be improving. What is like to see out of Bryce given what we're currently doing and what he shown capable of executing is better ball placement. Watch Purdy tonight. His arm is average at best, but his anticipation and ball placement are both ELITE. He hits guys in stride and puts the ball where they don't lose any momentum so they can get that YAC. Way too often guys are having to sacrifice YAC ability just to secure the catch. Bryce has to have better anticipation and ball placement because he's never gonna have a cannon.
  24. We did a better job today if scheming up receivers in the mid-range area than we have prior IMO. Bryce just isn't putting the ball in great locations when guys are NFL open. I really thought Bryce was the type of QB who would be throwing guys open with anticipation and elite ball placement. Right now he looks pretty average in those categories. If you're average in those categories you better have a cannon because you're gonna need it.
  25. Less effectiveness than what we're currently doing? It's all about trying to create matchups and making the defense account for threats. We just don't have much to offer that defenses have to truly worry about.
