really looking forward to preseason, I hope Canales is going to be bringing a fresh offensive take to Carolina that doesn't look like Tampa on repeat. I think we need to be doing some different things given our QB and WR setup.
I would not judge the offense by how it looks in preseason. It will be vanilla. Having said that, last preseason definitely was a foreshadowing of things to come. So who knows.

That takes the fun out of a fresh thread on Friday my dude. No trouble, writing a few names down takes a nanosecond
Have fun with it then. Far be it for me to stop someone from wasting time and energy on a fruitless effort. Please carry on.

You might want to wait until the 1st round is over before you go through all this trouble to only only have to start over anyway.

if the guy calling the shots won't listen to anyone else because he thinks he knows more than anyone else, it's hard to convince him of anything.
from the way it sounds, there wasn't much communication going on between scouting department and coaches until this year.
they are doing things differently this year. doesn't matter that some of the players are the same because the big dogs at the top calling the shots the last few years aren't there (except maybe tepper and he's being quiet).
that, on it's own, is enough for some optimism. the problem wasn't the scouts. it was the decision makers.

how do you figure they do more than a regional scout employed by the teams? why would you think that these regional scouts haven't been around the game their whole lives or that they spend less time or do less work than brugler or whoever? these regional scouts aren't volunteering their work.
teams also are looking specific things and traits that the draftniks may not be taking into consideration that are specific to their teams. draftniks aren't as dialed into specific teams as much as regional scouts who are tied to the teams.
regional scouts are just going to be better at evaluating for the specific teams than any of the draftniks...at least they'll know more about what the teams that employ them are looking for more than the draftniks. teams will have a big board that is done by their guys that is specific to what they have deemed important for their teams.
draftniks just do a broad based big board that isn't specific to any team so they are ranking players and picking for teams based on incomplete information about these teams. it just doesn't make sense for teams to rely on them for anything except to maybe get an idea about where players might fall...but even with that they shouldn't count on that being reliable intel.
teams may notice what draftniks are saying, but they also have their own league sources that they will use.
i think we just put too much stock in draftniks and their rankings.

Yep....
My main deal for the up coming season is to find if the QB can play or not. Don't care about wins, just if young is a NFL QB or not.
in 2025.......so much is needed still. Honestly the same draft form this this year is needed for next-
2 WRs
1-C
1- MLB
1- edge
1- DB/CB
1- TE
Its also a big year for icky too........maybe bigger than young cause I can not watch that vomit play 2023 again. Same deal, time to figure it buddy....
Plus its going suck hard if evero gets a HC elsewhere given most of the defensive players are here cause of him.
You could add RB to that list as well.

I have many concerns. Thing is..we met with him like 4-5 times so am just bracing and hoping my concerns are things he can quickly prove wrong, overcome and/or build up.
I think taking him in the second round is a bit too rich for me. At 65 is fair but higher is too much of a gamble for me.

This is some next level cringe.
To the subject at hand though. BPA is fine. 2024 is going to be a wasted developmental year anyway.
As will 2025 I suspect.

Young has the short touch throws in his pocket. He will never have the drive the ball on a line for 30 yards type of juice. To almost ‘will’ it there just ahead of a closing defender? You hope he knows better.
The thing I've noticed about Bryce is that he is/was not a gambler on his throws. He almost obsessed about not making a mistake. But he didn't make many in college. After the first Atlanta game those picks got to him I think. Then Frank started that "keep it in the neighborhood" crap and started taking more control over the plays for some reason. The whole thing was dysfunctional from the jump.

Daniel Jeremiah doesn't have Legette in his top 50 players and Dane Brugler has him rated at his 13th WR and a 3rd round pick. Brugler had Mingo rated as a 3rd last year as well

Most of what I read were concerns about his size in relation to durability. I probably read “if Bryce was 6’2” he be the perfect prospect” several times. Arm seemed to be mentioned as “good enough” by most.
Hey if he busts maybe we overcorrect and draft a 6’8” QB with an absolute cannon?Bryce has a range of 55 yards. I watched his pro day and counted the air yards on his deep throws. That's if he steps into it. Now his accuracy on those deep throws were hit and miss. But he can throw a ball 55 yards in the air, if he steps into it. Stroud threw his 10 yards more and Richardson throw for about 2 or 3 more than Stroud. It is what it is.

Wonder what happened to him/her?
Probably got insulted by some idiot in here and said "peace out mtfr's". A large contingent around here wants to shout down anyone who might actually hear things because why? Who the hell knows. Anyway, take what I said with a grain of salt. I listen to their posts and take it for what it is. Doesn't mean it's 100% accurate all the time but I respect it.

The first two rounds are typically starter level players. After that it's mainly rotational or depth guys. Which, we need a ton of depth, as well.
If they even work out. The odds are just not there for it to go any other way.

It bothers me that we have no LBs on this list---we have NO Depth there. IMO, we take a RB here when would should be drafting a LB. But with so many needs, it is difficult to cover all bases.
I would bet money that only 2 of the Panthers draft picks this year work out for them, if they're lucky. So anyone thinking the team will get more than 1 starter has their expectations way too high.

Yeah, but it’s not fair expectations to draft a C and expect him to be NFL average out the gate though. Especially, if it’s not some top tier first round prospect.
If I'm not mistaken Ryan Kalil started right away. If not, it was only a couple of games into his rookie season. It can happen with the right pick at center.

I'm curious to see if there will be a few waiver wire additions this year. We fund ourselves at the front of the line so might as well take advantage of it since we're here.

Bryce Young ready to get back to work, grow as a leader
in Carolina Panthers

This is where I'm at. If it begins to upset my mood I do not need to be involved with it. The whole state of the franchise has become quite amusing to me. I find enjoyment when there's something positive that happens, no matter how small. I've learned to laugh at the negative elements that exist because that's how bad it's gotten. I've become accustomed to expect the worst and count anything positive as a blessing. It is what it is - old Foxy
