For the love of Christ these "past incidents" people keep making up kill me. -

how many snaps he played for us have nothing to do with the comp pick. How much he plays and gets paid by his new team determines the comp pick. -
Cowboys in negotiations with Greg Hardy?
JawnyBlaze replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
I had a feeling he was going to be a Cowboy. They need defensive help and are popular enough to weather the ignorant backlash that signing him could bring. -
According to some other guy in this or another thread, can't remember where exactly, he had 15 catches for 12 first downs. Clutch? Eh, if we're using the term liberally. Clutch to me requires some knowledge of the situation in which the plays were made. And I certainly don't remember how many of his 12 first downs were in critical situations. I do remember one or two that helped extend important drives in games. I think those passes could have easily gone to Brown. Brown was more clutch this past season, in my opinion. edit: Just noticed your avatar. I'd say Bersin was about as clutch as the mustache on the guy's head in your avatar lol

I'm sure he's capable, but he's not particularly fast, nor do I have any reason to believe he's a skilled tackler. I mean, anyone CAN play special teams. I'm sure Colin Cole COULD play ST. Is there not someone that can do it better and serve other roles in a greater capacity is the question.
-
But there's the second part to what I said. He doesn't offer enough upside or value as a WR to justify a roster spot when he can't even contribute on ST. He had a few catches, but surely we can find someone that can make 20 catches a season that can also contribute on ST. And maybe even do something with the ball after they catch a pass...I'm not mad if we keep him on the team or anything, but I also don't see any legitimate reason to keep him. I'd be thrilled if our WR corps is upgraded through the draft to look like: KB Jaelen Strong (or some other WR in the 1st) Justin Hardy (or another speedy guy, or guy with great hands like Hardy's that has actual upside in the 3rd or 4th) Brown Cotchery Ginn We're not carrying more than 6 WRs, probably. And if we only draft 1 WR this year, I could see us rolling with only 5 WRs on the roster with Webb or that App State kid as the WR/backup QB that's deactivated every game.

Raiders in discussions with Greg Hardy
JawnyBlaze replied to Kevin Greene's topic in Carolina Panthers
Was he even calling women bitches in his rapping? I will admit (be proud of?) the fact I didn't listen to the whole "rap" but the line that got all the attention was "Kraken, bitch". Sounds like the kind of line that was the gender-unspecific "bitch", not directed at women or a woman. It's splitting hairs, I know, but it makes a little difference. -
The numerous mistakes in the playoffs weren't his first time making mistakes fielding punts. Or the second. Or the third. He was poor at it all season. The one in the gif earlier in this thread was the MOST bone-headed of them, but he was bobbling punts and making other mistakes all season long.

Raiders in discussions with Greg Hardy

Beating a child the way AP beat his is completely wrong and should be admonished. But that had nothing to do with Greg Hardy. AP abused a child. Greg Hardy was hoodwinked by an experienced manipulator of men. Completely unrelated. -
"bad" as a WR? nah, he had some good catches. Get separation? No. Trustworthy as a punt returner? Never. Has enough upside as a WR to justify spending a roster spot on him, especially when he's a liability on special teams? Not really.

Bucs signed Bruce carter. There had been some talk around here about him
-
I have no problem with the level of players he's targeting. Oher and Ginn are exactly the sort I'd want him bringing in. Not too many of these FAs this year are going to be worth what they're getting. Last year one of the few I thought were worth what they got was out of our price range, but you have to believe we'd go for him if last year were this year-Veldaheer. This year, the only thing Gettleman is doing that's pissing me off is not giving Hardy a chance. I would understand if the market for him is just too high, but to not even talk about it is beyond ludicrous.
-
Or, just playing devils advocate, maybe we're being picky about whether he'll fit in our scheme and trying to determine from him if he'll be a good fit. Either way is possible.

The Titans blue is closer to Carolina blue than ours, but interesting to mention the word Carolina at all....interesting indeed. -
lol all these tweets from random people saying Cam's in trouble now, those people must not have watched a single down of Panther football last year. Injured Oher is still better than healthy Bell. Oher could be on IR and still be an upgrade over Bell. It was a good move and for a 2 year deal, it couldn't have been much money. Great signing. Doesn't settle the problem of our OTs, but will help. And like someone else said, helps our hands not to be forced in the draft.

lol at wanting Foles over McCoy...
-
Really interesting. Alonso is a really good LB (at least he was his rookie year, then he got hurt. don't know what he's been like since then). Quite possibly a good trade for all parties. You never see player for player trades. Hopefully this might help them happen more often.

Cam shoulda known what he was getting himself into. All we need to do now is franchise tag him next year, then the shooter from the club accuses Cam of assault and Cam gets put on the exempt list for all but one game and we can go back to being a squeaky clean franchise.

Panthers Final Decision On Hardy : No Thanks
JawnyBlaze replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
and telling someone who writes for a website about your team knowing full well they would write about it isn't making it public? I don't believe Voth got his speculation from Gettleman. I believe he got it from someone with the organization who believes they have their finger on Gettleman's pulse, and I don't doubt it's the likely outcome, but I also don't believe it's a done deal or even remotely close to official. -

Nowhere in that article did it say that decision makers on Hardy told him flat out he won't be here. You're speculating that it was a decision maker. -

I don't. I fear Hardy hitting Cam cleanly and brutally like he did Palmer a couple years ago. Outside of a miracle, whoever is out LT next year would get destroyed by Hardy. -

It's not so much doubt on Voth, no question he's been solid for the past year. It's just that nobody knows and it's still nothing more than spectulation. Speculation from Voth, speculation from whoever his source is on the team (if Gettleman is giving out info like this at this juncture, he's doing it wrong...and even if the info DID come from Gettleman, anything's possible. Something could change between now and March 10-when Hardy would actually OFFICIALLY be gone), and speculation from people on this forum. Few of us will deny that the chances of him staying are remote at best, but people passing off speculation as official new is misleading. -

Yea, I'm not seeing the official part... -
The entire concept of the exempt list is weird. As it stands now, it's an abuse of power in my opinion. The NFL, and this commissioner in particular, is woefully lacking in a system of checks and balances. I know all the owners care about are the paychecks and account balances and they're the ones that give him his power, but the whole thing reeks of bullshit. The exempt list is just another way for the commissioner to throw his weight around and move the chess pieces on his board rather than treat people fairly and work out honest solutions to problems.
