  1. There's no "laying low" in the QB market. Lamar has just badly outkicked his coverage here and he's going to be very fortunate if the Ravens don't hold his feet over the fire now. They can probably fairly offer him considerably less than their last best offer now if they want to. Lamar might legitimately be looking at his best option being playing the year out under the tag and proving he can stay healthy. He'd have an extra hundred million plus in the bank right now if he hadn't been trying to save 3%.
  2. Of course they aren't. Their coach doesn't involve the TE in the passing game. It's how we got Greg Olsen from Mike Martz's Bears. Not saying Gesicki is Greg Olsen but I'd expect a sizeable jump in his production in NE.
  3. Always buyer beware on the well ran franchises letting aging players walk. They tend to have a pretty good feel for when a guy is not gonna be worth his price tag, unlike teams like the Panthers who have historically backed up the Brinks truck for guys they should be letting walk. We've always had a bad habit of paying guys for the players that they were, not the players that they're likely to be moving forward.
  4. Those were fun teams. Hell, it was a fun era of basketball, period. Hopefully the game will evolve back toward that era and away from the current era of jacking threes and drive and flail.
  5. He has cost himself untold millions trying to save 3%.
  6. The majority of Clemson's 3rd string was better than our starters and our OC's playbook had 21 plays in it. If Maye had any sense he'd be suiting up for UGA next year as the favorite to win the Heisman and national championship. Instead he's staying at UNC out of love and commitment. I think he's crazy but I love him for it and here you are shitting on him as a "UNC diehard".
  7. It's almost like people are wired differently with different motivators. Wild.
  8. Doesn't matter. Their fans will love hearing it and if it helps motivate him then who cares? We made our deal. He very well may have been blindsided by it. I'm sure he expected to be in Carolina for the foreseeable future. He'd probably had conversations with the staff about his role. Then boom, he's headed to Chicago. At the end of the day, yeah we did value moving up in the draft over him. That's obvious. So where are the lies?
  9. Whatever gets you motivated. Lots of great players take a lot of stuff personal because it drives them.
  10. Chargers' safety Nasir Adderly retires at 25 strongly hinting at long-term brain health concerns. 2019 2nd round pick who has started 44 games for them.
  11. He's somewhere in that mountain of trash along with all the rest of them.
  12. I'm pretty sure the media is probably going to project us picking all four of the top QB prospects between now and draft day. You can't be wrong if you predict everything! Just buckle up, enjoy the ride, and don't fall in love with any particular prospect.
  13. I think so too but I think he would've likely had a David Boston type career. Ultimately he just didn't have the dog in him to last long-term. He would've eventually hit a bump in the road and whatever it was it was gonna derail him. Unfortunately, he got the double whammy of blowing out his knee and losing his mom so the derail came fast and hard.
  14. Smitty definitely wasn't a great teammate, but it's not like any of those WRs we had during those years went on to do anything else outside of Carolina. He was notoriously hard on the young WRs but on that particular "bad teammate" issue he may have been right. Those dudes just didn't want it. It wasn't a lack of talent, it was a lack of desire. From Colbert to Jarrett to LaFell to KB to Funchess. We had WR talent over the years, we just didn't have any talent that was hungry to be great. It wasn't a lack of drafting the right talent, it was that we drafted the wrong men.
  15. Yep. A big part of it is that we've always had a defensive focused coaching staff.
  16. It's just really bad. Jacking threes or driving and flailing. The traditional post game and midrange game is practically dead. Defense is hacking and grabbing counting on the refs not to be able to call it all and flopping if the offense makes any contact. Golden State ruined the game for the time being. You can't efficiently run that offense without some of the greatest shooters of all time sharing the court.
  17. Pretty unbelievable that we've really only drafted and developed three legit starting NFL WRrs in Smitty, Moose, and DJ in 30 years. We average one a decade.
  18. I honestly just don't find basketball all that entertaining these days without emotional attachment. Sucks, because basketball was by far and away favorite sport growing up. The modern version of the game just isn't very good if I'm being honest.
  19. I hope so. I'm hoping the staff sees some serious untapped potential in our current guys. We certainly seem to be operating as if they do.
