  1. Lots of crickets tonight.... anyone watching?
  2. How do you call a hook when Burns stick is on the ice the whole battle in front?
  3. Anyone else notice how much more involved Paul Statsny is with his line change?
  4. Kochetkov seeing everything really well so far.
  5. Rifle by Skjei back o' the net! On the PP no less.
  6. Detroit is an up and coming team and they played Carolina tough last season. That being said, I think the Isles have a lot more offensive firepower than Detroit, and with the same lines, the Canes D should be stout again tonight. 9 out of a possible 10 points so far. I said I'd be happy with 8 or 9 points off this 6-game trip. I'll be more than happy with an 11-point trip.
  7. Aho was sitting Saturday with a ding- nothing serious. Not too sure of Fast's condition, no real mention made during the game.
  8. Canes went 11 and 7 against the Isles Saturday night. But that was due to Aho and Fast being down. I could see them with 14/6 or 13/7, holding 3 goalies until someone gets moved. Maybe they pull a Tampa Bay and LTIR Anderson until the playoffs and ride Raanta and Kochetkov the remainder of the season.
  9. And yet it still has some commercial vibe similar to the black album that introduced most of the country to the band and their music.
  10. For a wide variety of reasons, any of the other 3 late games will be more interesting. So I'll probably watch figure skating.
  11. Coghlan was already sent to Chicago and I think they roll with 7 D-men. LaJoie will go back down as well. It's the only way to keep 3 goalies on the roster once Anderson returns. Nobody in the league is carrying 3 goalies. And it looks like the Canes will have to until someone is moved.
  12. 30-15 shots right now. The Isles following their very physical game in NJ last are just going thru the motions.
  13. The tape should be closely looked at by RBA. Despite being down Aho and Fast, the line changes working on both ends. And Staal scores as I'm typing away..
  14. Jesperi gets his third on a Burns shot he redirected. Slavin is beasting and the D is stifling.
  15. Canes spending a lot of time in the NY end. Kochetkov playing well. Canes D is stiff & hard tonite, much like myself. Get one!
  16. We'll see, but it looks like one of those nights with a bunch of shots and little to show for the effort.
  17. It was a very physical game and, coming off back-to-back games, the Isles should be a little slow outta the gate. Gotta take advantage.
  18. But it's the most popular sport in the world and this is the biggest "sporting event" in the world. So no one will care that Wahl died, how he died or anything else. Matter of fact, I'd be willing to bet it was barely mentioned, if at all, during today's games. $$$$$ is all that matters.
  19. And, if you watch Argentina with a Spanish ref, flopping gets you penalty kicks.
  20. Kochetkov did not impress me in the least last night. There were so many mental errors made by good hockey players that this is a team loss. The only guys who showed up to play and were on their game were Aho, Martinook, Fast and Staal. Rest of them took the night off.
  21. OT hockey. And another OTL. Against the worst team in the league. Kochetkov was less than ordinary and there's nothing good to be taken away from this loss.
  22. The worst team in the NHL scored 3 goals in the first 2 periods. Canes D has yet to show up. Team looks like they thought Anaheim would just roll over and give up.
  23. Burns had no business going below the goal line. Should have gone right to the front of the net. This is a trap game against a very bad team.
  24. Last Time Out: The Canes arrived in California already having started their road trip with two wins and Saturday night they made it a third. Brady Skjei scored just 4:01 in for the visitors and Martin Necas doubled the team's lead before the end of the first. Sebastian Aho made it 3-0 in the second and thanks to some more quality goaltending from Pyotr Kochetkov, Carolina was able to withstand a third period push by the Kings. Andrei Svechnikov added a fourth goal for Rod Brind'Amour's club and the team was able to close out a 4-2 victory from there. Turbo Is Back: Another victory within the team's victory was the return of forward Teuvo Teravainen. After missing 10 games due to an upper-body injury, #86 played 15:47 in his return, registering two shots, one block and one takeaway. Prior to his injury he had produced four assists in four games. Cookin' On The Power Play: Martin Necas' 12th goal of the year on Saturday came on the power play, at the time improving Carolina's run to six for their last 14. They've now published a power play goal in four of their last five games. Hot Hand In Net: Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 31 of 33 shots faced in net at Cyrpto.com Arena, earning his fifth win of the season. He has now won each of his last three games played (11/29-12/3), marking the longest win streak by any Canes netminder this season, and he has posted a .934 save percentage over that stretch, with 71 saves on 76 shots. Kochetkov has allowed two or fewer goals in six of his nine appearances this season, and in seven of his eight career wins. Saturday's game marked just his 10th career NHL/Hurricanes start, and his eight wins are the most in franchise history through any goaltender's first 10 career starts. Only six netminders in league history have posted nine wins through their first 10 starts, and only three this century: Martin Prusek (OTT, 2002-03), Viktor Fasth (ANA, 2013) and Igor Shesterkin (NYR, 2020). On A Run: Seth Jarvis extended his season-long point streak to five games in the win over the Kings, recording an assist on Sebastian Aho's second period goal. Martin Necas follows right behind him with at least one point in his last four outings. On The Other Side: The Ducks have struggled to start their season, currently touting a league-low 15 points in the standings. They've the only theam in the NHL allowing an average of over four goals per game and only four teams have scored fewer goals than them. Their penalty kill sits last at just 65.6% and their power play ranks 30th at just a 16.0% success rate. The core of their roster remains very young, as Troy Terry (26) and Trevor Zegras (22) lead the team in points through 26 games.
  25. One of the good things about living on the west coast is not having to stay up late for stuff like this. Sunday football starts at 10AM and you're done by 4 in the afternoon with plenty of time for yard works, etc.
