  1. We're definitely not relevant again yet. Im hopeful for the first time in a long time but it's kinda weird how many fans are acting like we've arrived. There's promise but we still have to go out there and prove it on the field.
  2. I think the biggest thing that the Panthers have needed for awhile is wins. Winning fixes everything.
  3. I have no clue what the fug a glorilla is and I don't care as long as XL puts up 1k yards next year.
  4. Bryce is trying to prove he can be considered a legit starter and the majority of our receiving corps are young guys with potential but little to no proven NFL production. This is highly unlikely to be an MVP season for Bryce. We're just trying to figure out if he's going to take the Jared Goff path or the Justin Fields path.
  5. $8k, not $80k To get those type of odds I think you'd have to bet on a punter to win MVP. LOL
  6. All I want out of Bryce this year is answering the question of whether he's the guy or not. Mediocre would be the worst case scenario IMO. Just be the guy or be Clausen and be the guy who gets us the guy. Let's please just get some clarity one way or the other.
  7. I'm really hoping that his input on this off-season's defensive roster moves were of far less significance than we were led to believe about his input last off-season.
  8. Yeah, this is a prove it year for Evero IMO. I haven't been impressed. A lot was made of his personal involvement in our defensive free agent acquisitions last year and it culminated in the worst defense in NFL history. I get it, losing Brown was a HUGE blow but c'mon... it's not like adding Brown turns the worst D in history into a serviceable unit. We were gonna suck hard regardless.
  9. I realize that it's shocking to Panthers fans that players can improve because we've so rarely seen it but let's just celebrate that it happened.
  10. Yeah, for us to be a playoff team we need a LOT of production out of youngsters in key positions - most notably at WR, TE, and pass rusher. If we don't have some big time impact rookies on those units we aren't gonna have a chance to compete for a playoff spot. If we do have some big time impact rookies on those key position groups and Bryce picks up where he left off down the stretch last year then the future is actually going to look bright for the first time in a long time regardless of what the W-L record is.
  11. The norm in the Tepper era has been shifting to draft talk by Halloween. LOL
  12. Yeah, I think people who are hyping themselves up about a SB run are getting waaaaaaaay ahead of themselves. Let's just try not to earn a top 10 pick first and try to build from there. I'd love to be in the hunt for a playoff spot. Anything beyond that is massive icing on the cake.
  13. Kinda surprising but then again I guess not really. We've had a lot of good RBs but most have either been splitting time or didn't last long... or both. Stephen Davis gave us a great season but we just got the tail end of his career. Foster gave us some good highlights but never had a 1000 yard seasons and split his early years with Davis and latter years with DeAngelo. DeAngelo and J-Stew split carries with each other for virtually their entire careers. Then along came CMC who was tremendous but spent most of his tenure on IR.
  14. If he stays healthy he should get it. I mean 825 yards over 17 games is averaging less than 50 yards per game. Even if we rotate more at RB I would still expect him to probably account for 60% or so of the non-QB carries (he accounted for nearly 70% last year).
  15. Looking at Wright's stats I'm kinda surprised why this guy has never stuck. He's an 87% FG kicker and he's 7/11 from 50+ with a 56 and two 59 yards. This guy beating out Fitzgerald doesn't seem like the end of the world.
  16. Yeah, range only matters with consistency. It only takes a few wide rights on gimmies to make you long for the guy who is near automatic from inside 50 but that's about the end of his range.
  17. Oh lord, why would anyone miss Slye? Yeah, being able to lineup for a 60 harder is nice but not at the expense of 35 yards and XPs being nail biting affairs. If I had to choose between a big legged kicker with spotty accuracy or an accurate kicker with a limited leg I'm absolutely choosing the latter. At the end of the day, missing a long FG is basically the equivalent of a turnover. You're handing your opponent great field position.
  18. Yeah, I think in Wright they basically see a Pinero replacement. Accurate, limited leg kicker but instead of a guy in Pinero who thinks he should be one of the highest paid kickers in the league you have a guy in Wright who would be absolutely thrilled just to have a job. Then you have Fitzgerald who they're hoping wins the job and is the long term solution. We'll see how it all plays out. Fitzgerald is Plan A and Wright is Plan B and I think everyone involved fully realizes this.
  19. Yeah, it's a complete question mark. A lot of potential but a lot of unknown as well. I didn't mind the T-Mac pick and it's comforting after the fact that it sure seems like he was the consensus WR1 in the draft but top 10 pick consensus best at their position prospects bust almost every year. Until they hit the NFL field they're still unknowns.
  20. I suspect that's likely Wright's issue as well and why he's never stuck on a team and bounced around. Probably a good kicker, just limited leg. The guy has made 87% of his FG attempts and has only missed two XPs ever. But if you aren't good from close to 60 they're looking for your replacement.
  21. Maybe. Similar situation to us. Young potential but very little proven production.
  22. And it's why they have no receiving corps. Paying QBs big money makes you make hard choices. Paying an absolutely TRASH tier RT big money further limits your options. LOL
  23. You can spend big on the OL when you have a QB and the majority of your receiving corps on a rookie contracts.
