We need LBs--build the roster from the bottom up. On offense, we have Coker who has been huge...if you fill your weaknesse without having to use free agent $$$ or draft picks--win win.
-
I agree with that--and a good game manager understands that it is his job to get the ball to better athletes at the right time. I would even say, "All great QBs are game managers first." What then, is the special sauce that separates game manager from elite QB? OC/play calling, weaponry, protection. The General, the ammo, and the armor.
-
And we could use a stud TE to go with Sanders and Tremble. That would be an awesome TE room.
-
Looking at this from the Canales viewpoint: He inherited Bryce. No emotional commitment to him. He did not pound the table for Bryce in meetings before the draft in 2023. He was hired to turn him around, so to speak, and he has done that. Bryce could be tapping on his ceiling, and Canales will reach a point when he wants more.

And there have been teams with average QBs and loaded rosters-mainly teams with great defenses--like the 85 Bears, for extreme example, that have won it all with a game manager--but it is much better to have an elite QB.... This draft will have some decent qbs who could become a good NFL starting QB--I think of Cousins being taken with RGIII in the same draft. I think of Brady being drafted when the Pats had Bledsoe---I hope we go after a guy like Howard from Ohio State, Rourke from Indiana, or (and people might laugh at this, but he has the skills) Beck from Georgia. Yeah, Bryce is a game manager--that is all he was at Bama.

I have sawyer and Jalen Walker in my last mock--traded back to 28, took Sawyer, then grabbed walker with the second round--Walker is a Micah parsons to me....Id take Marshall's Mike Green too. -

Watching Ohio State Tennessee-Pearce (Tenn Edge) looks fast--not sure he is much of a drop off from Carter--and I love Jack Sawyer from Ohio State--think he will be a better pro than college player---can get to the QB and hold the edge--very disciplined from what I can tell. Howard (QB) looks like a solid NFL backup--one that could look to start in time. -
The Steelers seemed happy to get rid of him--I thought we got the best of that deal--nope. But D Jax was gone regardless, so it was def worth the look, even if we knew of his "issues." Sometimes a new environment will change that.

That pick just sounds like us--reminds me of when we took Burns, actually. And Aussie, I have not looked into this yet, but there is a LB from Georgia (Walker) who gives me the Micah Parsons feel--a bit short (6-2) but he is a good athlete and can play from multiple spots...I would not take him in the top 10, however. Unless Hunter drops to us, lock in Graham (DT) or Carter (Edge) if we do not move back. In my view, if we could drop back about 10 spots, we could add a second. The worst thing about that is best described using Gettlemen's metaphor--"a Quarter is worth more than 2 dimes."

This is a fluff article written simply by looking at OTC--I appreciate the view, but getting rid of Wonnum and Clowney is nonsensical. Even if we draft an edge, it takes a bit of time to develop. Rucker, Hardy, Charles Johnson--all were not that effective until year 3--We need a young edge while we have some veterans on the roster--and if we want a Peppers-like rookie edge, it is not happening this year. there are some solid players, however, but I don't see any Watts or Bosas.

Three guys whose last names are difficult to spell--it just might work!!!

So, if Coker and Moore are also no gos, do we run 3 TE sets and a slot WR? Asking for a friend.

I have said that before.

Agree--My crystal ball sees us finishing no worse than 4 if we lose out. I see the Giants (who play at Atlanta, Indy, and at Philly) with a chance of winning vs. Falcons or Colts. With a strong SOS, they would fall behind the Panthers. The Raiders could be tanking, but they are at home vs. Jax this weekend and are slight favorites--and their SOS is high. Jaxonvile, on the other hand, is ahead of the Panthers because they have the weaker SOS--but they finish with Vega$$ (see what I did there), Tenn at home, and Indy. Either Vegas or Jax has to win a game, leapfrogging the Panthers if they keep losing. Pull for Vegas to beat Jax--the jags have 2 winnable games after that. If the Panthers lose out, (Cards, Bucs, and Falcons), they likely pick third, could pick fourth. What does this scenario mean? 1. Giants (QB, probably Ward, but possibly Sanders). 2. Patriots (WR/CB Hunter) 3. Panthers (Hmmmm. One top QB on the board and the Raiders, Browns (perhaps), Titans, and Jets possibly needed QBs, I would expect some healthy offers--it will be interesting to see if the Raiders lose out for this reason alone.

7 years of losing has side effects.

While I would take him, Pitts at #4 overall has underperformed. Then Atlanta takes a good RB in the first and then a QB (whose value was inflated) just after signing Cousins--I can't imagine a worst draft performance over the past 5 years even though their picks did not bust--they were just stupid from the beginning. Atlanta was supposed to win the South and they are struggling. We will go defense with the first two picks. I have been picking WR in my mocks, but after looking into it more, there might be good players on the board, but they are not the best value. A top 10 pick should be a difference maker. I am not an Evero fan--I think he gets outcoached a lot (like vs. Dallas), so the biggest addition we could make is the DC--I actually like the depth at edge, DT, S, RB, and LB in this draft. Not so much CB, WR, QB, or OL.
-
There is a player from Bowling Green (Fannin?) who is right there--but the lack of difference-makers at TE (except maybe Brock Bowers last year) is lowering their stock a bit--Pitts at 4 to Atlanta, Noah Fant, Hayden Hurst, OJ Howard, Evan Ingram, Eric Ebron---to name a few--some solid players, but you can get solid TEs in round 3. I will go out on a limb---no TE in round 1 this year. I said it. By April, nobody will remember.
-
bad year to need a WR--just put 5 on the roster who can get open and catch--add a stud TE. If we pick third, take Hunter as a WR.

Scott Fowler on game, Young, Panthers. Not wrong
MHS831 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
You are wise beyond your years to agree with me. I think Fields is the free agent with the most upside---I mean, you keep looking until your franchise qb is on the roster-we are all hoping that Bryce will grab it, but he has not yet. -

he is a sleeper--I am not good at predicting college QBs who succeed in the NFL, but this guy is going to change my luck. I just think he'd be a good fit here. 4th round, maybe 5th.
