S Fowler take on Young and echoes of Newton
raleigh-panther replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol now…that …was cold blooded lol my Southern Momma was 4’ 11” sge said she was 5’ tall i didn't mess with her or correct her lol I came to well understand: “Though she be but little, she is fierce” from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Maybe it will be the same for Young. -
Some excerpts With echoes of Cam Newton, Bryce Young leaves no doubt that the Panthers are his team now BY SCOTT FOWLER [email protected] 2 days ago I know that was actually Bryce Young on the field Sunday, leading the Carolina Panthers to a 44-38 overtime win over Atlanta with a career-best performance in the season finale. I know it was Young accounting for five total touchdowns and outplaying everyone else in Atlanta. But what I kept seeing — and what I kept thinking about — was Cam Newton. For the very first time in his two years as the Panthers quarterback, Bryce reminded me of Cam so much Sunday it was eerie. It wasn’t just the five TDs, and the very Cam-esque ratio as to how he scored them (three pass, two rush). It was the absolute joy Young played with all afternoon. It was the first-down symbol he kept throwing up, just like Newton used to. It was the jump pass he threw to Jalen Coker on that overtime touchdown drive (although, to be fair, that was more of a Patrick Mahomes special). But most of all, it was Young’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Tommy Tremble on fourth-and-1, when he fired a strike and then turned around, his arms to the sky, before Tremble ever caught it in the end zone. That was Steph Curry/Cam Newton showmanship at its finest. That was Young, showing some personality on a team that desperately needs its best players to grab the city of Charlotte by the lapels and say, “Pay attention to us again! We’re fun! Give us another chance!” Newton would later say on X that the play was “nasty” (in a good way, of course) and “Boogie Approved.” Now let’s just get Young to work on a couple of things. First, can someone get Young to spice up his postgame news conferences? He’s unfailingly pleasant and unfailingly dull there, even after five-TD games. And secondly, starting with the first home game of the 2025 regular season, Bryce needs to re-institute Cam’s old tradition of handing all of his touchdown balls to a kid dressed in Carolina garb in the stands. That tradition needs to return, and Young now has the credentials and the pull to make it happen. As for the Cam Newton comparison, let me be clear as to its limited scope. Young has never had a season remotely close to the sort Newton posted, year after year, from 2011-18. The fewest touchdown passes Newton threw in any of those seasons was 18; the most Young has had was 15, in the season just concluded. ….. For now, though, the Panthers have to focus on getting a lot better. They just missed the playoffs for the seventh straight season. My daughter is a high school senior, and the Panthers have been irrelevant nationally since she was in elementary school. They’ve still got 99 problems. But Bryce Young? He’s no longer one of them.

from the observer Miami Dolphins. The Panthers will welcome one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, led by Alabama alum Tua Tagovailoa and fast-as-a-cheetah Tyreek Hill, to Bank of America Stadium in 2025. The Dolphins are 8-8 this year and are 6-2 against the Panthers all-time. *Seattle Seahawks. This home matchup marks a full-circle moment for Dave Canales, who cut his NFL teeth under Pete Carroll in Seattle. Carolina is 4-9 all-time against the Seahawks and lost the last contest in the matchup in 2023. Seattle is 9-7 heading into Week 18. *Los Angeles Rams. The Rams are perennial playoff contenders and have notched seven winning seasons the past eight years. The Panthers are 12-10 against the Rams all-time. *Buffalo Bills. This year it was the Kansas City Chiefs. This year’s Super Bowl contenders making a trip to Bank of America Stadium? Josh Allen and the Bills. The Panthers are 2-6 all-time against the Buffalo franchise. New York Giants / Cowboys. The Panthers had a home game — technically — against the Giants this year. That was in Germany, of course. And the 2025 Giants (3-13 entering Week 18) will look a lot different than the ones the Panthers faced in Munich, what with a new quarterback coming and a refurbished offense. That is, of course, if the Panthers finish last in the NFC South. If not, they face the Cowboys (7-9) New England Patriots. Panthers fans get an up-close look at their homegrown NFL quarterback when Carolina travels to Foxborough to take on the Drake Maye-led Patriots. The Pats are 3-13 entering Week 18. New York Jets. The Jets are 4-12 this year and have an existential crisis to handle this offseason — with their situations at quarterback and their head coach not exactly stable. At least for now, it feels like a compelling matchup for the Panthers on the road. San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers seem much better than 6-10. And they will likely be in 2025 — particularly if former Panther Christian McCaffreystays healthy. The Panthers are 13-9 against San Francisco all-time. Chicago Bears / Green Bay Packers. The Panthers are either playing the last-placed Bears or the second-to-last-place Packers in 2025, two very different. The mostly that emerged from Soldier Field this season focused on how much the Bears had “fleeced” the Panthers in their blockbuster trade before the 2023 season. But with Bryce Young playing well and the Bears in free fall and with a new coach incoming, that perception might be different next season. Tennessee Titans / Jaguars. The Panthers are facing either the last-place team or the second-to-last place team in the AFC South in 2025, depending on Sunday’s results. (A Titans win and a Jaguars loss could knot them at 4-13 each, but the Jags have the edge with their divisional record and would thus earn the tiebreaker.) Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers are also facing the Cardinals, who are entering Week 18 with a 7-9 record.

Garrett Wilson eyeing Bryce Young

The Panthers are not 1 WR away from being a playoff team they are a full defense away from being a playoff team this is not the time to throwing away draft capital…I don’t care who it is …ask Joe Burroughs about the importance of having a defense…the best receiver in the league…a great #2; plus a run game …and where are they ? …their happy asses are sitting home for once, stay where you are…take the best defensive players available build this team the right way and don’t look back …oh yeah, stay out of salary cap hell -
Garrett Wilson eyeing Bryce Young

My point of view it is really important about the character of who they bring in… is he a ‘teammate’ player or a ‘me’player i dont know a lot about Wilson as a teammate Divas can be problematic on a rebuilding team -
