Bruce Irvin, Seattle LB wants to play for ATL next yr
JawnyBlaze replied to Moorgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol they better trade him. Irvin hasn't been anywhere near good enough to get a contract and playing time that would get Seattle a decent comp pick. Maybe a 5th at best. -
He most certainly was, and if he had played all 16 games he would have had a real shot at breaking Moss' rookie WR record. Even with the missed games, I'd call his the second best rookie WR year ever.

How many true, lifelong Panthers fans are actually out there?
JawnyBlaze replied to SIGCHI222's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm 33 and was a Cowboys fan until the age of 12. It's a part of my life I try to forget. -
That's pretty much my attitude on it. I like OBJ well enough and I think he's a future superstar, wanted him in the draft last year. But I dislike everything Patriots more than I like OBJ, heh.

The Patriots see the Broncos' two Superbowls acquired through cheating and raise them two more.

A little trouble in paradise (Seattle)? RW contract talks
JawnyBlaze replied to nctarheel0619's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not comparing Cam and Wilson. I'm just talking about Wilson. Wilson is a mobile Trent Dilfer. That's it. He is not the crux of that offense. If you wanna talk about Cam, well Cam is a LOT bigger part of his offense than Wilson is. If you wanna lay out percentages and pay Wilson an equivalent percentage to his contribution to the offense and pay Cam the same way, scaling to total pool of money dedicated to the offenses based on team success, Cam is still getting a bigger payday than Wilson. Will it happen that way? I dunno. I don't read tea leaves. I'm pretty confident I won't have a problem with how much they pay Cam within reason because of how much he is relied upon and how much of a difference he made in this team. -

Wilson didn't win a Super Bowl, the Seahawks did. This ain't tennis. But if you're going to say Wilson personally won a Super Bowl you also gotta say he personally lost one too. Sounds like it evens out. -

The whole "QBs are solely responsible for a football team's success" is probably the greatest myth in sports history. -
Addison and Horton are garbage - average backups at best - and if they're starting again like they did to begin last year our defense is going to be bottom third of the league again like last year.
-
I'm worried. The success of our defense is predicated on pressure from our DEs. CJ is proven but declining, whether it be from injuries, age, or simply not having Hardy across from him, he didn't look as good last year. The "late season success" people like to mention seemed a lot more of a result of the poor competition to me. I hope Ealy and Alexander can make large strides this year, but it's far from certain. If they are the same or only marginally better we're in for a rough year. I have absolutely zero expectations of Horton or Addison, they're average backups at best. IF Ealy and Alexander step up their game, I think we're alright barring injuries. Otherwise, it's going to be another middle of the pack year for us defensively.

To me: 1st. D 2nd. C 4th. A 5thA. F 5thB. B Average out to a C. I sure hope I'm wrong about the first two picks. Wouldn't be the first time.

So much for Hardy lasting til the 5th

Carolina Panthers Trade Up Select Oklahoma's Daryl Williams
JawnyBlaze replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm ok with this. Not the OT I wanted, but maybe the one I deserve.... -
All credit to CPantherKing for bringing my attention to this kid. Robinson's story is straight out of a movie. Dead father, crook mother, lived with his grandmother til she passed (he found her in the kitchen), lived in his car at times in HS. He seems to have a great attitude. On the field he's a short, stocky powerful runner who was an absolute nightmare to tackle. How this kid hasn't been hyped up more is beyond me. He had a slow 40 (4.7), but that's not his game. He's got a good jump cut, good vision, good enough burst, great lower strength. He's a very good blocker, especially for his size (important, judging by our staff's comments). Good pass catcher. Just watch his breakdowns. You'll be amazed. http://draftbreakdown.com/players/josh-robinson-2

I really really hope we're able to trade our 4th and 5th to move up into the 3rd for SOMETHING to get me happy about this draft, heh. -

People aren't complaining that Gettleman traded up for an offensive weapon. They're complaining he traded up for Funchess. Who I wouldn't have wanted at our original #57, much less at the cost of our 3rd and 6th too. -

I'm just at a loss. Devin Funchess with Strong still on the board...and a number of other better WRs. Shaq and now Funchess. Gettleman is testing my faith. -

Just our 3rd and 6th for a 2nd? Thats out freaking standing. That's how it's GD done, Gettles. Nail these two picks and I'm totally on board with Shaq. Edit: If we gave 2nd, 3rd, 6th for the 2nd then that makes sense.
