  1. CMC healed. If you say he did not in 2019, I will giggle and then block you.
  2. And that can mean that we are going to have some coins in our pockets on Black Friday.
  3. Yes--he got himself into a jam and this was his "get out of jail" move---this year, 25% of our salaries were in dead cap money. We won 5 games. Amazing.
  4. Sensitive subject. Most of us would double our salaries if we get the $15 minimum wage guarantee.
  5. That is what makes this "slip" of the tongue rather meaningful. Why else would it matter? I watched the video and Rhule was very careful in selecting his words about Bridgewater. I mean, it is all circumstantial and subjective, but that is what makes this time of year fun.
  6. Wait a tic--when you change the contract, it changes the prognosis. I think, "on his current deal" is a given when you discuss all players. This is one less hole to fill. He is a good player, just an overpaid player.
  7. Folks, shopping in free agency on day one is not a good practice. Traditionally, teams rarely make a good investment. Rhule and Co. are good developing players--give em room. https://www.fieldgulls.com/2019/3/18/18270197/free-agency-is-bad Take a look at the article above (written in 2019) by the Seahawks. It supports the article I posted on the Huddle a few years ago that used data to show that about 70-75% of expensive free agents do not earn their contracts (when compared to positional performance of peers). Let's use the 2016 group of free agents as an example, since 2020 would have been the end of the fourth year: "Highest paid players to switch teams in free agency, in “total” value: Malik Jackson, Olivier Vernon, Josh Norman, Brock Osweiler, Janoris Jenkins, Kelechi Osemele, Russell Okung, Damon Harrison, Kelvin Beachum, Alex Mack, Marvin Jones, Brandon Brooks, Bruce Irvin, Sean Smith, Coby Fleener, Tashaun Gipson, Rodney McLeod, Mitchell Schwartz, Mohamed Sanu, J.R. Sweezy. Of those 20 players, 13 are no longer with the teams that signed them just three years later (2019). Those 20 players had 17 contracts that were at least five years in length (Jackson was the only one who got six and he was cut after three), and most of those were ended prematurely without the expected return at time of signing. Of the three four-year deals, Irvin made it the longest at 2.5 seasons. The only player of those 20 to win a Super Bowl has been Brooks, a remarkably good signing for the team and for him as a free agent choosing a good situation to walk into."
  8. Like underwear, so why bother changing. Whose with me?
  9. Key words: POSITIONAL FLEXIBILITY We have several players on the team and in the draft with this--not sure about free agency--will have to look. RB/WR (had that in Samuel) LB/S/nickel: Chinn CB/S/RB: Hartsfield OT/OG: Daley DT/DE: Obada (free agent) 3T/NT: Brown We need a hybrid TE/WR (Just working from the top of my head--I think we do value dual position aptitude --made that term up, but positional flexibility is also effective)
  10. Did someone say, "Tanneyhill" yet? Asking for a friend.
  11. And we may have an effective slot on the roster or there could be one on day 3 of the draft. With the reduced cap, it is not a good year to be Samuel. I think he goes into the market and returns to accept a contract in the lower numbers---maybe some crackhead GM will throw the checkbook at him, but I doubt it.
  12. What I am hoping for is this--we have all been at the car lot for a while and we started with the $100,000 sports cars, then we started looking at the $60,000 "more practical" crossovers, and now we are kicking the tires of the Subaru Outbacks. While the Outback may be the best vehicle for our needs, we really wanted that sports car with the sun roof that can go 0-60 in 3 seconds. I have heard that Jones is not good, but I have not seen it. His stats do not indicate it. If we take Jones, we better surround him with a wall of stud OL and get him a TE. The sports car would have been great but in bad weather and slippery surfaces, the Outback outperforms. When I think that the crossover has heated seats and steers for you, I realized that the $30,000 Outback saves us $30,000 so we can use that money for insurance and other luxuries (OL and WRs and a TE). So Jones does not have the highlight reel--does he have the things that people do not notice on those films--progression speed and decision making, a quick release, leadership? I would not sell him short. And if you are still kicking the tires in the sports car and crossover sections of this car dealership, maybe the sensible choice is not in the showroom. I am hoping that is what is going on. Jones with Reed at G and a guy who until recently held aloft a cardboard sign at an intersection at LT is going to fail.
  13. If we do not have a qb in free agency before the draft, I think Jones will be the pick. Since the Panthers do not care what I think or want, my preferences have nothing to do with that assessment. Rhule knows him and likes him. Trevor, Wilson, and Fields will be gone. Lance is a wild card, but Jones is the safe QB pick-- I think we find a way to get Watson, fwiw, so it will not come to this. If we spend too much to get Watson, we may be no better off.
  14. Here, people have emotionally written him off---he requires a clean pocket, and he has been inconsistent, but the Chicago offense is not what I would call QB friendly.
  15. the secret (ssshhh) to building through the draft is to have 2 strong drafts back-to-back
  16. wonder about his arms (length)? (Sorry, should read the thread first). I think his speed is incredible.
  17. I always wonder if one person says it and the parrots start chirping the news.
  18. I think we should have orange helmets with a white paw print on them. But I am a visionary.
  19. Here is the line of questioning we should all ask ourselves. Is Simms right? (No? advance to next question) are you right? (No? advance to next question) Could the answer be that nobody is right?
  20. If this is true....wait for it.......Mond could be drafted before Lance......Discuss.,
  21. https://theathletic.com/2233780/2020/12/03/panthers-roster-analysis-free-agents/ I am looking forward to seeing his article about how he saw this coming. Seriously, he has been yanking folks around on here for years, and it is time to call him out. Just for fun.
  22. And what did Panther insider and NFL guru Joe Person say about 2 months ago? 30% chance Moton returns. I called BS on him, and said they would tag him, as many of you did. He is a master click baiter.
